Andrew is one of the most genuine dudes I've met. I'm proud of how far he's come and the impact he's been able to use his testimony to help others. Eidola is an amazing band.
Love you Andrew you are a true talent. Have a buddy that almost gave up his music career due to the same health issues and just like him I can see you can use it to heal. Music helps heal all!
Andrew and I have met countless times at shows he's truly an amazing human being and I'm glad he's still here to grace the world with his amazing personality and massive talent!!!
Andrew, if you ever read this: your music, your words, and your art has brought so many people comfort and solace in their darkest times. You’re a genuine hero that I look up to. Thank you for being you and thank you for putting your story out there like this. ❤
Man I hope I get to meet this guy one day, I have been in his boat many times and struggle with mental health a lot, DGDs music has helped me out so so much. Exercise has helped me out immensely as well, healed me inside out. All the best Andrew!
From NateTriesAgain: Yeah it's so relatable, and he breaks down suicidal thoughts to something that feels tangible - the feeling of being stuck, of losing hope. Being able to put words to things that are beneath what we feel is so helpful because when we can UNDERSTAND the pain, it helps us not feel confused or crazy or alone, but it also helps us find pathways to solutions. Which, can restore our hope in and of itself. Thankful we have moments like this to re-orient us to that hope, that truth.
Met him in 2018 and felt like I was shaking hands with someone I wanted to be. It's always so humbling to find out people you admire struggle just like you do. Only serves to bolster the respect I already had for this dude.
Related to everything he said. I'm so grateful Andrew has been so open in interviews and songwriting about his struggles. One of the most genuine souls in post-hardcore music today.
Thank god for Andrew, and the music he's been apart of. Without Dance Gavin Dance, and specifically some of the lyrics Andrew sings, I'd be in a much worse place. Familiar and relatable words being sang with heart and passion behind it, sometimes that's all it takes to help someone, and this time, that's all it took to help me.
Thank you for sharing this, Andrew. I know this message will save lives- that human connection to someone experiencing something similar, especially someone we look up to artistically, can't be understated. These things aren't easy to discuss, but the more we talk about them the more we highlight just how *common* these feelings are, and the more we know about things the better equipped we are to make better choices Rock on, much love
I wish this had come out a month ago... I could've sent it to my brother before he passed. Glad to see someone so influential being open about their struggles.
From Lisalovesfeathers: Hi Friend, Im so sorry and send my condolences regarding your brother. We do our very best to support our loved ones in the hope that they feel truly loved whatever the circumstances and I have no doubt you did that. Maybe you can think of others you can send this to that could help them in memory of your brother. Best wishes to you and we are here at Heartsupport if you need any where to talk. Lisa. x
@heartsupport all of this resonates with me. I’ve struggled with all kinds of mental health issues but what he’s saying is true. Don’t give up. There are people that need. Life is worth living. Thanks for bringing this message to the people, Andrew.
From NateTriesAgain: Yes - totally true. And good reminders for us in the midst of our own struggles. /I/ am needed. /My/ life is worth living. /I/ should keep going. These are powerful reminders for me in the midst of my recovery from addiction, especially - hope is so easy to lose. Every relapse erodes resilience, so hope needs to be refreshed. Appreciate your note.
From panda_pop: Hey andrew, thanks for the kind words. It is nice to know you can resonate with someof the aims of HeartSupport. im sorry that you have had struggles of your own and i hope you are doing better. panda ps: you are absolutely right, life is so worth living
From Micro: Thank you Andrew for sharing as well. Just the very fact that you expresses how much this resonates with you can make a huge difference in the life of someone reading it, who may be feeling alone in their own struggles. It's part of all these little steps and conversations that are so very impactful and necessary. I wish you didn't relate somehow, but also personally very thankful as you share your voice. Life is indeed worth living, even during the times when it's hard to see it, when it's hard to remember why it is. There are many times in my life when I couldn't embrace the truth you have shared, and even right now being reminded of it was needed. Let's get through this crazy thing called life all together. It is worth it. We are worth it.
