It is not as vivid as I expected and Coastal botanicals are not exposed enough but still it is really smooth, delicate gin. Cheers!

So glad you liked the video 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 And yes, sounds like a good plan - all of a sudden it is gone and then you would HATE yourself for not getting those extra bottles… believe me - I have experienced that too many times 😜 Thanks for watching 🙏🏻👍🏼

picked up a bottle awhile ago & just opened it as i was waiting for the right moment to taste it. hence it’s slowly ageing as well but it’s really good! 10/10 for me😋 i would love to make my own cocktail recipes with any version of hendricks gin

Totally agree - it’s a really good gin 👍🏼 Get creative- would love to hear your favorite recipe. Hendricks has a few suggestions on their homepage but I would love to hear your ideas. Enjoy - and thanks for watching 😊👍🏼

Such a well made video. Few little suggestions? Hope it’s fine?
    1) should’ve tasted the neptunia first, on a “clean” palate and then the regular one
    2) should’ve ideally waited just a little longer (or should’ve openly cut to …. 2 mins later… with a cleaner palate for the next one. Viewers would’ve liked that more I feel )
Either way, nicely made video. Although i really hope it gets a lot more views cos it feels quite a bit underrated wrt views. Good luck and keep them coming :)
Love and light from Mumbai, India

*should’ve had the neptunia first in this case assuming that you’ve already had the Hendricks a few times before, so you know what to expect overall
Hence neptunia first and followed by the regular one minute later. Ideally :)
      Thank you

Hi “S 99” Thank you so much for your comments and suggestions. I get what you are saying - I just never thought that people would taste more versions, but doing it like you did, makes a lot of sense. Point taken!
I am probably doing something wrong in regards to TH-cams algorithm but in general, gin videos doesn’t get a lot of traction. I just love that people like you - all the way from Mumbai - find my little video and fell like commenting it… my videos are only made because I love gin and the many stories behind, so when someone like you like them, I am really happy! 😊
      Thanks again for watching

@@highongin well, people might not taste more versions together at once. I just meant to say that if you’re tasting both versions together (for sake of viewers) you rather taste the newer version first.
Yes I’m in Mumbai, but TH-cam is now a small world (along with the world of spirits)
Also, you’re right about the TH-cam algorithm. There are so many “spirits reviewers” from India who are getting unbelievable amounts of views. And most of their video is absolutely rubbish, honestly speaking. But yes, we have decent population here so it just compounds, as senseless as it might be.
Your video along with even the thumbnails are beautiful. So classy.
My ex gf is a TH-cam “influencer” here with 5 million subs and I’ve seen the kind of work that goes into the videos.
Having said that, one thing you could do is say “if you’re a gin connoisseur/ enthusiast/ etc, and if you like this video, be sure to like and share. Also subscribe to this channel for more fun reviews”
      Or something similar
You seem like a nice guy. I wouldn’t spend so much time writing to you otherwise :)
      Take care and cheers
      Drink up

@@juicymango69 I love how you say that you have “a decent population” 😂👍🏼 And your ex has 5 million subscribers??? Oh my… 😳😳😳 Incredible!!!
And you are right - it takes A LOT of time exploring, testing, preparing, recording, editing & publishing and with a very busy (real) full time job on the side, I have to take some breaks doing these videos. But again - I only do it for fun and for the love of gin!
I love the fact that the world of spirit has become so “small” and that we all get to taste gin from all over the world. I still have to explore Indian gin some more and see what you do with your wonderful spices but I am pretty sure I won’t be disappointed… As an example, I saw the reviews Stranger & Sons got… wauw!
Thanks again for taking the time to write your thoughts and ideas… highly appreciated

@@highongin haha yes there’s a lot of us. Nearly 1.5 billion. Yes, my ex has her makeup tutorial channel mostly for her target audience here.
And yes, we do have some nice gins - stranger and sons, as you mentioned, Jaisalmer, Samsara Pink, blue moon, doja (blend of Indian and Japanese gins) etc
Most common, pocket friendly, “street” gin has always been Blue Riband.
Good luck for your channel. Take care

I was recently introduced to gin with The Botanist. I found it has a really lovely silky mouth feel I haven’t encountered with other spirits. I have since tried several other bottles and haven’t really found an equivalent in the mouth feel (with a dry martini or extra dry, or neat). Is there anything you’ve found that has a nice oily/silky/velvety mouth feel? My most recent bottles have been: The Botanist, Roku, Nikka Coffey, Uncle Val’s, Principe De Los Apostles Mate, and a few local Gins. Just to give you an idea.

    • @josephstark4944

I will add a second question here as well. For someone just starting their gin journey, are there one to three bottles you would point me towards to try next? The only thing I’ve tried so far I didn’t like is Bombay Sapphire

    • @highongin
      @highongin  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

The Botanist… now, there is a cool gin - simply love it. 🤩🤩🤩
There are several botanicals that will add to this silkiness - almonds, macadamia, licorice root, just to name some. Some base spirits (like potatoes) are said to add a slightly creamy feel as well. So, a combination of things can make a very velvety result.
Temperature has a lot to say - as the temperature drops, the viscosity (or the thickness) of the liquid increases, improving the texture of the gin. You might loose/change some flavors (compared to the gin being at room temperature) but if you do this with a high proof gin or a very juniper heavy gin, it doesn’t feel like it looses flavors. If you haven’t tried this you really should - it is such a cool way to try your gin neat.
I’ll try to think if I can come up with some gins with this silky texture to it… 👍🏼
And cool gins you have bought- especially Nikka Coffey is one of my favorite gins. I have a video review of that if you are interested.

@@josephstark4944 Uhh… that’s a though one… taste is SO individual. But I would say that if you want to explore the world of gin, take it to some of the “edges” of what gin is… try a Navy Strength (57-58% ABV) like Tarquin’s Seadog Navy Strength or Ki No Bi Sei - try a juniper centric gin like Moor’s gin (only juniper in it) or one of the gins from Never Never Distilling Co - try a floral gin like G’Vine Floraison (very little juniper berry) - try a sloe gin…
There is SO much to try!!!
Three of my favorite distilleries to look at are distilleries like Four Pillars, Cambridge Distillery and Kyoto Distillery (Ki No Bi)
Hope this was just a little helpful!!! 😊
