The doors connecting the rooms in the back is probably meant to connect adjoining rooms for parties renting multiple rooms. In many motels there is a double sided locked door in the wall between rooms for this purpose. Being an old motel is probably why it's set up so weird in the back.
The East Coast where I am has it's share of open spaces. The midwest/west definitely has a greater percentage of a vast amount of open area. I have(and most Americans I believe) only traveled to a handful of states. I would love to go out west end see more National parks. There are 124 State parks in Pennsylvania and 19 National parks. The National parks in Pennsylvania are a fraction of the size of the ones in the western half of the country.
Yep. The good ol' west. Well that's where I live is the west. And yep. The John Wayne movies. 1) If you ever go to the desert area, drink water. Drink it whether you're thirsty or not. 2) Breaking Bad is in New Mexico and it's the neighbor of Arizona. 3) Go to the desert areas during late spring to early summer. Best way to beat the heat in the easiest way.
I love to travel, and have been to 46 of our beautiful 50 states, to Gander, Newfounland and a couple of other places in Canada, and to Europe (England, France, Monaco, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, and Holland), and I've seen beauty in every place I've visited. I've met so many nice people during my travels, as well as a lot of history (which i love). Thank you for sharing this video. I enjoyed seeing the places they visited.
The Grand Canyon must be seen to be believed, it is more colorful in person. My sister and I went about 3 years ago and it was amazing! The sunrises and sunsets are stunning!
Oh yes! I live in Arizona. I've lived in New Mexico and also California. The West is the best, as Jim Morrison once said. Gotta admit, though, that East Coast food is the best food. Born & raised in Philly. Very interesting video, thanks BP1!❤
Many of those older bottles on the tree bottle Farm turn color in the Desert Sun especially the cobalt blue ones. Regarding the Open Spaces you would find the East Coast closer to what you know in England west of the Mississippi it's just so much land that you can go hundreds of miles without seeing anything
My son and daughter in law work in the canyon. Most of the time they fly down and back up each day but many times have took the trail down the canyon. It’s something most don’t even try. They drive all the way there and just look over the edge. They miss the massive canyon that looking up and not down and see the walls all around you is mind blowing. The trail down is for those in good shape to take though but will be an experience they will never forget and appreciate for life. The river is massive and a must see and take a river raft ride. So much wild life there also is down the canyon. There are also Native American ruins to visit, one can take a helicopter ride down and over the canyon too. There is also a point on can take a zip line solo over a part of the canyon. A friend of mine did it and was bubbling with excitement telling me about it. Kind of sad to see such a short clip of the canyon when it as so much to offer. There is also native tribe deep in the bottom of the canyon that allows visitors to their famous waterfalls but it’s an 8 mile hike but so worth it.
I grew up in Indiana and my dad who didn't enjoy driving at all took us to visit the Grand Canyon and other places in the West when I was 14. It was my favorite family vacation. I'm sure he was relieved to pull into our drive at the end of our trip. 😅
Been to Oatman many times! It can be a very busy place certain times of the year. They have festivals, entertainment, car shows, etc… Beautiful drive though to see it. Gail
If you don't mind me asking,is that best hotel, motel they could find ? I realize it's desert and pretty far out. I have never been there so I am curious. Thanks
@@cathyhatfield445 There are several much better options for hotels/motels in Flagstaff. They probably picked that HoJo because it was the cheapest of the cheap... and they got what they paid for.
I live two hours drive from the canyon. Love your channel. If you're ever out Arizona way, I'd be glad to run you up (one day is enough unless you're doing a long hike).
If you want to see the non tourist areas of the Southwest go to the channel desert Drifter. He hikes cross country into the Canyons of Arizona and Utah looking for ancient Native American sites built into the canyon walls. This is true Wilderness hiking but the ruins he finds and climbs to are absolutely amazing and so is the landscape you'll really see the diversity of the desert
Lots of video on TH-cam of Oatman. Plenty of people by day even a cowboy gunfight in the middle of the street. Horsebend is about 7 miles south of the Arizona/Utah border and the northern end of the Grand Canyon which goes for 270 miles till it ends at Lake Mead. That’s the Colorado river 1000’ below that carved out the Grand Canyon
Oatman is not a ghost town. They may have meant it appears to be one because the businesses were closed and no one is in the area. But people do live there. Flagstaff is a great city. Not sure what possessed them to stay outside of town in a cheap motel but there are many nice, attractive hotels amongst the trees when you go into town.
As everyone says: videos do not do justice to the Grand Canyon. I was surprised that they now have a $10 fee. (am thinking most places do now). Am Californian for many years.
Never walk to Horseshoe Bend without water, even if it isn’t that hot out. The walk is not long, but in the middle of the day, you need water and signs are posted at the parking lot and entrance of the trail warning tourists. Too many rescues of people fainting from the heat have happened.
This just looks like a movie set. I guarantee it’s a prop and not a real town. If it was, then it’s now a ghost town only for tourists to believe it’s real

I agree, I wouldn’t want to be in a sports car either. Like you said, something big and beefy and made for comfort.

I wouldn’t want to live in desert but in the subtropical climate where trees grow big and green

Yeah, in the desert I’d want a different car. For the Pacific Coast Highway, we regreted not renting a convertible.
You have to see the Grand Canyon in person to understand it.
Been to most of those but never wanted to live anywhere near those places. Give me mountains, lakes, trees and snow.

No matter how many photos and videos of the Grand Canyon you see, it really hits you when you stand on the edge and take it all in.
Or hike to the bottom and back out.

Nice video, what an awesome country, I have been to San Fransisco but would love to visit the USA again.

Alow me to quote Jim Morrison, "The west is the best." He may have been Floridian, but he made his bones in SoCal.

@ I really don’t know. We always visited for the day but never stayed the night at any place in the town. Sorry. Gail

Thank you 🙏 for sharing ☝️to Grand Canyon usually extremely less people and it is magical place experience with 3 different temperatures ☝️👋☮️
I’m in Tennessee and I’ve been to Europe but I’ve never crossed the Mississippi! Yet!

Stagecoach not Chariot. LOL
Well I live in a West Virginia
Southwest ! Not South ! Different.
Huge difference.

Horseshoe Bend is on Navajo land, the charge goes to the Res, not the US parks.

lol it’s a Ghost Town because no one lives there anymore and I’m sure you can’t stay the night there.
Not a very exciting video but the Grand Canyon is a wonder.
It's the desert 7 can have it
That ain't the south.
If you do visit America, research, research, research first.
They needed to do better research on what to do and where to go....
RIP PEANUT .
