    A dead man’s hand,
    A dead man’s fate,
    Everybody fears,
    The aces and eights

Just restarted the Deadwood TV series so this couldn't have come at a better time!

Love the Deadwood TV series, I've watched it through twice, but wouldn't mind doing it again

Focusing a few lines or a page away from dead mans hand, I notice two different descriptions regarding the pistol Mc Call used to assasinate Hickok. One states....'Colt's .45' (indicating an 1873 Colt single action army revolver) and how it misfired 5 times as he retreated from the saloon. I find this difficult to believe of what would then be a new or newish revolver using centre fire metallic cartridges. Another more plausable line reads....'A large Navy revolver' ..... indicating .36 1851 or 1861 Colt Navy percussion. It's a well known fact that Colt's percussion revolvers are notorious for 'cap jams' where a fragment of percussion cap lodges between the frame and hammer or the cylinder and frame preventing the next shot firing.
Another long running controversy is about the revolver Hickok used to kill Davis Tutt. Some say a .36 Colt Navy, others say it had to be a .44 Colt Dragoon because the .36 Navy isn't powerful enough to pass a bullet or ball through a man's chest at 75 - 80 yards.
Subjects to consider for another video ? ;-)

Yea! Maybe down the road I could do a series like "the guns of Wild Bill" and then go through the different ones he was described as having carried. I just have a lot of ideas and am short on time-people comment with great ideas and hopefully I'll be able to do some of them in the future.

Researching this, it is often stated a .44 caliber revolver was used to kill Bill.

Definitely interesting. ... I have always thought that Aces and Eights were more poetic than other versions, I know of three songs that use the expression, although 2 of those songs use the Eights before the Aces. .ie Bog Seger's Fire Lake.

The cards he was holding have a high probability of being covered in Bill's Brain and blood. In the ensuing chaos, who knows whose cards were whose.

I have always thought it was Aces full Eights!
Which is damn good hand I have won with many times.

There were several articles published in newspapers in the 1950s talking about the Chisholm Trail Dead Man's Hand. Are you on Facebook? Probably be the easiest way I can send you those articles. If not I can list the newspapers and the titles of the articles.

I made a video of Motorhead -- "Ace of Spades" song -- this is the story of "The Dead Man's Hand", and 'Wild Bill Hickok'. Maybe alot of the correct information of the Dead Man's Hand has been White-washed and changed and twisted around.
