  • In this video, we will go over how to update your computer's BIOS while on Linux. This method works for Dell (since what I have is a Dell laptop) and I haven't tried it on any other brands. I'm sure it is the same principle, but a different process. I hope that everyone benefits from this video.

    You are a savior. I think you should make some more tutorials on linux, especially the debian side meaning ubuntu and stuff. You are so good at explaining stuff.
    For example I want to know some apps you use, how you enavled wifi, sound problems solutions etc

    Asus provided me with a "linux option" to update my BIOS, it's just the new file in binary format.
    It didn't boot from the drive, I had to go into the settings in the BIOS (asus EZ flash utility) and look for the new file there.
    Anyway, thanks for the video!!

    Dell 760... insert fat32 usb stick with bios .exe file, set boot up to boot from usb device... computer responds “no bootable partition found”. Is there a missing step in your video about rendering the usb “bootable”?

    • @MyReviews_karkan
      @MyReviews_karkan  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Watch the video one more time. I never set the device to boot from a USB device. I simply went into BIOS via F12 then chose "BIOS Flash Update". Of course it's going to tell you "no bootable partition", an .exe file isn't an ISO.

      @@MyReviews_karkan When you've seen one bios menu you've seen one bios menu. My system (older Dell) doesn't offer the "BIOS Flash Update" option... but what did work was the machine was a dual boot with WinXP; since Linux Mint now ships with the Boot Repair Option switching between Linux and WinXP is really simple so that when Windows breaks the bootup GRUB, as it always seem to, booting into Live Linux and repairing the boot option and presto! All fixed in 5 minutes or less :-)

    • @MyReviews_karkan
      @MyReviews_karkan  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It should be the same principle, but the bios on your laptop should look and function different from Dell. But the downloading of the bios update and putting it on the flash drive should be the same. You'll need to look for a "bios update" or something similar in your bios while the flash drive is plugged to start the update.
