I think you meant "patriarchal" society, which would denote a more male dominant society. "Paternalism" is a separate concept altogether, which basically in simple terms would mean "interference without will". Paternalism can be connected to this story too, however that would have nothing to do with the societal oppression on women singularly...as it would affect all people irrespective of their gender. Thank you.
