I like that they are using a Wolverine from a different universe, because technically that means Hugh Jackman ISN'T returning as Wolverine, as we know him. THAT Wolverine is dead and will stay dead. Thus not tarnishing the legacy of Logan/all the work Hugh put into that character. I haven't been this excited for a movie since Avengers Endgame.

Gonna be nice to see Cavil and Radcliffe's variants and how they interpret their versions in their performances. This thing is bound to set a new record for multiverse cameos(Ready Player One come's to mind as well).
I do have an issue with K.F.'s reason for not bringing back OG Logan, and it's due to the MASSIVE space in time break between what happened in LOGAN and X-Men: Last Stand. A lot of those characters never got their stories told/closed in a good way. It was said in LOGAN that something in the food was poisoning mutants and disabling their powers (or some such to the best of my memory). Plus there have been other movies made in other franchises that told stories "in between" films (interquels I think is the term) and that would have been a fine way to go about it. But whatever, its Disney's Marvel now so we'll just have to see what they do with it in the upcoming years.

It is the original Wolverine. If you watch the trailer its obviously the Wolverine from Logan where all the X Men died by Charles so hes probably from between Logan and when X Men died right after that probably.

There are some actors who become synonymous with a character they play so people couldn't even imagine anyone else playing that role. Hugh Jackman playing Wolverine is a perfect example of that.
While there are some other Marvel characters for which this is also the case (Chris Hemsworth playing Thor, for example), none of them reaches the same level of being seen as the character (instead of just being an actor playing them) as Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.
So the idea of having someone else play Wolverine if you can have Jackman do it is absurd. Not only from a creative standpoint, but also an business one. Many people will simply not like someone else play Wolverine and thus not watch and/or recommend the movie. So the first movie having another actor play Wolverine will be very, very likely to be not particularly popular and make less money than the previous movies.
My early prediction is this movie has a massive opening week and then drops off a cliff.
That's what happens to movies that aren't really good. Unfortunately I think this will not be great. Maybe most people are done with the post modern meta narrative trope and the, also post modern, constant sarcastic quipping. It's almost as if people forgot post modernism peaked in the early 00's. MCU had at least some heart but now it's just a multiverse and quips. On a deeper level I think that why multiversal stories are so popular is because of that post modern sentiment that nothing matters, that hope is hopeless and only cynicism the is left
My fan theory is that Deadpool going on his killing spree "cleaning up the timeline" was actually "pruning" timelines rather than creating Nexus events.
So the faction of the TVA which went on a pruning rampage in "Loki" is deploying Deadpool as a weapon of mass destruction.

And then he loses hope, when they almost all of them die rescueing that Russel Collins in deadpool 2

He can get drunk but to do so requires insane amounts of alcohol to be consumed in a short amount of time and that won't even last long unless he keeps it up.

This MCU universe has been a wild ride. Yes there are some projects that didn't do as well and missed the mark. HOWEVER overall I feel like they have done an amazing job keeping the current storyline entertaining while also finding creative ways to connect old characters, shows, and movies that were produced by other companies. You have to give them credit for hanging in there and trying to listen to fans. Yes again there have been some let downs, but overall it has been great. Hell even the let down shows or movies I enjoyed at least watching once.
I just love when I finish catching up on one or more Charlie videos, just to find ANOTHER ONE ☝🏼 on my Home Page that was just published. 😌

It occurs to me that we ought not get too hung up on ‘who plays what character’, let alone get the characters we wish for. Many of these movies (the good ones, at least) are derived from stories in the original comics - and, the original comics have very strong storylines to begin with (not to mention that some of the stories are drawn from ‘myth & legend’ that have a strong foundation in established literature, eg. Norse mythology).
I read Marvel comics throughout the 70s and it’s only recently that I began to appreciate how much detail & ‘canon-worthy’ shit there is to draw from. ‘Wolverine & Deadpool’ may be a way to reinforce the elements that are ‘canon-worthy’ and dismiss all the tosh that was ‘written by committee’ simply to make a few bob!🤔😉✌️

Another reason I can imagine Feige tried to stop Jackman... bringing such a popular actor back to reprise the role is gonna make it that much harder for whoever they cast as the next Wolverine. But maybe they will be introducing the next Wolverine in this movie, and Jackman passing the torch.

ii love these throwbacks . n the future people may look back at the 90s as the last truly awesome decade not just the comics. . The best of everything. Movies with some CGI but mostly practical. FUN Video games but you had to play with friends on the same tv. video game arcades were way better than home games for the last time so you went to a mal socialized had fun with friends. could watch movies at home but had to go and get them from a rental store, again requiring you to socialize. Could get ahold of people anytime with pagers but you had to have a real conversation . Just was the absolute peak decade that technology truly improving our lives after that it started to cost us as a society

Kevin Fiege says he didn’t want Hugh to comeback so it didn’t ruin the perfect ending the character got in Logan is sort of hypocritical considering how hard he fought for Sir Patrick Stewart to be in Multiverse of Madness but I’m glad both actors choose to come back as in my opinion it doesn’t ruin Logan for me as they came back as Variants of the original characters.
I think it was reported elsewhere that Ryan Reynolds wasn’t the one who got Hugh Jackman back, & that he didn’t pester him like ppl think, same with Shawn Levy, it, if I remember correctly was Hugh deciding he wanted to join the MCU, while not undoing or messing with the events of Logan, so that’s why Hugh is back as Wolverine, plus he wants to work with Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man, & Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man in a MCU film, hence Secret Wars will most definitely include Hugh, RDJ, & Tobey, plus Deadpool.

Since there will be Wolverine variants played by other actors in the movie…..that could help them gauge fan response for a possible replacement for Jackman down the road. It’s gotta happen at some point unfortunately.
If one of the actors ends up being very well received in that role it would be smart of them to cast that person again. 🤷🏻♂️

I think the real reason is that Kevin Feige has proven to have very poor judgment overall, and resisting something as obvious as Hugh Jackman as Wolverine is perfectly consistent with his bizarre decision making paradigms.
That and he doesn't like anyone else upstaging him. He'll do his damnedest to stand in the way of someone else's idea only to then say "I turned down all of their bad ideas and I was responsible for picking the GOOD pitch."
That way it still looks like it was his idea.
I’d love to see them canonize the Avengers Assemble cartoon.
