I was 20 so I could have made it but alas, I was in the service. Picked a bad time to hook up with "Uncle Sam" but I wasn't too bright back then. Thank God for the movie and collector's edition of all the the incredible songs. 12/25/2023 so have a "Merry Christmas" & a "Happy New Year".
HOW ABOUT JUST THANK YOU? 🤷♂️🙏🏼✌️💖✌️✌️✌️✌️ FROM ANOTHER '70's bike riding hippie.... I often tell my nephew that he was LEARNING TO WALK while THIS music was still on the radio... My ALMOST 60 NOW - AND; I'LL BE IN a wheelchair when he can kick my ASS....!!! 🤷♂️🚗💖✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
Best performance and version of this song. Rocks a lot harder than the studio version which almost has a jazz influence to it (though I do love that version as well.)
One of my all time favs from CSNY. It says so much. Awesome song & many more follows. Just a couple years before my time, but I've always gotten it. There's so much passion & heart.
Lovely. I remember the day I walked into HMV Records in Oxford Street about '73, and found the triple album of Woodstock with that marvellous picture when you open the two folds (half a million people sitting happily in mud :). Heard these sounds for the first time then and discovered so much more superb music from that great event. Movie still well worth watching too.
Agree with everything everybody said nostalgic , brilliant music great times , was just a teenager when Woodstock played, listen how music had changed from early rock and roll, so many influences, where did all this brilliance come from, ok sound and recording techniques have got better in modern times but not the music
Gorgeous Version... Also, look up Jefferson Airplanes extended woodstock version (20 something minutes long). Paul Kantner from Jefferson Airplane co-wrote this awesome song with David Crosby and Stephen Stills... Great stuff!!!
There is great clip around that pops up now and then from 1974 (I think) of CSN&Y doing this song with Neil playing the opening lead on the Hammond (usually played on guitar by Stills).
Some group... ? This is Crosby Stills Nash and Young, at the very height of their powers. Saw them at the Albert Hall around 2011 and they still have it. BTW If you fancy some more stunning guitar from Woodstock look out Ten Years After playing "I'm Goin Home". Startling.
we who were young in the 60's and early 70's didnt realize how lucky we were to grow up listening to this music. Not sure what happened around 74 or so, but the bottom fell out-maybe Nixon had to be President for great music to happen?-I'm just sayin....
Interesting how nearly ten hours earlier the crowd heard a totally different take on the song during the Jefferson Airplane's set. Their version was darker and apocalyptic. CSNY's version is much more jazz flavored. Still, both versions are classics.
Cornel Rusan I guess it depends on what you feel access to re CSN or Airplanes version. This one is certainly prettier. JA's version is more for the space truckers.
I don't think Neil wanted video of this released, don't know why, but likely that is why this is audio only --these guys came on 3am on the last night and absolutely stole the show.
Stills was a good lead player in Buffalo Springfield, and continually improving. When he hung out with Jimi they often jammed-as they both loved to do-from 1967 on. Of course Stephen learned a few things while playing with Hendrix-who wouldn’t have!?! But Stills was on an upward trajectory lead wise either way...
That might have been due to the fact that it was probably taken from the Original Soundtrack album. On that LP when the song starts to fade out it leads right into "See Me, Feel Me" by the Who.
Its just amazing how just ONE 3 day concert touches peoples hearts for a lifetime
I was too young to be there, but for me, this song most perfectly captures that 60's vibe. No music like this today .... sadly.

Woodenship is such an extraordinary song ! Stephens guitar is like crying of beauties ! Genious men !
This is propably the best version of this song! I wish I had been there in woodstock ´´69. I wasn´t even born yet, nine years after.
+Tomi Paakkunainen This IS the best version of the song.
To me it's the ONLY version.
Joey Dunlop . I can see by your coat, my friend, you're from the other side . . .
Tomi Paakkunainen too bad it wasnt ten years after.. That group was there at Woodstock too! Im going home waz their song!
@@DoubleVisionandcototally agree❤
Stephen Stills singing to his guitar during the last solo is pretty amazing.
A classic then...a classic today.
The guitar solos in this song is something unplayable!!!!!!!!! It's so mysterious you can't record in mind...........awesome!!!!!!!!!!!
No, organ. Stills on lead guitar, Crosby on the slashing rhythm, Nash harmonizing.
@@ptownscribe1254 Young on electric organ on this.
Marvelous!!!Greetings from Greece

The recording is so warm.
One of my all time favs from CSNY. It says so much. Awesome song & many more follows. Just a couple years before my time, but I've always gotten it. There's so much passion & heart.
One of my ever favorite songs from the original Woodstock ‘69 soundtrack album... wish I could have been there when they performed it!!

I wish this version was on Spotify. I love love love love it and have only found it on *this* Woodstock compilation album.
the best version...love it
I was brought up listening to this version - didn't know any other existed! SUCH gorgeous music!
This is the correct song played in Woodstock! Thank you!
Always a classic
CSNY just always so amazing! Wish music was like this in 2012.
One of the highlights from Woodstock! This song still sends chills down my spine all these years later! Timeless piece of greatness!
Dallas Taylor, R.I.P.
Gorgeous Version...

Great stuff!!!
+Martin Franco I think the J.A. version has more feeling to it
It is interesting that hours after the Airplane played their extended version, we get the CSNY performance of the same song.
@@SargebriWhy not! They share the same purple beans..
TELLEMENT GRANDIOSE !
Listen to that swirling Hammond B3 with the Leslie cabinets (Neil Young?)Beautiful,Glenn.

thanks for this version
hahahah I agree!! Anytime brother/sister. Let's keep this great music alive!
Beautiful
Thank you very much. i had the LP but i had to leav it in my cuntry Venezuela.
Timeless 🎶
This is the version that came out on the Woodstock album.
fuck...this version it's amazing.....greetings from Lima-Peru........
Great! Love it!
Hmm, sounds like some group came prepared and lived up to the moment. Tone perfect rendition for the occasion.

The sound system.Whew!

Exelente desde woodstok que sigo disfrutando todos los temas
I love this version! No Problem! :D
Sorry for my late reply! You're very very welcome! Glad it made your day! :-D
Thank you!!!

The best song live of all the times 🤩 (even better than Whippin'post at Fillmore and Jailbreak Live& Dangerous)
Hola tantos años Yo tatiana Chávez desde Chile muy vuenos rrecuerdos años 70 ok mi volada

I hear ya...I was born long after 1969 (86 to be exact) so I understand. They just don't make them like they used to :-(
the definitive !!! 10
goooood feeeeeeeling....like on crystal needle point aciiiiiid..wooooh
If this is the Woodstock version, then it would be CSNY...since Neil Young performed it with them there. And I would love to have an MP3 version.

how does this have barely 2k views?
great :)
Much better than Jefferson Airplane version!!!
+Cornel Rusan I love Jefferson Airplane, but you're right. This version, for me, is the best.
Cornel Rusan
I guess it depends on what you feel access to re CSN or Airplanes version. This one is certainly prettier. JA's version is more for the space truckers.
The boys were pretty good live.
This is better than the studio original we all know.
Very Welcome! :-D
I don't think Neil wanted video of this released, don't know why, but likely that is why this is audio only --these guys came on 3am on the last night and absolutely stole the show.
Neil felt that the cameras were interfering with the band. Also, he wanted his music to do the talking.
louco é que não acho no youtube essa apresentação em video ...um desperdicio
You don't need us....
Hendrix taught stills how to play lead..
Hola
AWESOME, FANTSTIC, BEAUTIFUL! HOWEVER, THE END CUT OFF WAS TERRIBLE!
That might have been due to the fact that it was probably taken from the Original Soundtrack album. On that LP when the song starts to fade out it leads right into "See Me, Feel Me" by the Who.
That explains it, thanks
Book of Enoch Chapters 91-93...the SIXTH AND SEVENTH WEEKS. The Ark of the Covenant is in your Own Heart and Temple. We are LEEEEEAAAAVINNNGG.......
Graham Nash was the best of CSN. Stills and Crosby held him back.
But Young was best in CSNY.
