  • In this video, we head to our factory in Antananarivo, Madagascar to see how a huge chunk of our rough Rose Quartz is transformed by our talented team into a large showpiece sphere! Because each one of these is made by hand, it's quite the long, impressive process! Each chunk is cut, ground, and polished by our amazing carvers. We hope this brings you a new appreciation for each large sphere you see!
DISCLAIMER: Don't try this at home! This process involves sharp blades and other machinery that should only be used by trained professionals.

I kinda wish more people would create giant faceted ones rather than perfect spheres. I feel like it would be more interesting to look at, even though this is very impressive as well

No protective gloves, no respiratory protection and for a few cents.
But the workers get a black lung for free.

It’s type of pneumoconiosis, but NOT black lung (cause coal dust). These workers get grinder’s disease.

@@urssmith Yes, I am a paramedic. It is a video about gemstone processing without any protective equipment. I have complained about that. In this context, the "black" lie is only a sononym and not a medical anamnesis.

@urssmith if you breathe in silica dust, aka anything made of quartz, you WILL get lung cancer. It's called Silicosis

That just might have been the coolest thing I've ever seen anyone do with a saw in my whole life. ....reminds me of something my Father used to say.....Well he was in several wars...4 purple hearts among 26 medals and spent a large part of his career as a Gunny training 100's if not 1000's of our troops and as he spoke of various techniques and weapons and their use in hand to hand combat a smile would come over his face when knives were brought up.....he would pause for a moment and say this...." Do you know the very best way a man can use his knife 🔪 ?? ". Everyone at that point goes into demonstrations of how to hold it in your hand this way or that when punch slicing the enemy......still smiling my father would say ..
    "Nope.....you eat a
apple 🍎 with it". I know it isn't exactly the same thing we just witnessed with that saw but you gotta admit it's one hell of a fine story....ha ha ha.
    Loved your technique...
    .....incredible. ☮️

I'm sure since this video has been uploaded that same artisan has suffered multiple injuries. This is incredibly dangerous work. I've tried this at home on a smaller scale, and it's not easy. The guys doing the work are getting paid next to nothing.

I'm glad they cut the audio, the cutting and grinding noise would be horrendous. Hope the workers has ear protection.
