Wow! I had just barely enrolled in school when I first saw this arcade at Chuck E Cheese's way back in the mid 80s. I just stood in front of the arcade to listen to the intro tune every time my family took us there. Oh sweet notalgia! 🤘😎🔥
I was about 12 and like a dummy it took me about 20 tries and 20 dollars before realizing that up was down and down was up on the joystick. I died a million times in the first try determined to make it work 🤣
I actually managed to beat this game in the arcade in 1987. HARD. The key was to ignore the instructions of the guy telling you to go "left, right down" and just watch the arrow. Sometimes the timing was off and if you moved when the voice told you to, you died. If you just went by the arrow, you'd be fine.
I'm proud to say I mastered this game as a kid at the age of 12. But don't think too highly of me. It took me about $20 to figure out that the joystick was in reverse. Up was down and down was up, you know, like in a real helicopter? So I died literally every single time in the first round and I STILL dropped loads of coins to play it. Coolest game ever :D
I remember seeing this video game back at the former Galaxy 2 Arcade center back in the Summer of 1987 as a 14 year old because back in the 80's as a teenager I wasn't supposed to be out of my neighborhood , I've left the block anyway to go to the arcade to play these video games including Cobra Command even though I had no Money to play this game & was told to leave by the Arcade employees there but I later returned to play that game & many others for hours on end until I've ran out of Quarters that day but now all of these Arcade Gaming Centers are now gone for good since we now have home gaming consoles with better gaming graphics & all .
My cousin and I dropped loads of tokens into this one when we were kids. Never got past the second level. Ha ha, anyway, I always thought the narrator, or whatever here always said: "Your mission is to destroy Colonel Est's stronghold!" But, now, 30 some odd years later, I know the truth. Lol, Happy Halloween!

i remember just watching this intro if i didn't have the money to play. then watch other people spend fifty cents to die in three minutes.
