- In this video I am fishing for chicken for catfish bait. Every catfish fisherman need catfish bait, and many feel the best catfish bait is chicken. Using chicken for catfish bait is a great way to catch a lot of catfish, without a lot of working in catching live bait for catfish.

Love your stuff. Please, now that you have 3 green rods, and 3 white rods. Please alternate them. Eliminate a location argument for the chicken. I've had many trips where only 1 side of the boat, sometimes only one rod gets bit.

…and, you’re blessed to live in a state that allows you to use more than two rods. It makes for entertaining video, but it creates false expectations for the guy with just one or two poles.
Been a fisher all my life but only trout and some bass and only ever caught one small channel cat a few years ago. Watched tons of videos and yours are the best. Been fishing my local lake for 20 years and never caught shit until I went out with your chicken cook aid recipe and caught 3 catfish in 15 minutes one of which is the biggest fish I’ve ever caught (8 pound channel cat). I use a 6/0 or 8/0 with bluegill cut bait or live. I’ve brought in fish from 1 lb - 30+ lbs on them. Works like a charm.

That's what I use most, fresh chicken and Liver (chicken, beef or prk liver), beef and pork liver stay on hook without tying it down. Thanks and take care.
I just took a group of kids to an ENC bay lake that holds channel cats. I know the reason that they hold in the location where we fish for them is because of the concentration of peanut menhaden and small mullet that are there- and yet the strawberry jello chicken still out-fished all natural bait.
I've used strawberry chicken since Dieter first tried.
Never caught a fish on it.
I did, however, catch one on strawberry porkchop 😀, and several on garlic chicken.
They eat what the want to, right?

You still have spring? Here in MO we had spring for about two weeks, then went balls deep into high summer. Then we got stuck there.
I live in Missouri also and you are right. Been a scorcher so far. Cooler today. Went out early this morning with no luck.

So yesterday it was 101 degrees. today it was 100 before the rain moved in. Then I open up THIS to see a big coat and tobaggan cap and he's thinking it MAY get up to 70 degrees..... I know it's just a delay in getting it released, but I'm jealous nonetheless.

I started using chicken thighs 3 years ago on the protein theory plus price and staying on the hook. When the price is right I use beef stew. All baits divided in portions and frozen.

Seems you catch the larger ones on cut bait for the most part. Or maybe that's what big males prefer.

Most people don't get that, they see people on TH-cam catching these big fish and they don't understand why they can't catch big ones when they have been fishing in their area for years.

We moved to Arkansas from Kansas several years ago and have been changing from our Kansas fishing methods we fished in very stained mud bottom lakes to very clear, much deeper rocky bottom lakes. I have a question about freshwater mussels. Is there a practical way to harvest them from a lake or a river? I would love to use them for bait, for I found many catfish feeds off of them in the places I fish. If not, I will just use chicken, like you do. I have noticed you never use chicken liver. I personally don't like chicken liver for bait myself. It is just a hassle and catch too many turtles on it. I am still really curious why you never use live bait. Why do you prefer fresh cut bait?
