Did Scotland not vote against independence last time they had the chance to finally be independent? And, thus, disappoint everyone?
How likely is she to ever get such a chance again, anyway?

As a person that spends a great deal of time in Scotland and buried my mum there (I am an American), I think the idea of Scottish independence is madness. Just look across this Irish Sea and tell me how well that has worked out! What should really be taking place in the British Isles an unification instead of fracturing! Why not work on Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales to become one big nation, one big powerhouse! Frankly speaking if the British Isles unifie it would out pace the EU by leaps and bounds. The other silly notions is... Scotland to become independent and then turn right around and turn your country right over to the EU, madness! That is NOT independence, that is just trading or swapping out one "overlord" for another. Instead of dividing up the Islands, focus on bringing the Islands together! As an American we (I) fully understand independence as it's in our blood, it's in our culture, it's in our way of life. However, it was a heavy price to pay and when we became independent from Britain we did not become independent just to turn the newly minted nation over to another group of nations (or country), NO NO NO... we built our own nation with our own laws and our own money and or own culture! I say to celebrate your Scottish culture (I do and it's why I spend 3 months a year there), celebrate being part of the United Kingdom, celebrate being part of the British Isle and celebrate your own independence from the overlord known as The European Union! And lastly, try doing what Ireland does and celebrate the Goidelic language by posting it on ALL the signs and teaching it in the Scottish schools! After all, language and culture are tied at the hip, you can't have one without the other. In closing, push for togetherness on the British Isles and look at Ireland and Northern Ireland as an example of what not to do which is division and hate! Na bi nad neach-sgaraidh ach an aite sin bi nad neach-cuideachaidh airson aonachd.

That's the Irish. Totally different situation at all. Look at the Scandinavian countries and how better off they are independent and how well they work together now. Maybe the same could be said for your country. Mess of a place now, maybe you need back under British rule. You are culturally the same as us anyway.
