- Twelve NY farmers talk about evaluating soil, climate, infrastructure and other facilities to make sure you're ready for production. From the Voices of Experience video series produced by the NY Beginning Farmer Project at the Cornell Small Farms Program, www.nybeginningfarmers.org
Hello there i thank u for this video because i'll take all the help i can get.
i have a 92 acres of land and i would like to know how to start my own farm if there is more info on this topic please let me know i'm on Gilboa, ny
i just want to start doing something with this land..
Is your land fenced? Are there barns on it? Are there water sources available on the property? If it is fenced has it been cross fenced for animals or are there open fields for planting. You should look at the property as a farm and decide what the land would be best suited to. Some parts of the farm may be suited to vegetable growing while other parts may only be good for grazing goats on.
You should check with your county agent for resources and information about farming. Soil testing on the land that you would want to plant crops of any type on is vital.
