- Here is the first part in a collection of ludicrous Lee Mack tales... Honestly, it's crazy how many of these are actually true.
Would I Lie to You? is the hit BBC panel show where two teams of celebrity guests try to figure out whether their opponent's ridiculously far-fetched statements about themselves are true or, in fact, a lie.

Lee is unbelievably quick at jokes but remarkably slow at coming up with words based on the first letter. 3rd time he has had that sort of lie on the card and everytime it is hilariously implausible.
Like, with the key one, he is almost superhuman in his "bolt" "yes, I wish I could" joke. But fails to come up with anything at all for what the keys are for. Like he is using 100 percent of his brain power to think of funny things.
BERMUDA was a tough one to pull off though. Most unlikely, to say the least.
obviously never been to a recording then.....these are funny but sitting there is not haha, there is a reason they look down constantly (at script) and when they mess up joke, reply or just word, we go again, I mean you can see it in recordings when dont use 1st take but alas, Lee is still a genius, (and Sean as other comment mentioned) infact, I wish they would show the real jokes and mistakes, they had us in tears

I just love how absolutely delighted David is every time Lee is given a ridiculous lie like this. The process of torturing Lee (and the brilliant wit of his replies) seems to be giving him much pleasure (and I don't blame him, it's hilarious).
Lee’s ability to reel off jokes so quickly is truly genius!

Hyperactivity can mean fast talking, finishing someone's sentence before they do, etc.
He's also talked about how his divided attention allows him to listen to multiple conversations at a time while forming a joke in the back of his mind
I'm ADHD too, as are all my family and friends, and we often have quickfire banter like this
They should do a compilation of Lee with the most ridiculous lies that he complains about after his answer, clearly knowing just reading the card that the producers are taking the piss out of him
The fact that Lee is almost always lying and every one knows that, and still his stories are so damn entertaining, is a testament to his immense talent.
David and Lee are pure gold. National Treasures. It’s not easy, what they do. Brilliant light entertainment. ❤

Lee macks quick wit is legendary
They always make it harder for Lee with ridiculously ludicrous claims that its hard to even imagine the scenario, even James Acaster and Bob Mortimer would struggle, how Lee manages to carry the show sometimes is underrated 😂😂

I think as a comedian Miles probably predicted that joke and was teeing it up for lee but for whatever reason he didnt take it

I kinda love that the show has evolved into "a few C list celebrities tell weird things about themselves, Lee and David tell the wildest lie they can come up with, and Bob Mortimer exists."
VERY surprised he didn't come back to Mile's "I think it's a step too far." with "I can't take a step too far, the elastic won't let me."

I still love WILTY but I do think the post covid ones feel really awkward and hollow at times😕 doesn’t help the team members being so far apart
Same here. I sometimes think they should just end the show since they don't seem to want to change the seating arrangements back to normal and as a result of that there's a slight awkwardness now in the show. Also, I'm sure Lee and David have run out of any stories to use for the show making it harder for them to lie convincingly.

The fact that Lee Mack's stories are never true and he can't even be arsed to play the game have a lot to do with the problem.
The production team must know what good comedy consists of: some sense of reality. Like, the more far-fetched a story, the less comedic effect it has. PLUS! The very basis of this game is to surprise the audience with the outcome.
Bob Mortimer is the best example for this. His anecdotes are barely conceivable the way they're told by him, yet _you never know_ whether they're true or not. And *that's* the point. Scotch egg for Damon Hill? TRUE! Visiting the local witch's house? TRUE! Having a bath in Chris Rea's recording studio's bath wherein he'd cracked an egg for you? LIE! Bob's a certified dog masseur? LIE! Bob was called "the cockroach king"? TRUE!

Lee Mack's genius is wasted on those _obviously BS_ stories, and the whole thing is getting boring.
Good comedy writers know what I'm talking about.

Hello Lee I just want to say you're a great comedian you're right up there with Robin Williams and John Candy. I do want to say I appreciate your show not going out because if I hadn't have been watching that I wouldn't have been turned on to Bobby ball and Cannonball and now I have a whole new set of comedians to watch thank you very much!❤❤❤
