rg is actually for more realistic proportion (mostly), as the grade name suggests, the exaggerated proportions already goes to whatever the original design it was based on.
I like Mecha animes and really want to get Mecha figures. But after seeing all these Gunpla videos I might just start buying the build kits, they look so good!
The kids are actually so much better and all the mistakes that you make along the way make you part of the kit itself it's a mystical bond between man and plastic LOL
I once hated building kits, turns out that's because I went too far by starting with kit that requires glue and paint, it got me traumatized lol then I met a friend who introduced me to gunpla and eventually this channel. I restarted with straight build and slowly learning new skills and its really fun and satisfying.
@@neohybridkai Yeah I was in the same boat, I put off by kits because I had a lot of friends who were into stuff like Warhammer where you had to paint your own stuff, ect. Gunpla seem much more friendly and also leave alot of room for customization if you want.
The real grade is designed to look real while the damashii actually looks more anime accurate. Also the damashii isn't 55 bucks in most parts of the world while the real grade w/o the positron could cost as low as 35 bucks
Btw can someone tell me why tamashij nations toys are always expensive outside of japan? Some of the stuff are awesome but the price never seems to justify them while bandai model kits are normally priced. Please explain
I believe its a supply vs demand thing. There are a lot more collectors of figures than of models. As a result it would be more affordable to buy out a bunch of stock of a figure and resale it at a higher price (scalpers).
It should also be noted, that despite the RG Unit 00 having more pieces and detail, it is not being cut from trees, painted, and assembled into a finished product. While Robot Spirits figures may be smaller and have less parts, Bandai has to have a factory full of workers assembling them. That is more expensive than simply producing molds on trees and shipping them.
Well, all is about materials and shipping. I live in South America and I found the RG for almost the same price as the Robot Spirits figure. The RG for 59 USD and the RS for 66 USD.
Ended up getting the Damashii line for the more movie-accurate look. I'm glad these don't come with horrible nubmarks like my Damashii RX and Zaku ver a.n.i.m.e.! The RGs are niiice not too mechanical like the metal build so it doesn't lose that bionic look.
the real grade EVA units are amazing, but from experience parts of them are all VERY fragile(hip/waist), wanna just pose it with a stand and leave it alone, the RD is more solid since its an actual figure not model kit
I remember getting Robot Spirits Pacific Rim figures, and I just gotta say: These loosen up SO much. So much so they literally cannot stand on their own. I would probably buy the figure if I wasn’t into model kits, but after building the RG Eva Unit-01, I really want the Unit-00 DX Version and the RG Unit-03 to recreate that pretty iconic scene
@gensokyo boyz That actually happened, the assembly inside the waist got loose, so I just disassembled it (to an extent) and put it back together, and now it’s good again. I also know of the superglue trick, so that’ll be useful
Huh was expecting gundam animarize since u were so excited about it. The armour goes well with uraven. Replace all the armour except the fin and front skirt also stick the original shield behind.
One thing that I have found out about when comparing the figures and the model kits is the solidness. I will not get an Evangelion model kit again. They are just too fragile for me.
That was a great review video Mecha. I think I'll go with rg since i'm more of a model kit person. Also, will you be doing a review of the recently released Entry Grade granddaddy gundam? The price looks extremely tempting, seems way better than the revive granddaddy to be honest.
IMHO i like the new entry grade a little more than the revive version. The articulation is a little better and over all had better joints. But that was just my case. I would say the weapons were better on the evidence version
this is a pretty late comment but i just wanted to say that the real grade evas actually have insane crunches and back arches, you can pull up on the chest to extend the entire torso to get it to work properly.
Id say the figure is better for 2 reasons. 1, its an actual figure which means it wont break like the model kit. and 2, someone who has never build a model kit before can just get the robot spirits figure, it is more accurate aswell.
I personally like the RG because of the simple facts that she has a proportion that looks more accurate to what a human does, which is what the eva's were supposed to look like, and the fact that she just has way more nods to the lore that the builder quite literally builds into her. While an action figure can hold up better to a kid roughing it up a bit, I much prefer the satisfaction of my kid and/or me actually building a kit and getting a sense of respect for it now that I am older. Then again, I prefer Gunpla anyway. Gunpla is king.
I like the Robot Spirits more because it doesn't get super loose. the RG Evas look nice, but they get SLOPPY very quickly and within a few months can barely hold a pose
Both are insanely good and has their own advantages; I don't think one of them is better than the other and I'd be happy to have both. I love building kits but I do also love to pose action figures that feel more durable and dynamic.
I own both. And honestly robot Damashii has extreme posing capabilities while the RG evas are more technical marvels great with recreating scenes from the anime. While RD is for doing more action shots as it can handle higher playability
yknow, i was expecting a blowout by the rg, but honestly both figures 100% have merits. i actually changed my preference from rg to robot spirits, when i expected the opposite!
You should compare the Robot Damashi EVA-00 with the Kotobukiya 1/400 EVA-0h wait they haven't made a goddamn EVA-00 even if all they had to do was a recolor of EVA-02 with a different head. Anyway you should compare the Robot Damashi with Kotobukiya 1/400 EVA-01 and EVA-02 because the design looks pretty much the same and it would be interesting to see how similar or different they look.
Robot damashii are all over the place quality wise. I don't know how many times out of the package the rd is floppy. They're also all over the place scale wise
If you’re already editing clips together for a side by side view, why not record the audio while you are looking at both side by side and edit that over the video?
Man, I just wish they’d release OG TV series versions. Yeah, the old LMHG kits are still around, but those suck. Modern engineering with the old school designs would be a dream come true
Robot damashi goes for line art/anime accuracy while the RG goes crazy with added detail and more exaggerated proportions
The exaggerated proportions are more anime accurate
The damashi also seems more possible
rg is actually for more realistic proportion (mostly), as the grade name suggests, the exaggerated proportions already goes to whatever the original design it was based on.

Yup
If the damashii can last longer after being use for so long then RD > RG for me especially because it's durability is better and no arm problems
I prefer the detail in the RD. Has a more anime accurate feel, plus the wrists on the RG kinda irritate me
RG looks like the in-between stage of a potential Metal Build version and the Robot Damashi figure.

@@muisverriet my friend got one RG eva 00 and the foot joint broke very easily.. but that aside, yes its quite sturdy.
