    videos in high speed and with no verbal descriptions are very disappointing! could have been a great video, but instead is frustrating for what might be a good idea.☹️

      hey there- thanks for your feedback. this video was intended to be fun & entertaining, not a tutorial. the full step by step DIY tutorial is on my blog & i've now linked that above for other folks who may want to check that out too, based on your input, so thanks again! here's that link: www.alchemyeclectic.com/blog-a-dazzle/2016/6/pjdiy-pipe-flange-bed-frame all best!

    Nice work, I really enjoy the more industrial look, I was just wondering if you were going to build something for a queen sized bed do you think you would want to add an additional metal pipe down the center for added support or would the wood piece be sufficient?

    • @pjmehaffeyyall
      @pjmehaffeyyall  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your comment! With the full size bed frame I made above, an additional center support wasn't necessary, but for a Queen or larger size, you'd most likely want to have some sort of center support. Thanks and good luck!

    What are the exact dimensions of the pipe pieces and the wood slats/supports, please? I was thinking of making something like this

      hi Marissa- thanks for your interest in the project. You'll want to contact Simplified Building directly & provide your specific mattress dimensions as well as your desired 'headboard' height to them & they will be able to cut your pipe pieces accordingly. The pipe pieces we used in the video were pre-cut by Simplified Building based on the specific mattress dimensions I supplied to them. Since each mattress manufacturer has slightly different mattress dimensions, you'll want to measure your mattress you intend to use (or find out the dimensions from your mattress manufacturer if you're buying brand new). Simplified Building has an amazing customer support department and made this project extremely easy. Here's the direct link for the pipe bed tutorial I followed on Simplified Building website: www.simplifiedbuilding.com/projects/how-to-build-a-pipe-bed-frame
      You can also call them at 888-527-2278 or email customer service at: info@simplifiedbuilding.com
      Good luck and thanks again for writing!

    Thanks for the video, after using it for a year, do you notice any shifting of the kee klamps? Or any squeaky noise?

      Mark Crawford
      Hey Mark- thanks for reaching out & sincere apologies for my delay in responding...I designed this bed for my clients’ guest bedroom and after all this time they haven’t mentioned any issues with loosening of the kee klamps whatsoever. And I was actually a guest & slept in the room back in Sept and it was as solid & secure as the first day we assembled it...but even if loosening does occur, it’s super easy to tighten...hope this helps & good luck!

    Hi there! I didn't quite catch how you made the pipes stay together and hold them in place. Also, how did you join the wood and the pipe?

    • @pjmehaffeyyall
      @pjmehaffeyyall  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hey Maria- the pipes stay together with Kee Klamp pipe fittings that have built-in hex head screws. You use the appropriately sized hex head tool to tighten the screws once you've set the pipe into the pipe fitting. The wooden slats are cut to size and assembled in place once your bed frame is built. You have to leave enough length on your wood slats on all four sides to overlap the pipes...then by gravity, combined with the weight of the actual mattress, your wooden slats don't move. The slats aren't physically joined to the pipes. For more detailed info on the whole project and how I completed it, check out my how-to blogpost here:
      www.alchemyeclectic.com/blog-a-dazzle/2016/6/pjdiy-pipe-flange-bed-frame
      Also, check Simplified Building, which sells all the pipe and pipe fittings and can help you get all the necessary pieces to make your own bed here:
      www.simplifiedbuilding.com/
      Hope this helps you and best of luck! Take Care!

    What’s with the stupid level

    • @pjmehaffeyyall
      @pjmehaffeyyall  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was used to ensure that all of the pipes were level (& ultimately the mattress) when entire frame was assembled together on the uneven floor.

      So that your blood don't flow to your head and you don't die in your sleep. It's also easier to breathe and you don't wake up on the floor in the morning.
      Happens to me all the time. True story.
      It also disturbs the time- space fabric so you better level it, if you don't want to end up like Bill Murray in Ground Hog Day.
      Up to 30% cold murder cases in North America especially in motels are due to Highly uneven floors!!! Your body and your head are of a different diameters. So, at the top of rolling speed their linear sped will be different(I am not lying, ask your school teacher) and the head would separate from the body and end up in the nearby field, while the body, like a snow ball get rolled into the sheet and fall into the owners open suite case. And the lid may even get closed by the disturbance.....if only policemen had a level holsters on their belts as well....
      Yep, uneven floors are the main reason behind climate change, recessions and major(no pan intended) military conflicts.
      Good question. Thanks for asking 👍
      Now, I sleep on the cheap foldable sofa/footon/whatever. One side of it tilted 5 degrees in and another about 10 degrees in. No rolling of this one. Must be designed by a genius....

    • @pjmehaffeyyall
      @pjmehaffeyyall  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey there & thanks for your comments...yes, this is a full (double) bed frame...all of the parts are available from www.simplifiedbuilding.com, but note that you also have to build (or have someone build) the wooden support slats, as they do not supply the wooden slats...i wrote an entire tutorial blogpost about this project here:
      www.alchemyeclectic.com/blog-a-dazzle/2016/6/pjdiy-pipe-flange-bed-frame
      here are the parts you need, but note that these are specific sizes made for the mattress i used on the project with dimensions of 54”w X 75”l X 10”d:
      20-7 Side Outlet Elbow, 1-1/4" (2 quantity)
      21-7 90 Side Outlet Tee, 1-1/4" (2 quantity)
      10-7 Single Socket Tee, 1-1/4" (2 quantity)
      15-7 90 Elbow, 1-1/4" (2 quantity)
      61-7 Flange, 1-1/4" (4 quantity)
      Size 7 Gator Tubing 12 Gauge 1 1/4" 4.5" long (2 quantity)
      SIze 7 Gator Tubing 12 Gauge 1 1/4" 25" long (2 quantity)
      Size 7 Gator Tubing 12 Gauge 1 1/4" 75" long (2 quantity)
      Size 7 Gator Tubing 12 Gauge 1 1/4" 50.5" long (4 quantity)
      hope this is helpful and good luck! :)
