One downside on a box truck would be a vehicle breakdown. The truck would have to be downloaded to Tim's trailer if the box truck had to go into the shop. If it was a truck and trailer setup, then you simply unhook the trailer and hook it up to a spare or rental truck. But, just like everything there are pros and cons to everything. I love the fact of having all of your equipment with you and the easier maneuverability with using a box truck. (I run a truck and an enclosed trailer myself.)
Perry its funny you bring that up....that boxtruck has been in the shop many times. Because I made the racks the exact same it takes no time to move equipment from box to trailer. but I also have enough to outfit trailer with gear and just take a couple of things from the box.
I bet he could get side vents and a top vent for air flow , they install them on enclosed trailers. Also could probably wire up some sort of back up camera ? Great set up been watching these !!
I Like it 👍🏻 Thanks for Sharing ..... I Pull a 7 x 16 Enclosed with all my Equipment in it & I Like it But I have to Admit this Box Truck set up would be a whole lot Easier to Maneuver around Town and around your Regular Streets. Your Friend did a Really Nice Job with it 🇺🇸
I have a diesel i pull the trailer with. The gas per gallon is way more expensive and so is the maintenance (oil changes are more, fuel filters, glow plugs ets). To fill my equipment and the diesel cost me over 100$ (80 is just for the truck) With this one its 45-50 bucks. We will see how it goes
Excellent video Jason. I just purchased green touch weed eater rack for 2 the blower rack and the tool rack (rakes shovels etc) I run a tandem axle 14’ 24” high mesh side open trailer right now. I’ve been working out the bed of my truck. I have a hard tri folding tonnuea cover and am able to lock everything in my bed. But this week my hand helds have really given me a fit. They’re 2-3 yrs old so not old really. I figure they are vapor locking. So I broke down today at a local dealers open house and got the green touch package at 10% off. I’ve been thinking in my head that in the future I want a v nose 16’ enclosed trailer to setup like Tim has here but then I’ve heard of vapor locking issues with equipment in enclosed trailers too. I’ve got room in my shed for all my equipment I just watch the weather closely cause I’m no fan of leaving equipment in the rain. It cost to much to do so. Until I can build me a little bigger shop here at the house I like the idea of an enclosed trailer or box truck...you can just really get and stay organized as Tim displayed here. Thanks again for the video.
like the protection of box trucks but that is about all i like. truck go down then your down. not me i just back up another truck to trailer. customers walk up to my open trailer all day cause they can see
I think those (lockable) bi folding ramps that sit flat against the back door would be better, lighter and dont stick out like a dove tail. Maybe cheaper.. Ive always wanted to go that route for all the reasons u guys listed. U-haul has a website that sells its used trucks and there about $7500 up to 12,000 depending on age size and mileage etc. Nice not to unload every day and have a mobile shop. Expensive option fer sure tho. A lot could go wrong.
the folding ramps are 1500 PER SIDE. I've already looked into it. and that's for an NPR. different truck models are different prices. this is heavy gauge metal and lifetime warrantied. I think its well worth it and just adjusting to it being on the back is all you need to do. this ramp is also lockable but I don't I just lock the boxtruck door.
@@Shamrock365lawn wow 1500 per side? Nevermind! I just watched another video you and Jason made a while back where you were explaining your open trailer set-up and it was 7×14. You said you custom ordered it with FLAT top rails instead of round. Why? Im looking at a bigtex trailer 6.5×12 for my new lawn care biz (solo operator) and this particular model has round railing on each side. Will I still be able to mount equipment racks ? Is that why you prefer the square rails ? Thanks man. Q.2. Also what type and size trimmer line do you use for everyday work on your properties.
@@Shamrock365lawn yer hilarious dude. You really should make equipment videos if nothing else. I have ocd when im trying to decide on stuff so it really helps when someone like you describes the little details. Thanks again.

Great Idea using a box truck. I would have gone diesel just for the longevity and fuel mpg's. pretty sweet set up!!
