@trksraja When I was younger, being called a "fob" felt like the worst insult. As an immigrant, all I wanted was to fit in, to blend into a world where everyone seemed to be striving to be like the "white man." I saw it in so many others like me-Indians who pretended not to know their own language, who distanced themselves from their roots just to avoid standing out. I did the same. I tried so hard to blend in, to erase parts of myself, but the price I paid was steep. I lost myself, spiraling into depression, caught between two worlds-neither fully embracing my heritage nor fitting into the one I was trying to conform to. But now, things have changed. If someone calls me a "fob" today, I wear it like a badge of honor. I’ve learned to embrace my roots, to celebrate them. And as I’ve grown to love and accept who I truly am, I've noticed something incredible: others have begun to respect me more too, not because I was trying to please them, but because I stopped trying to hide.

Dear Dhee, Amidst all the negative comments unfortunately coming your way from those whose taste in music has been damaged beyond repair, I hope this one brings a little bit of a smile on your face. I am an ardent admirer of yours as an artist, and have been for a whie - you are the first I have seen in years who is as much a deep storyteller as she is a musician / artist par excellence. Enjoy Enjaami was the first of yours I heard, and for the first time I felt here was a song that actually DESERVED to go viral - what with how rich it was in every department. And now there's this one. I'm fortunate to have grown up in the motherland, but I did move cities a bit; so for what it's worth, I do understand the struggles of coming to terms with your identity , which would be amplified a thousand times more for those actually living away from the motherland. The messaging is brilliant, your singing is great (your classical training shines through even in English - the phrasing could not have been easy), and the music is next level amazing (the crescendos coming in from the low end around "I can't leave here, I stay put", "Khaaki ain't my color", and the final "the past is written on my body, my future is all in my mind" is just *chef's kiss*). You and Santhosh sir are an amazing father-daughter duo and a match made in heaven. Please continue to gift us more of such music, even if the naysayers do not appreciate it at the moment. Your songs are built for longevity and to incite / stir up something deep inside of a listener when they're ready to receive their magic. Will remain forever an admirer!
@@User-j2n5z I think it can be interpreted in either of two ways. One, that Khaki as a colour in uniforms was actually not ours historically - it is a bequest of the British, and has been worn more by them, the Nazi Germany forces, et al historically; yet has come to be associated with us (because khaki = earth / dirt = obviously India, or some such bs logic). So it's a call to correct a popular cultural misrepresentation. The other interpretation could be that India was never the kind of land / culture to have to engage in heavy policing / military warfare (hence the following line in the song: "Camo ain't a style", where camo = camouflage patterned army uniforms). Ours has forever been a tolerant nation, so the fact that there's heavy police presence and military activity is not something that we should be proud of. These are the two ways I could perceive it - any alternate interpretations welcome.

This is awesome! Getting the Camilo Cabello vibes here, but very unique and seeing it with a fresh set of lens..
It's like a mix of Sia and Camilla with Tamil folk music
Underlying deeper meaning to the writing👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼Wow...This seems like it can be an anthem to many... And of course wherever the meaning applies across the world.. And Dhee, if you are going to take this route often, your music is gonna be so meaningful.. The initial orchestration... Vera level.... On loop......👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Thank you for this absolute gem, set in precious "medal" ❤

I still can't believe that this song is both intense and subtle at the same time..such a deep and healing song for all the victims still bearing the blame. Heartfelt thanks for making this song to the entire crew♥️♥️♥️
Love from kerala. Underrated af
Idk why this song is getting the unwanted hates …this song is actually a masterpiece tho 🥹❤️! Much way more unique than any other songs and definitely needs to be appreciated by everyone 🤌🏾❤️!
Is that an Australian accent. Australian accent and Tamil ethnicity together takes this song to a whole another level.
Noooooooooo this not Australian slang . This is her srelankan accent
Could be she mixes too much with her Nigerian friends and picked up the Nigerian accent subconsciously, lol.
What a unique voice! You sound like Billie Holiday singing Trinidad songs... love this song.
Jackfruit and puttu for breakfast, cycling to tuition classes, and dodging bullets during the war... these are the memories of my '80s in Jaffna. Dhee, you are truly remarkable-a gift to us all

Jaffna la irundhu paakkiravanga like poodunga
Dear Dhee,
Amidst all the negative comments unfortunately coming your way from those whose taste in music has been damaged beyond repair, I hope this one brings a little bit of a smile on your face.
Can u explain the "khaki aint my colour" does it have something to do with Police
Dhee...❤ so this is genuinely good. Dhee is srilankan tamil... this lyrics hold so much power, emotion and strong connection.. its clearly represents the life in eezham specially jaffna and the genocide that is faced by tamil.❤️🔥🥰 kudos to the team...👏❤ this whole music video was filmed in jaffna .. you can see it in the streets, jaffna library an d Fort.. 😍 even she added tamil captions for the lyrics 🤌🥹❤ As a srilankan tamil.. i am so proud of this and grateful...feel a strong connection to this.... hope this will get recognition as enjoy enjammi.. ❤ BTW I am sriankan tamil from vavuniya Sri Lanka 🥰

I cried seeing and hearing this Song! It is always a great attribute to Wear your roots like a medal! About this music, the video, DHEE and the Dancers! It's mind blowing and truly Aesthetic! What a concept and the LYRICS are outstanding and they have a deeper Inner Meaning and if you are in shackles and what Redl Freedom feels like after shedding all the unwanted baggages in ur life and one more line which talks about Generational Trauma and the pain of the past in her body but her soul is healed and free! OMG could u find a better way of describing Trauma and Freedom! Who csn forget Jaffna and the Trauma of Srilankan Tamils! Way to Go Dhee! You deserve a greater elevation in the Music Industry! Best Wishes!
Hi maa from tamilnadu tamils🙋♂️😊

யாழ்ப்பாணத் தெருக்கள்😊😊
The Algorithm never disappoints, This is lit🔥
👇🏼👇🏼These lines have opened doors for a new adaptation to my life. Thanks Dhee, especially for writing these lines 👇🏼👇🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I met a girl named Karma
she said “traveller, skip the line”,
led the way to baggage drop
then, I flew leaving no footprints behind
for the first time
I tasted freedom
abandoned them baggages
never went to claim em’
My past is written on my body
My future is all in my mind
'BAGGAGE DROP' - this has become a philosophical phrase for life🙏🏼🙏🏼Thanks again...
Thank you for this song 🥹. Can’t wait to share this with my son. Gotta wear your roots like a medal 🎉

I decided to promote this song... cause it's reflects exactly each one of our lives, some did not make it alive, some of us did, but walking dead...piggy pony tails went to school in our bicycles...ducked from kfir and shelling ....lots luggage we still carry ...😢😢
"My past is written on my body, My future is all in my mind "-Aug-24 3:03
Great work- its very important everyone shouldnt forget their roots- this song rings in ears with our authentic sound
Thank you for this phenomenal and profound musical medicine! These spicy lyrics dig deep into reservoirs, treasures, and abundance found within and across our cultures and generations!
i dont why i am so much addicted to this song....!!!!
Very proud of you @Dhee as a SriLankan you still remember your Roots, I am a Sinhalese, it does not matter if we are Tamil or Sinhalese we are all one mother Children called Srilankans, due to politicians in the south and north and their intentions lead to 30 years disastrous war in the country we will never forget how people of our country suffered, people in this know how people in the north suffered and the children suffered, its time to change the hate and anger towards each other to stop as a new generation past is gone, future is ahead and the future should be bright for the people of this small island. remember it does not matter your race or religion we are Sri Lankans.
in short… it does’t matter your race or religion.. but your nationality does matter 😅😂😂
Honeyyyyyy
@@g1patil let's just keep it at this "it does not matter if we are Tamil or Sinhalese" because currently there is no hate between Sinhalese and Tamils. The children born today, would only ask why such things happened. Because they simply cannot identify a difference other than the language we speak.
