Adore how this tent is like a mini hideaway while you're at the beach so you can be there longer. What a win! how amazing to see him using the device more to communicate too, so special.
You and your family make me and mine feel seen and a little less alone! We love our life, and our autistic family - but being honest about the realities of it, and just how difficult it can be has been a god send for us. Thank you 🙏
A huge congratulations to Jacob but also to you guys. Parents actively doing their best is what any child needs. ❤ We'll definitely need to look at the tent as we have a family snack near the beach and an active 5 year old who wants to be there but we need to be sun safe. ☀️
Amazing tent and I am so glad Jacob enjoys it too! I am so sorry about transportation. In the US, at least the state I live in, we get a van that comes and picks up Zac. When he was in public school, he had other kids on it. Now that he goes to a special education school, he is alone. I have requested an aide and was been approved, but finding one has been difficult. Fortunately, they have been flexible and allowed him to bring a tablet for entertainment because the ride is almost an hour away. So glad he's picking up his AAC! Thanks for the update! ❤️⭐️
I was telling my mum cause Emme is going through some bus issues at the moment and my older two are late when Emme doesn’t get on the bus at the right time… I shared you guys are also going through it and it feels like I’m not the only one… I hope all of the bus issues get sorted soon… hang in there…
That tent is a great idea, and so good for autistic kids who get overwhelmed by open spaces. That's so great Jacob is using the AAC device too, communication is SO important! I hope you get the extra support you're after too. Poor little Jazz, school transitions are really tough. We're going through this with out little boy right now. He's in year 1, and just like Jazz he has a good time while he's there, but it's getting him there in the first place that we're having trouble with.
⭐ Happy to hear from you again! Seeing Jacob using the AAC device is so exciting! And good on you for not forcing/coercing it; is beautiful to see that you respect how he communicates. A personal thank you: thank you for introducing me to COTS clothing. Just a few weeks ago I got celebrate with my OT that I actually _wanted_ to wear clothes for the first time in my life! I relate to the sleep challenges; it took almost two decades before mine were mostly figured out. Have you considered the factor of Jacob's ADHD with sleep? Some people with ADHD take medication for it before bed, specifically to help with sleep. It may seem counter-intuitive, and of course the impact is different for each individual, but this is an established strategy. It might be a treatment option for him (of course discuss with his psychiatrist and an ADHD sleep specialist if possible), especially since you noted hyperactivity, and I believe you mentioned in previous videos that his ADHD medication helps with that. Thank you for not giving up on the sleep challenges! It really is so hard. I have hope that you _will_ figure it out; you're already doing so much more than my family did. Wishing you well, you got this!
Omg that is so good, we need to get one for our beach trips. Seeing the use of the AAC is so inspirational for us with a 2 year old who has no receptive or verbal language ☺️
I'm praying you get approved for the funding! Can you post shorts of your IG content for us non-IGers? I love the tent. Hmm maybe we can attempt the beach one day.
@@aussieautismfamily we have a small pop up tent that jackson brings to family gatherings. He hides in it the entire time and peeks out at everyone through the cracks. I’m going to show him this tent to see what he thinks about the possibility of opening the sides. It would also be amazing when we go camping.
As someone who grew up with an autistic sister I wish my parents put her in a facility. It was hell. Ruined me mentally. I’m also neurodiverse but I didn’t disturb the house hold like she did. Same thing happened to my friend her older sister was autistic/ds so she ended up being neglected as her parents were busy caring for her sister, my friend ended up becoming a drug addict and promiscuous, her psychologist put it down to being neglected & abused by the sister. She herself ended up being diagnosed with asd in her 30s.Wish there were boarding schools for children with asd that need more help. A friend of a friend of mine sent her non verbal agressive never happy son to one in America and now he’s thriving, he’s actually happy, he eats healthier, he started talking his anger improved he sleeps all night and now her 3 other kids have also improved too cos now she can spend time with them and they all get a good night sleep. She visits her son 3 times a week and has him stay when he wants to which is usually once a month. Wish they had that in Australia, I know my son would thrive. My son has L3 asd and adhd and it’s been rough. My son does not get the bus to his autistic school but I take my other son to school first he gets dropped off early then I take my other son to his school. Maybe you can do that. I’m not letting my son miss out and be out of sorts in another area of his life cos of his brother as that builds resentment.

Yes I’m super excited but also need to be patient
