Lisa is bad at lyricism Its true the Lisa wrote and co-ed most production of both music video sets and the music itself. She even wrote lyrics that fall flat because they can't deliever how YG manage artists.
My problem with her songs is that they lack soul, they are songs that are too self-centered. The song is definitely a grower. On the first few listens I thought it was the worst thing i'd ever heard in my life but after listening to it a few more times it's slowly been growing on me and I dare say I actually like it. It's very different and experimental and isn't the typical YG formula we always get which I really appreciate it. The MV was so creative too and the choreography was perfect. I am nervous for her live performances tho, cause there is no way she hitting them notes.
Lisa is not an amazing or professional high tier vocalist but I will expect her to sing this song it’s in her range and during recording in the studio version she was comfortable.
yeah I thought it was okay for a first listen but when I came across this video I decided to listen to it again and it’s growing on me. You just have to keep listening to it and you’ll like it
For the most part I felt the same as you. The 10 second teaser sounded like random noise to me, so my expectations were low. After my first listen I didn't hate it per se, but I wasn't impressed. I'm going to assume the sample that was referred to was used near the end of the song because I felt that was the highlight of it. Everything else just felt forgettable. I feel like this is going to be a song I'll forget about in 2 weeks. Unless there's an amazing live performance that'll blow me away I just see the hype dying down quickly. It'll be interesting to see how much her fans are going to stream the MV, but if she's going the international route does that even matter as much anymore? Is she even going to bother promoting on korean music shows?

Idk what yall were expecting from her, the song sounds exactly like the genre and brand she’s built as an artist. It was obvious that Lisa was gonna go a more modern electronic pop rap route, she is after all a rapper and probably the most well known female rapper to ever come out of the world of kpop. it would be different if lisa actually changed her public image too, stopped taking the glutathione injections (allegedly) and doing other skin whitening things, and actually appeared in public with a tan. then it would be lisa just changing her public image and deciding to stop doing skin whitening treatments. definitely not this dark of a tan, because this is still way darker than her natural skin appears in her predebut photos, but having a tan would still be excusable. as it is right now it looks like she just bought a bunch of really dark self tanner and washed it off after the shoot. the mv was good, but the song was so bad. the arrangement could've been good, but the production was terrible. it amplified how nasally and bad lisa's singing is. her rapping is ok but she had some of the worst possible lyrics to rap. the entire song is just flexing which makes her solo career so far 3 songs that are literally only flexing. and while flexing occasionally is fine, flexing for all of your music just gives the impression that you have nothing else to say. and while lalisa and money can be excused by blinks and lilies as lisa still being under yg and not having any creative control, rockstar was her brainchild. she launched her own artist management company for it. she hired everyone, from producers, to songwriters, to directors, to managers. she was completely in control of this release, and she chose to release a nothing song with nothing to say.
Surprisingly, I enjoy the song. I never liked Lalisa and Money. This one is more experimental, I really like the sound. The bridge carries the song, and I really like the speak-singing or rapping in the chorus. Better than her rap verse for sure. But the lyrics are always the same for Lisa, I don't get it. I’m actually wondering what songs people are envisioning LISA to create when saying that they did not like this song. Lisas’ first solo LALISA was not my taste and I know how hyped her solo release was. Rockstar definitely hit a spot that was missing from LALISA. I’m not sure when she will be releasing an album however, I think a mini album would have been a good addition, with the audiences attention scattered through multiple songs rather than knit-picking at ROCKSTAR. I like the tame impala sample and those scenes of the song actually reminded me of Kai’s Mmmh song. Wish it could have been a bit longer. All in all, I am content. Other fans may not be but that’s the beauty of whatever Lisa decides to put out next.

The song is definitely a grower. On the first few listens I thought it was the worst thing i'd ever heard in my life but after listening to it a few more times it's slowly been growing on me and I dare say I actually like it. It's very different and experimental and isn't the typical YG formula we always get which I really appreciate it. The MV was so creative too and the choreography was perfect. I am nervous for her live performances tho, cause there is no way she hitting them notes.
Lisa is not an amazing or professional high tier vocalist but I will expect her to sing this song it’s in her range and during recording in the studio version she was comfortable.

For the most part I felt the same as you. The 10 second teaser sounded like random noise to me, so my expectations were low. After my first listen I didn't hate it per se, but I wasn't impressed. I'm going to assume the sample that was referred to was used near the end of the song because I felt that was the highlight of it. Everything else just felt forgettable. I feel like this is going to be a song I'll forget about in 2 weeks. Unless there's an amazing live performance that'll blow me away I just see the hype dying down quickly. It'll be interesting to see how much her fans are going to stream the MV, but if she's going the international route does that even matter as much anymore? Is she even going to bother promoting on korean music shows?

This song was so bad but again wasn’t expecting much from her
it would be different if lisa actually changed her public image too, stopped taking the glutathione injections (allegedly) and doing other skin whitening things, and actually appeared in public with a tan. then it would be lisa just changing her public image and deciding to stop doing skin whitening treatments. definitely not this dark of a tan, because this is still way darker than her natural skin appears in her predebut photos, but having a tan would still be excusable. as it is right now it looks like she just bought a bunch of really dark self tanner and washed it off after the shoot.
the mv was good, but the song was so bad. the arrangement could've been good, but the production was terrible. it amplified how nasally and bad lisa's singing is. her rapping is ok but she had some of the worst possible lyrics to rap. the entire song is just flexing which makes her solo career so far 3 songs that are literally only flexing. and while flexing occasionally is fine, flexing for all of your music just gives the impression that you have nothing else to say.
and while lalisa and money can be excused by blinks and lilies as lisa still being under yg and not having any creative control, rockstar was her brainchild. she launched her own artist management company for it. she hired everyone, from producers, to songwriters, to directors, to managers. she was completely in control of this release, and she chose to release a nothing song with nothing to say.

Actually y'all aren't that smart enough to know the actual meaning of the song.. Those lyrics which y'all are saying cringe like "teach Japanese" Etc etc.. Lisa was often mistaken as a Japanese singer also called as "liSa" Or "orisa" To the Western audience at first.. Then y'all Westerners thinks all the Asian looks the same so she purposely shows a scene where all the asian faces are together and Lisa is in the middle of them with the hoodie on.. And lastly no race owns a significant style to themselves legally.. Even indian ppl raps way before it was discovered to the Westerners and they're tanned too.. Being a normal citizen of this generation, I'd definitely wear braids or a metallic outfit.. Not because I wanna fit into a certain taste of ppl.. Because I feel like that's what I wanna wear.

I’m actually wondering what songs people are envisioning LISA to create when saying that they did not like this song. Lisas’ first solo LALISA was not my taste and I know how hyped her solo release was. Rockstar definitely hit a spot that was missing from LALISA. I’m not sure when she will be releasing an album however, I think a mini album would have been a good addition, with the audiences attention scattered through multiple songs rather than knit-picking at ROCKSTAR. I like the tame impala sample and those scenes of the song actually reminded me of Kai’s Mmmh song. Wish it could have been a bit longer. All in all, I am content. Other fans may not be but that’s the beauty of whatever Lisa decides to put out next.

I guess i have to keep an example the reason why lisa in the photo look black (her skin ) . Soo my sister has her miniprom she have white skin to white actually and the girl who did her makeup telled her she want to take a picture of her to post on instagram like she does with everyone ! So she did them when she got home , we checked how she looks in picture her face and body looked so black idk what she did to the photo but she looked exacly like lisa skin .
