I agree that it’s sad, but I think that it only works when it is an electric train like X40 because then the train just passes by the crossing for the yard instead of coming to a stop like 5 meters away from the crossing.
I just realised that the train staff need to press a buton (next to the crossing) to activate it. So it works but they just don’t activate it (manually).
Sad it was broken because I wanted to film this path crossing when I come to Linköping someday
