I agree with some of what you say. The English have allowed themselves to be sidelined in their own home. I think in the past because we were so settled we became complacent and the establishment have used that and steam rollered through with their version of our history/culture.

I’ve actually moved up north Paul for exactly this reason, basically anything from Birmingham downwards is finished. In Cumbria the St George’s flag is all over the place, as it should be.

Well come on it is Brighton!!!! People didn't need to wave flags in the past , as they knew who they were. Now, parts of England have no resemblance to its root, and we've got generations who know nothing of their root and culture, just how the establishment want it, so they can realise their dream of a multi-cultural waste land. I'm in Australia and today is St. George's Day. I have four flagstaffs outside my house and today I flew the St. George cross flag along with the Australian National flag. Thursday 25th is ANZAC day here in Australia, an opportunity to show your thanks to fallen soldiers and to be patriotic without being accused of the R word (so far).

The UK has spent the last 30 years teaching English kids that any kind of English or British patriotism is bad bad bad, and that they should celebrate every minority culture over their own. Yet we still grumble that people in England are more likely to fly a Palestinian or Ukrainian flag than the flag of Saint George or the union flag.

England shares St George with Venice, Genoa, Portugal, Ethiopia, and Catalonia who celebrate 23rd April as a feast day. He was thought to have been born in Cappadocia (modern day Turkey) and thought to have died in Lydda (modern day Israel) Like many saints he was described as a martyr and executed for refusing to give up his Christian faith. The dragon is symbolic of the battle between good and evil.
I think most English don't bother celebrating because St George had/has nothing to do with England, unlike other countries saints. Although Patrick wasn't born in Ireland, he lived and died there. George did nothing for England, and is the saint of a few other countries.... We should choose a new [ENGLISH] saint, and make sure we celebrate that saint as much as people celebrate St Patricks day, or should we instead be raising the White Dragon flag of the Anglo-Saxon King St Edmund on November 20th? St Edmund was our ENGLISH patron saint once....

Yes - l agree with you Paul. I am Irish and I don't understand why England Scotland and Wales don't celebrate their national saints day in the same way as we do in Ireland and around the world. It would be great if they did - its almost as if a lot of English people are not proud enough of their country even to fly their flag. I think it's even more important now that all four home nations - ie England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales fly their national flags because of the on-going and increased threat of being over-run by illegals flying foreign flags and of course the rainbow brigade out in force with all their parading and prancing about.
