    Lovely.
    The triplets remind me of when my aunt used to feed her turkeys out of her hand but there was always at least one turkey who took three quick bites while the others just took one.Triplets are a bit like that😂

    Brilliant stuff, don’t know why people think the only box that Irish music can be played properly on is a BC box that DG sounds brilliant.

      Don't forget the C#/D box. BC is not the only system in Ireland. ;)

    Hi, Paul! You're a great player. We at Zeke & The Kiddos in the US are looking for somebody to record the accordion parts for an original Irish song in our production. The arrangement is already written. Dare you become a session musician? Let us know! Thanks so much in advance.

    I love the videos Paul, but I'd especially love to see you show us how to get those triplets. I really have tried, and I just about manage to fake them with a combination of jerky bellows movements and double tapping the button. But how on earth do you do it with two fingers so accurately?

    • @beshkodiak
      @beshkodiak 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You have got to rely on developing muscle memory. So start the triplet real slow until you can do it without thinking, then build your speed on that good foundation.

    Waoow! Sarah hadn’t uploaded new stuffs in 2 months.
    Glad you have Paul 😎
    My favourite version so far would be from Johnny Connolly, but yours can come in my top 5-7 :)
    Seen John O’Horan doing a strange version with Emma O’Sullivan brush sean-nós dancing on it too.
    Cheers Paul!
    Hope there is not too much flooding in Northern England.

    Hey I was curious on how you chose to implement roles? I’ve never actually done them myself and was wondering if you have tips for where to put them

    • @paulyoungfolk
      @paulyoungfolk  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      As a very basic rule, you can use them to replace any dotted crotchet (dotted quarter note); or any group of three quavers (eighth notes) that starts on the beat and starts and ends with the same note.

    Hey Paul
    I’m from Newfoundland and taught myself to play when I was 14 (now 30). I learned by ear and have never been taught anything and find my playing has sort of hit a plateau. I also do not know how all of the base buttons work, I tend to use only the outside row as none of the inside row seems to sound well with any of the treble keys LOL. Do you have any advice for how I can improve my playing and understand the instrument better?

  • @justaman2891
    @justaman2891 ปีที่แล้ว

    I must have watched each of your videos a hundred times, I love them. May I ask why you play a lot of your tunes on a D/G and not B/C which is more common for trad music?

    • @paulyoungfolk
      @paulyoungfolk  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Just made a video about that stuff here: th-cam.com/video/aBgYfjSO0w0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=riKFqj1z2l3EgsSf

    • @paulyoungfolk
      @paulyoungfolk  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      But the short answer is because I got into English music first, and DG is more versatile for stuff other than Irish.

      @@paulyoungfolk Hi Paul.Precisely. I bought a Serenellini accordion in DG last year. And I watched a lot your videos > Now my accordion is a Selli and I think yours in a Lady. If they are both in DG what is the difference? When I listen to the bass on your video above, I find they don't sound like mine. Am I wrong or is there something I have not understood? Thank you in case you find time to enlight me. Great playing anyway

    • @paulyoungfolk

      @@Frakfayt The treble end of the Selli is two voice, MM (both middle reeds), but the Lady is three voice MML (adding a low reed).

      It’s just a percussive element of accordions/melodeons. Similar to the percussive nature of acoustic guitars when strumming. Kinda hard to get around unless you dampen the material of the keyboard under the key arms.
