      He came off like a lazy slumlord. To your point (and his own) if majority of your tenants are complaining about this ONE tenant funking up the entire building why wouldn’t that tenant become your primary focus?? His presence was a nuisance to the building and instead of focusing on getting him out he is waxing poetical about wanting to “do business” with him. The only reason he eventually decided to evict him was because a potential tenant refused to move in because of the smell. He dgaf about the smell impacting other existing tenants despite repeated complaints but because he was starting to lose out on money he changed his tune. This man didn’t care about those other tenants. All he cared about was his bottom line: money. When I lived in apts with actual GOOD property managers they stayed on top of tenant complaints and always did their best to mitigate issues. Any strange smells reported were always thoroughly investigated if necessary, the super or maintenance was sent to check things out. This was blatant negligence.

I’m just saying most of these people maybe thought he was awkward or something but they probably weren’t thinking that he was actually murdering people in his apartment. After a while he made it pretty damn obvious lol but most of us DON’T want to assume that, cause it’s just something terrible to think about. I think that’s just part of the reason he got away with it for so long. This was also in the 80s/90s when people had a more mutual trust for each other compared to now.

    The landlord wanted a white face as the face of his business to further his business. Jeff who portrayed to be polite and who is very articulate was the only single white male living in the area and seemed to be the perfect candidate. Jeff as the pathological, and convincing liar he is deceived and manipulated the landlord as he did with the cops and his victims. Jeff was a master manipulator. Considering that he made so many mistakes that could and should have gotten him exposed and arrested but because he was a master manipulator he smoothly talked his way out.

    Part of the problem with accusing the people who dismissed or overlooked Dahmer's suspicious behavior is because good people don't think about others around them being "bad," and certainly not killing and storing the bodies their victims where they live. I mean, it's so easy to point fingers now that we know, but face it, it's beyond comprehension of the ordinarily straight-up, law-abiding person what Dahmer did. We are still trying to figure all out, years later, still shaking our heads, thinking WTF?? I love the question: "So you thought it would be appropriate to form a partnership with Jeffrey Dahmer?" I think another huge thing to consider is the times, serial killers weren’t such a wide known issue, mental health issues weren’t as “normal”, homosexuality wasn’t as accepted and viewed negatively, crime wasn’t as bad back then as it is today, on and on. A lot of people these days would be very concerned of any of the signs Dahmer exhibited, but it’s only BECAUSE of stories like Dahmer’s that we recognize these signs and question further even small things. Our knowledge of mental health issues, red flags, unhealthy obsessions etc, all have lead us to second guess and recognize concerning things and behaviors. All of this new knowledge is extremely helpful, the same reasons why we no longer allow our children to go out and about the same as parents used to, yes while crime is worse, it’s also more widely known about, and just like “normal people” are becoming smarter about their safety, criminals are becoming smarter about how to commit crimes. It’s all about the times

    • @squalli1297
      @squalli1297 2 ปีที่แล้ว +31

      The smell was evident, but the police bought Jeffery's story of rotten meat in the freezer although bodies were hidden in plain sight. I believe he tried to cook the flesh off the bones by using Muriatic acid, but the acid only cooks, and will not preserve the flesh. Formaldehyde does a better job at preserving. I'm not sure what the combination of Muriatic acid smells like on human flesh. The PD would need to get a search warrant to dig deeper in his apartment. At 1st glimpse, you couldn't think he was a serial killer. He stood out like a sore thumb by living in a predominantly Black neighborhood & appeared to be decent law abiding citizen but the darkness & smell came to light.

      I have seen a psychologist say that a normal, empathetic person will always look for other explanations, because our brains literally can’t process that level of evil. It’s unimaginable, you convince yourself there some other reason for the signs you’re seeing.

Also, the more and more Nigeria become urbanized we having crime that is not normal. During the 70s Nigeria was not urbanized so no this whole sh!t was very foreign to this man.

    Lol he actually thought about goin into business with dahmer? SMH this REALLY goes to show how Jeff had them
    ALL fooled. His depiction in the series was obviously exaggerated. He was by all accounts a likable and unassuming guy not some strange robotic figure making everybody feel uncomfortable

      There was another guy who commented that he worked in the same chocolate factory Dahmer was and Dahmer was known to be a strange guy at work and that most of the people who worked in the factory were older black men. And most of those black men considered him weird. Maybe he could turn it off and on but then again most people don't spend much time conversing with their landlord/apt manager for an extended period of time. Also people are generally more polite and respectful to people who can kick them out of their homes than to regular people or co-workers that they don't benefit anything from.

      It's annoying, because our of any serial killer, Dahmer would have been the one to play completely straight - but they had to exaggerate it.

    That woman in the white jacket is so confusing! Her questions are so loopy! She’s so agitating. I think this manager knew Jeff was lying about the source of the smells. But he didn’t want to be disruptive to the tenants as it would be too much paperwork to evict Jeff. I’m surprised Jeffrey didn’t harm him.

Most of these state appointed DA's that represent people like this fumble around, trying to find the slightest bit of hope in defending someone of this nature. IDT JD wanted to go thru with this but was talked into pleading guilty by insanity by his dad b/c his dad was hoping he'd at least be sent to a mental facility where he could undergo psychological help but JD said himself he was sane and knew he would keep doing it, if he just so happened to be set free, as his compulsions would never go away.
