My first cEDH deck I built a few months ago, so happy to see it get some love! I run mine with Nexus of Fate and Liliana/Aminatou line, with all the top deck tutors available there's so much you can do with this deck!
I love you for this. I used to main Yennet and you’ve just given me the validation I need to bring her back. The Crypt / Jewelled Lotus ban had me feeling like she is officially dead
Nicely done! Been tinkering with a Malcolm deck and had fun resolving an Enter the Infinite into Thoracle. My pod respected Malcolm a lot more after that. Yennet feels similar but with added access to two more Colors feels like a natural progression for me from mono Malcolm into something I’d like to pilot in the near future
Love these spicy deck techs, keep it up bro huge fan here Hoping maybe one I can see a sefris deck tech, it's my main cEDH deck and would love to see it highlighted
Yennett runs very similar to my Marvo deck. We run many of the same cards, just that my deck focuses on the Clash mechanic to generate advantage, while Yennett is focused on specifically odd cmc cards. There is definitely a suite of good cards to use in white I wish I had access to, though.
I remember playing Yennett as my “casual cEDH” deck for a while, as it turns out being an esper cat that combos with another card is only so bad of a place to be. Might actually update the deck for the bans now
Yennett is such a sweet deck, sure it might not be a deck that everyone would even consider to be the top tier of cedh commanders, but to me shit like this is why cedh is so sweet. Im currently trying to brew a alela deck and honestly when I pick up the deck I might just pick up the other pieces for yennett too so I can have a bit of both lel.
Alela is fun but I think it's just not going to work in the Thoracle meta. I have a fully powered version that stomps casual tables but has no chance against true cedh decks.
My first competitive deck was Yennett The main combo was Isochron scepter imprinted mystical tutor or vampiric plus nexus of fate Gets infinite turns and you kill with commander damage Good memories
Have you thought about Amphibian downpour as a second way to deal with a creature board. It is worse than toxic is some situations but being able to make creatures become 1/1 nothings especially to commanders is great.
Great Video! Out of curiosity, how would you handle someone like Sam Black for example, who would instantly concede to an Emrakul in order to leverage a possible draw, and make your Emrakul fizzle? Is it dependant on Tournament rules or do you try to talk it out with them? Cheers
I've been trying out Leonardo da Vinci in my LGS's high power casual - mid tier Cedh group. There usually is a number of people who are trying unique brews for Cedh. I can attest that Portal to Phyrexia is a powerhouse, especially if you cheat it into play pretty early. The craziest thing to me is that WotC didn't make it a Legendary. With Unctus or Master of Etherium out which boosts artifact creatures P/T, there exist cool interactions like making a thopter version of Auton Soldier & then when I go to combat, swing the Auton Soldier which is a copy of the Portal to Phyrexia Thopter. This grants myriad & creates two more portals. Pretty much a boardwipe each turn I attack.
I agree with this sentiment. Most cedh decks right do don’t go super wide and run all the creature draw engines to generate card advantage. This card is very strong if you can cheat it out and will often go 6+ for one and put you in a really good position to win the game if you can close in the next turn cycle or two.
it would be really funny if you run isochron scepter, mystical tutor, and nexus of fate in the deck. just take infinite turns and casting nexus off yennetts attack trigger every turn. is it good, probably not. but would it be awesome to pull off, yeah lol.
best boardwipe after deluge has got to be wrath of the skies, right? if you want the flexibility of these x-boardwipes, it feels like hitting artifacts and enchantments with wrath of the skies could be even more valuable than the mana efficiency of nuclear fallout
Valley floodcaller allows you to cast noncreature spells at instant speed, so you cant beseech bargaining it getting the cat, and then beseech allows you to cast the cat since it costs 4 or less and you bargained it ignoring timing restrictions
So…a top player can take a commander that provides some sort of advantage, a pile of good cards, and in decent colors…and do well. No shade, but like a few commenters have noted almost any deck would probably have worked…something like Tymna/Malcolm. You would have probably murdered people with Sharuum almost as easily.
Seeing you winning with Emrakul in such a deck, a 5 mana commander that also needs to attack... Make me really consider Emrakul in other decks in which it is even easier to cast, but its usually isnt good enough anyway. Like Dihada, you fill your yard and ramp, which easily get you a t3 Emrakul. But still how can Emrakul be a gameplan
You did not mention Oppo wincons with scheming like Oppo a vamp, get a DT -> DT scheming -> 2 tutors. Incarnation technique might be nice as you have a lot of topdeck tutors. Card is much better than people give it credit due to the awkwardness of the card. One way to beat blue rhystics.
I'm paraphrasing, but Lamora's Cards said Ian can Top 4 with rusty knife... very impressive!
Yeah. „A smith & wessen beats 4 aces“ - kinda situation 😂
Ya
They called him the tom Brady of cedh 😂. I seen that video, and found myself having to agree
A rusty butter knife even
@ haha yep
Ian can you top 4 with Tayam?

Now that’s a thumbnail
Seeing these brews are the reason I stopped getting on reddit. If you are comfortable with a deck even if its is niche you can perform well.

At this post I firmly believe you can make the top cut with any commander.

I'm sure at this rate, we will end up seeing - "I've top 4'd a Tournament with Varis, Silverymoon Ranger." one of these days.

Topdeck is the best gamestore in south jersey tournament wise. They can run a hell of an event, and their owner is an awesome guy
i challenge you to build Sentinel sarah lyons next. its an ALL time favorite of mine in casual. but if anyone can make it cEDH. it would be u lol

why no doomsday? i like using it together w Lorien Revealed, sea gate restoration or Brainstorm to assemble Thassa lines w Yennet

What do you think about using emrakul instead of shadow of mortality in Yuriko?
I’ve been wondering about greeves lately. Like it seems like it should be in more lists. But I’m still new to the format

Is this not just an actually good version of Yuriko?
Yuriko was actually a 99 in Yennett's precon. Yennett does not ping opponents after top deck reveal just free cast if odd.
