Want to preface this with i 100% love my placement and the challenge of my workload. But, I want to let you know how much work you get really depends on your placement. I know girl who teaches at 5 different schools. Some schools have their NETS teaching 100% alone ,while others have them only doing games. Some CTs like mine, helped alot with settling in ,while others are like; "I'm sure you can figure it out on your own." It's best to come here without any expectations of the workload and ease, because you just never know ~
@@Lxmxn97 This is great advice! Just a quick point to add on - it's illegal to have native teachers teaching along in the classroom during their scheduled hours (after school hours are different) so your friend should really speak to their school about that!

I just landed in Daegu to start at my Hagwon. This first night away from home is so rough. Missing all my people at home already. Was your first week difficult for you? It’s so overwhelming right now girly I feel TOO many emotions outside of my comfort zone.
Hey there I'm not in Korea atm but I saw your comment and wanted to reach out! My first Hagwon was near a suburb of Busan and I remember feeling just like you, very lonely and missing my friends and family. It was definitely tough at first, but eventually I got used to it. Right now it doesn't feel so good but as you take your time to explore and get to know the area things will feel better. One advice I can give is to you is to try and see if you can join group chats or facebook groups and become friends with people who live in your city. Going up to Seoul and meeting up with friends is always nice but sometimes it's good to just have friends you can do local things with. My last advice to you would be to explore as much as you can, even if it's going to a cafe down the street, or checking out a shop/restaurant that you find interesting. It's better to do that instead of staying home and feeling the loneliness creeping in. Don't forget you can always call your loved ones too for support :) I hope you have a lovely time in Korea, and if you have any questions feel free to lmk :)

Idk if you’ll see this since you posted this a while ago but I was wondering how tax worked while you’re working with EPIC. Like do you have to pay UK taxes on top of Korean taxes?
Hey! Yes, you do have to pay taxes whilst teaching in Korea. The levels depends on what country you are from, but you can also claim some back when you eventually leave Korea too😊

I did EPIK for 8 years and needed a change. I've now worked from home for 3 years so far and the students come to me so it's easier and better money.
