Crosschecking penalty does not exactly mean "hitting people with horizontal stick". We would not see many minutes of 5on5 if that was the case. It's usually awarded only when you drop someone with a menacing crosscheck between the pads, or beating people outside or after the play, especially for retaliation. This was a solid call.

I see that crosscheck 100 times a game and it's never called. Refs are trying to make this game as unwatchable as they can
This was retaliation for a legit hit. Crosschecks during puck battles or in front of the net are not comparable to this. You are welcome.
