    Thank You, Andrew, for taking the time to produce this Video, and also for supporting British Produce. You would think after all these years, the issue with the Union Jack would have been sorted out , it just should,nt be allowed to put that on Non home produced products!

    Just a thought, do you think silver spoon are missing a trick , the union jack is on the top of the bag, fairly hard to see when its on the supermarket shelf, the tate and lyle bag has it on the front where it can be seen easily, when people are shopping and see this, more easily it's easy to see why they think it's local, Has silver spoon got the package wrong and need a re design to promot the british product better,

    When I did sugar beet we used tramlines and I worked out that the four rows around the two missing tramline rows were a little bit heavier about a quarter more in weight so you only lost the equivalent to one row I use to lift ours with a single row tanker I could get across and back on normal rows for a tank full but if I took a normal row and a tramline row I could only get 3/4 of the way back

    Great to see the sugar beet coming up , I have a couple of questions, firstly as it’s coming up fairly clean in good conditions will you still use the cleaning hopper elevator to load the lorries to knock clean and secondly can they use the harvester any other product to lift out of the ground

    • @WardysWaffleAndrewWard
      @WardysWaffleAndrewWard  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The harvester can only be used for beet and we will still use the cleaner loader, it just improves the load quality.

    Agree fully about the labelling and the use of the union jack coupled with clever wording its almost fraud shame they are allowed to get away with it ,If I remember correctly Tate and Lyle were well up the league of single farm payment recipients ,Not as that has anything to do with the labelling but a shame they couldn't play the game and lead by example

    Great video as always, do you clean the beet again as you load it, or is it good to go? - One more, is the by-product sugar beet pulp still available as a cattle feed?

    • @WardysWaffleAndrewWard
      @WardysWaffleAndrewWard  ปีที่แล้ว

      We will still put it over a cleaner as the lorries are loaded, no matter how good the conditions are at lifting, soil and trash will still come out. Yes, beet pulp still available for livestock feed.

    Love seeing the sugar beet, as it's so amazing the volume of crop you harvest from the field. I'm growing wheat and oats this year on my allotment and would love to grow some sugar beet as a trial. Do you know much about the process of getting sugar from the beet, and do you think this would be possible to achieve at home? Also, where might be the best place to get a small handful of seed? Might I be able to purchase a very small amount from yourself? :)

    • @WardysWaffleAndrewWard
      @WardysWaffleAndrewWard  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I could post you a few seeds in an envelope, FOC. Not sure you’d be able to get the sugar out at home, it’s quite a detailed process in the factory.

    how many acres of beets does the typical farmer raise in your area? is it common to have contractors plant and harvest? where I raise beets in the US average is 500 acres of beets and nobody contracts planting or harvest

    • @WardysWaffleAndrewWard
      @WardysWaffleAndrewWard  ปีที่แล้ว

      It varies. We all have a certain number of tons on contract to British sugar. There’s a huge variation in yields so 2 farmers having the same tons contract will have different number of acres to grow those tons. We have a 4600 ton contract and try to fill that with only 140 acres.

    It's totally misleading and I bet there's no traceability now it's in that bag?
    The nfu should be raising these issues! I wonder if they are?
