I'm glad that according to you created narrative that it became useful. I'm also glad to hear that USPA was fully integrated into the Starfleet Science and exploration division to add to it's existing Science Teams and the ideas and techniques were not lost. Great job! Can you imagine being in the swimming pool or bowling alley of a Constitution class during a deceleration from high warp, like what happened when the Enterprise was chasing the Gorn ship (Arena)? 😮
    I have to break out my blueprints to see what the orientation of the bowling alley was (pins fore or aft), but either you and the bowling ball achieved warp speed while making a strike, or the pins came at you, at an alarming speed.
    Don’t even get me started on the wave action in the swimming pool.
    Would love to see them do this in an episode of Lower Decks.

    • @galwitprifor001
      @galwitprifor001 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Dropping from warp wouldn't affect the ship, unless it was hit while at warp. On the other hand, doing a hard decel from impulse would probably momentarily affect the pool area, after which inertial dampeners would probably kick in.

    One of my favourite ships from the Spaceflight Chronology is The " Broadway Class " USS Hurok. a cultural exchange ship featuring amphitheatres etc what an interesting concept. I just love the cool shape of this vessel it looks so sleek and fast and svelte surly this should have been a ship meant for fast response and protection of federation planets ? Having this as a theatre ship is like having USS Iowa as a ferry its just not right! would love to see this ship in 3D and wit a new beta cannon roll (;

    The Star Trek: Space Flight Chronology Manual came out right around the time Star Trek: The Motion Picture premiered, or at least very soon afterward. There was a glut of Star Trek related publications that all hit at once when the movie came out, not all of it good. As a kid, I enjoyed this book up to a point, and that point was at the end of the book, stating that the Enterprise refit was launched at the START of the 23rd century. I still have the book and perhaps later editions corrected that, I don't know. It was a fun book but definitely not something to be considered canon. I enjoyed the workup here of the Mann class, though. It was even mentioned in the Star Trek novel, "The Klingon Gambit" (I think that's the one. I had every one of the Bantam Books Star Trek novels except for the very last one as a kid).
    As always, you do fantastic work and as a fan, I truly appreciate the energy and passion you put into your projects.
    Peace, and long life.

    Here's another reason why Starfleet likely never took on the more Spherical shaped ships. Smaller cross section, which would be harder to hit in a combat situation, and even though this thing is science based, having a smaller cross section would lessen the need for maneuvering if they get caught in a asteroid storm. Again, this is just from what I'm looking at

    The joint ventures and seperate ventures of UESPA and starfleet within the federation is a rather fascinating concept that I wish there was more of
    Hearing the description and such, a metaphorical comparison for non trek or “younger” fans to grasp might be that STARFLEET was comparable to the FBI under the larger FEDERATION government over the wide swath of the galaxy
    Whereas UESPA was a local system entity, which could have resources computed as needed, but would be more analogous to a local county of state level organisation.
    The idea is not unheard of as there are references throughout trek, notably DS9 (with a disclaimer understanding that at this point Bajor was not a federation member yet) - bajor had its own ships and fleet which operated under the “local” bajoran government, and had system patrols and such. Would make sense that aside from federation council/starfleet, the Sol system would have its own ships. The only issue there being with Earth as the federation capitol, there’s be jurisdictional overlap.

    So one question I always have, when u give the lengths of the ships have u ever thought of differentiating total length as well as length excluding the nacels?
    I always wonder about this because with reference to how long the nacels are you can get a better idea of the length in terms of internal space.
    I know it is not perfect and not sure if nacel lengths are included in specs but just a thought that may help give viewers a scale of the actually size of the main hull.
    I ask because some designs have HUGE nacels while others have small ones
