That deadlift loading lever is nice. I often get frustrated loading plates at the gym while the bar is on the ground. You have to either row it a few inches and awkwardly shimmy on the plates, or pick up the bar and set it on the safety bars in a squat rack.
It's just a wider pad so you can refer a better base to push off of. A combo rack is a pretty decent option but they're pretty expensive, if you're on a budget something like a squat stand will take up the same amount of space and most will have a pull-up bar and safety spotters, the good ones will anyway
