I don't want an idol here in my heart.
By God's grace, I'm sanctified and set apart.
Many things go out of style,
When we receive the Lord's sweet smile.
I don't want an idol here in my heart.
Let's remember lot's wife;
How she failed in her life;
When she turned and looked back to the world;
There came on her a change;
That was ever so strange,
When she disobeyed God's holy world.
If we walk against light;
stumbled on through the night;
In the flesh rebellious and self-willed,
On the great judgement day,
We'll have nothing to say;
For with self and the world we were filled.
When the toils and the strife,
Of the road end in life,
And I look on my dear saviour's face.
Hear him say, "Child weldone,
A good race you have run";
I will praise Him for wonderful Grace.
I don't want an idol here in my heart.
