Thank you for making this informative and entertaining video. The trick with the test button on the flash was for me a wonderful technique that I am now using. 👍

This must be one of the best tutorials I have found !
I forage a lot and I am also a photographer . I love the style of the shots and want to start taking my own.
The explanations of timings / d.o.f are very helpful.. Thanks ..

That is a fantastic feature on the canon app (focus stepping) - I wish other manufacturers would include this in their remote applications.

Fantastic video, Stewart. One of my favourites on the channel. I remember watching this video last year but I didn't have the gear needed to try this technique out. This year, I do. And I know what I'll be doing this weekend if weather permits.

    Beautiful step by step tutorial!
I use the beautiful backgrounds i bought from your site on my macro shots, now it’s time to go out to a forest and try your method, maestro. Thank you

@@StewartWoodArt dear Stewart, I use the SONY e-mount system (both APSC and FF) and unlike the CANON or NIKON system, none of my cameras (to the best of my knowledge none in the Sony system) feature the built-in FOCUS BRACKETING setting...Aron Anderson showed a focus bracketing tutorial for SONY users, w/Imaging Edge Desktop remote + B8Stack freeware App, but it entails carrying a Mac laptop to the field. any ideas?

    • @StewartWoodArt
      @StewartWoodArt  2 ปีที่แล้ว

You'll have to use the first method I showed, the old way of manual focus bracketing.

Inspired me to go have a go, had a few hours to kill waiting for the wife and found a nice little woodland near by, quite happy with manually adjusting focus - have a manual macro lens so cant use the bracketing feature. The stack worked well and liking the result, I didnt focus in the right spot when creating the glow so it wont paint in nicely - next weeks project!

Gorgeous! I love fungi. Magical stuff! I have mobility issues so getting on my knees in the woods isn’t an option. However - I’m going to see if I can get some exotic mushrooms from the shop and try this technique indoors. Worth a try eh

Very informative video Stewart, and when my R7 arrives I will be using the Canon app to focus stack, what a bloody good feature that is !
I also own the 100 mm f2.8L IS USM lens and it is very sharp, plus I also use it as portrait lens !

In Australia we have ghosties. Biluminecent mushrooms. Always a good night when you find a cluster of them.

Stewart, why did you focus on the front of the mushie, not the centre, for the torch shot?>

Great tutorial on Macro photography thank you. I was on the verge of ordering the Laowa macro lens until you said your focus ring was defective. Such a shame, it looked like a great lens. Now subscribed, thanks again.

My mind is blown. This was such an amazing video! I also had NO idea about the camera app. I have tremors so focus stacking has always been a challenge, this app helps! So much good information packed into the video. Thank you!! Love the bloopers too. LOL

Hi Stewart, really good stuff. I already had the focus stacking, but the other things were really useful. Ps, I've un-subbed on this Channel (CMD), but don't worry I've subscribed over on my Photography channel ChromagraphPhotoArt. It's just that I'm trying to keep the things I need to access in each channel separate, ie photography and motorcycle stuff.

OMG!!!! My canon 90D has built in Focus Bracketing, but it only works with Canon Macro lenses, the feature doesn't work with my Sigma Macro, so I have been manually making focus stacks , and here the Canon Camera connect app had this feature ALL ALONG, which works with any lens! DOHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!😖
