    Leslie Neilson is without a doubt a comedy legend. The Naked Gun trilogy is just as hilarious as it was when it first came out. Rip Leslie. You were great.

      He also was a top notch dramatic actor.He was a frequent guest on dramatic TV shows before Airplane.He played the ship's captain in The Poseidon Adventure.He was the lead in the science fiction classic Forbidden Planet with Walter Pidgeon,Anne Francis,& a young Earl Holliman.

    A notable omission to this list is John Wooden. Arguably the greatest college basketball coach of all time. He won 10 national titles including 7 in a row.

    No mention of Johnny Maestro (Mar 24,2010) one of the best voices of the 50s and 60s pop music scene. Performed with "The Crests" and "Brooklyn Bridge". Famous for "The Worst That Could Happen", "16 Candles" "Welcome Me Love" among very many other hits of that era. A true vocal legend, missed by many.

    Peter Fernandez died in 2010. Voice Actor and Director of voice dubbing for a number of Animes.
    Most notably, "Speed Racer" where he voiced Speed, Racer X and other characters. Also did voices in Gigantor, Marine Boy and the live action Ultraman. His last role was that of a TV announcer in the live action Speed Racer in 2009.

    You also missed longtime baseball play-by-play broadcaster Ernie Harwell, died May 4, 2010 at the age of 92......he did the TV broadcast of Bobby Thomson's 1951 "Shot Heard Round The World" for the New York Giants, then went to Baltimore from 1954 to 1959, and finally to my Detroit Tigers for the majority of the next 42 years from 1960 to 2002 with a brief interruption in 1992......

    Gloria Winters and Donna Douglas of the Beverly Hillbillies (who died in 2015) had many similar qualities. They were both pretty, perky as well as very good actresses. As well, Gloria and Donna both portrayed characters who were quite sweet and innocent, for the most part.

    I remember when Rue McLanahan died, I said to my mother, "She was your age. I'm getting concerned." My mother said she wasn't planning to be Rue McClanahan, she was going for Betty White. She lived only 3 more years, though...23 years short of Betty White's age.

    I've noticed that peopled died much younger in the 1970s. You almost never see anyone reach beyond 80. It's like everyone stopped smoking or something.

    James MacArthur was just one month short of turning 73 years old when he died. He played Danny Williams in the tv show "Hawaii Five-O." He died from cancer.

    as a yankees hater i never liked george steinbrenner because of the way he bought championships but i later came to respect his philanthropy and his patriotism he could've signed carlos delgado who came out publicly and voiced his hatred of america and steinbrenner didn't sign him. he obviously took love of country over winning. not to mention in 2001 a highschool marching band in tampa was supposed to travel somewhere to perform but couldn't come up with the money so george flit the bill for it. a great man rip george the game of baseball misses you and so do the yankees.

    An another one that died in this year (2010) was US Senator Robert C. Byrd. He was the longest serving member in the United States Congress and he was also a musician. He served in the Senate til the day he died.

    Some may remember him as a host of wholesome television.
    I remember him for, after his daughter's suicide, stating it was under the influence of LSD. He implicitly blamed Timothy Leary.
    After his death the media informed us, oh by the way, that LSD connection to Miss Linkletter, NOT TRUE. We only circulated the story...Out of kindness, I suppose.
