Matthew. Thankyou so much for these videos on the fusee. There are a lot of points that have been very helpful. It is a big decision weather are not to change the. Mainspring. And when it is best to change them.. Not sure if I have maybe missed information on that subject thanks again
HI Jon. Thanks for the feedback. The simple answer is dont change the spring unless you think it has already been changed and the one fitted is too strong. Always try the clock with old springs first. The rule of thumb of "set" springs is totally misleading and leads to masses of damage with over-driven clocks. Matthew
@@orchardwatchandclockrepair8346 If the clock does not run for the full duration, swapping out the spring may be an option. Another option is to wind the clock more frequently. I have a few clients who are happy to do that and retain the old spring. M
