@tooldrummer I'm not seconding your statement, as I feel that Mike and Jojo are both phenomenal. I do agree that Mike is disrespectful and immature a lot of the times though. Either way, I don't find whimsicality in the fact that Mike and Jojo shared the stage. Mike is amazing, just as Jojo is, so why can't they do a clinic together? Obviously, both musicians agreed on it.
@metalmike83 Mayer has done a lot of very odd-time playing, predominately during his earlier years playing in muscular fusion outfits like Screaming Headless Torsos and Lunar Crush. Frankly, I miss some of that playing from him now (his current playing is more finessed, but less muscular), but he is certainly capable of playing comparably in odd time with just about anyone.

I've seen Jojo videos where he's doing a traditional grip, heel-toe one-foot blast beat. Clearly he has a handle on techniques for hands and feet. Your saying Portnoy can do things Mayer can't is dwarfed by the mere thought of how fast Jojo could probably overachieve fixing that. Virgil Donati, Marco Minnemann... those guys are among who you'd say that about.
