    I like Stearns playing hard ball with both of them. Its not just about win right now. Its about a sustainable path to consistently being in contention. We should not panic and get stuck in a contract we will regret for years. We have other superstars to sign.

    There isn’t a financial reason that Alonso & Bregman can’t both be signed & Vlad Jr isn’t brought in via trade or signed as a FA after the season. If Bregman isn’t signed, Vientos can either go back to being the everyday 3B or DH. Baty & possibly Mauricio can be included in a package if Stearns makes a deal for Vlad Jr or a SP such as Castillo, King or Valdez. I’d also like to see them bring back solid veteran depth pieces like Winker & Iglesias.

    In 608 at bats, he hit .240 and had 88 RBI. 34 HRs. That means he had 54 RBIs in 574 ABs. I understand the HRs, but the idea of the game is to put the ball in play. Not just hit HRs. I’d look for guys that get RBIs on something other than the long ball.

  • @ARIGROSSMAN
    @ARIGROSSMAN หลายเดือนก่อน

    I hope Pete comes back but in a business perspective I'd go with Alex. Bregman is a better fielder than Vientos. That's why I'd put Vientos as DH. Pete struck out 120 more times than Bregman. Bregman's average is 20 points higher. Pete failed to truly understand critical situations of the game, routinely striking out trying to pull the ball with outside sliders. He hit 10 hr more than bregman but as an overall player I give the nudge to alex.. Yes, pete hit that hr to the opposite field in the playoffs but it was on a 3-1 count,, NOT 0-2, 1-2.. Pete is very strong and that's what gives him his HR power. He is an average 1st baseman if that. What he should have done was taken the 3 year deal at 75 million guarrenteed,, during this year learn to hit to the opposite field on 2 strikes because the scouting on him is make him try to pull the ball by slidering him outside. If he gets improved with average and less K's I'm sure there would be a better opportunity.. But to be a bitch like this favors ownership. They can always get an average 1st baseman.. That's part of business.. Personally I'd like to see him return with a humble learning attitude..

      @Pcbdude82 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Genius. You realize it's much easier to hit in Houston vs Citi right? Also fun fact. AL west has the worst pitching in baseball. When 3 of the 7 worst teams come from one division. That's pretty bad.
      Bregman vs Seattle (2nd best pitching staff in ERA.) .250 11 hits, 3 HR 6 RBI in 13 games
      Pete vs Braves (#1 pitching era) 13 hits for .277 2 HR and 8 RBIs in 13 games.

    Batty and Mauricio is better if that means they will sign ace starters like burns, and grow a pair and sign Trevor Bauer. Someone is going to eventually, why not us? I want Alonso back but I want to win more and ace pitchers will get them closer than Alonso. Cohen said this wouldn’t be an issue but lied obviously. The Yankees did better without Soto by getting pitching and the Mets should have passed on him too if it meant this is our rotation as it exists. Severino would have been better than Montas even

    • @95Comics
      @95Comics หลายเดือนก่อน

      @ my point was that they’re going backwards I don’t think Severino will be worse than Montas. Nobody has an actual reason why they won’t sign Trevor Bauer and he’s willing to sign for league minimum so I’ll never understand why no team is signing him and if this is the rotation that we are going to be stuck with then it’s time for the Mets to be the team That grows a pair and signs him. And I mean that if they are not even gonna try to sign Burnes and whoever the next best starting pitcher is. Not to mention they need bullpen help, and if money is all the sudden tight, then they should never have signed Soto. I would much rather have Alonso and the best pitching staff money could buy. At this point I would like to see them bring in Max scherzer and Justin Verlander lol. I wonder if they could be convinced to pitch out of the bullpen or the two of them combine to be the number 5 starter keeping their innings down I’m just trying to come up with some way to make this team Have a better pitching staff now that evidently we can’t afford to buy a pitching staff that is anywhere near as talented as the rotation for other teams. They are in competition with. I was always taught that pitching was the most important part. Historically, the mets have always had amazing pitching staffs. That is until stearns came along.

Why aren't ANY other teams lining up to sign Pete? 1) everyone has seen his production decline over the last TWO seasons and 2) The word around the league, from other players, is that he can be a problem in the clubhouse. It doesn't matter if it's true or not, but that's the belief. Stearns can and will wait until the price comes way down from the stupid numbers Boras is asking or move on. That's exactly the right thing to do.

    Pete alonso is not a stud... Whoever wants Alonso likes losing... We can't pay Alonso for one home run against the brewers... What else did he do all year? ... Strike out in clutch situations?

    Literally 30 useless homeruns last season. His numbers have gone down every season!! They will continue do go down. SIGNING A WALKING STRIKE OUT DOESN'T HELP SOTO!! SWINGING AT GARBAGE WITH 2 STRIKES DOESN'T HELP SOTO!! STOP!!!

      I swear to God some of you don't even watch. His numbers were slightly down from his averages.
      His career average is .249. He hit .240. HR Ave 38. He hit 34. RBI average 98. He had 88. His walks were up. Averages 60. Had 70. OPS .844 average. Last year .788
      Not saying you are partly right. But people act as if he is in a massive decline. Some numbers are. Some aren't. That's sports.

    People need to stop with this Bregman talk. The dude has a great glove. But is average at the plate. His career batting is .270. And he averages about 20 HR a year. That's in Houston. Which is a bit more friendly than Citi and those numbers include the years he cheat. (Which is also the only years he hit over 100 RBI.
    In New York. You're looking at a .250 hitter ( if it's a good year) with about 70 RBI and 15 HR. And he is going to require probably a 4 to 6 year deal. No thanks. Give Pete whatever he wants. This idiot front office backed themselves into a corner and all good plan B options fall off the table..
    People want to bitch about the year Pete had. .260 with 34 HR and 88 RBIs. I promise you Bregman won't come close to those numbers. Hell just compare last years stats. He's a big downgrade. And AL west pitching was by far the worst last year. Angeks, A's and Rangers all finished bottom 7 in ERA

      about that HR he hit against Devin Williams... so clutch. Can't take that away from him. If he doesn't sign for the right prices, then we have to look at other options.
