I mean yea of course she's been brainwashed she's been living with the liar for the past 17 years of whatever it was. She's been hearing the same lies constantly for years. If you hear the same thing about someone for years by your own mother your probably going to believe them especially if the other person isn't involved. And sadly these type of parent allentations happen all the time. One party will make up a ridiculous lie to get the other out of their lives. They will degrade the other parent infront of the child. They will do whatever they can to ensure the child sees them in the better light. All she knew for the past 17ish years has been what the mother has told her which was all lies, but to her she can't see that the mother was lying. As a child you don't believe your parents would lie to you about something so big, but in this case they did. It's not the daughter's fault she's been manipulated into thinking her father wasn't a good man. The good thing is that she was strong and independent enough to find the truth out for herself. When she found those letter she knew something was off about and needed to find the truth. Now she has it and although they cannot make up for lost time they can finally start building a bond a making father daughter memories. And now that man has a grandchild too! I'm sure now that she know the actual truth and not just the lies her mother was saying she will start to blame the real wrong person. Because I do agree the father isn't to be entirely blamed for this. The mother has 98% to blame for what happened and I'm sure the daughter will come to that realization soon if she hasn't already.
So glad you see that. As someone in the same position (not with those type of accusations but other brainwashing and parental alienation) it feels good that someone else can see it too.
@@EshiaEatzzyou also have to understand she HAS been brainwashed into thinking her father was a bad person and her mother was the good person in all of this. For years all she knew was lies so of course she going to blame the parent that's not involved in her life simply because her mother made it that way. It's not the daughter's fault she was manipulated. And I'm sure the father understands that. All she knew was lies. She believed her mother bc why wouldn't she? That's her mother. Children don't think parents can do harm. Most children think parents are superheros and would do anything to ensure the happiness and wellness of us, but that's not always the case. This situation is a prime example of parent allentation. One party has been kicked aside, and the remaining parent is doing whatever they can to ensure the child sees them as good and the other as evil. She typically only when the child is older can they start to see the cracks and start figuring out the truth. And it's a Rude awakening when the child does find out the truth because usually they have been putting blame on the wrong parent, but at the time with the information she had, she was going after the person she thought hurt her. And at the end of the day he did do some damage by not being in her life, yes there a reason for that but still that hurt she feels for him not being there is absolutely valid.

The fact the mother didn’t show up at all told me she made this whole thing up. She ruined her daughter’s life and that man’s life. Truly an evil woman!

And the fact he looked Steve right in the eyes. That’s not the actions of a dishonest man.
He also didn't mount defenses or nonsense. Often those guys will be like "there's no proof" or "when would I have done that?" He straight up said no and that's disgusting and terrible.

This made me cry. I'm a father and have a 9 month old daughter first born and I don't know how I can go 1 day without seeing her let alone 17 years. The mother/wife robbed them both of a father/daughter relationship

White men always make the lead with child SA cases every single year but in 2022 they were the hands of 229k convictions making an insane 68%. Black men at 89k conviction and Hispanic 82k convictions. White men make up more than half of all convictions and that percentage is just about to the same every single year. False accusations are such a rarity in all SA cases with the amount being so minuscule specially in comparison of the amount of unreported abuse. I always find it quite odd that people bring up odds when it only ever goes to prove the point of men being inherently violent. Why do you think society believed the mother in this video and allowed her to do what she did? Because the statistic are not in a man’s favor - specially that of a straight white male.

I knew he was innocent the moment he started talking. I feel so bad for this young girl. All those years taken from her without him. I hope then are able to start over and make new memories. And wherever lied is brought to justice.

I've seen this episode many times and it still makes me cry. This dad was accused and he never was able to clear his name until this show.

I’m adopted and the thought of her birth father trying and failing with those letters just breaks my heart. She had a dad, a dad that wanted her, and her mother was selfish and ruined it for her daughter. I’d never be able to forgive that poor excuse of a woman.

This is a man that I knew 100 percent didnt do it. You could see the pain in his eyes. And the fact her mother tried to stop her kinda proved she made this up about her ex. You can already tell by Steve's line of questioning if a guest is going to be guilty or not. He clearly knows the results of the tests before the show. Steve always goes easy on the guests he knows that are innocent.

I really felt this whole situation hit home cus my mum pulled the “he abused me” on my dad and she tried to do the same to my stepdad but I called bullshi* and stopped her and exposed her behaviour! I cut her off and now she’s riddled with guilt

A friend of mine had two children and the mother ran off without leaving any contact details. He had to pay for a private detective to find them, which took the better part of a year. Then there was a court case to get joint custody and instead she made up tons of abuse allegations and the judge only gave him 4 hours supervised visits every other Saturday. It was a 5 hour trip there (so 10 hours round trip) to get 4 hours. Even then the mum would often turn up late and the time wouldn’t get added on to the visit. So sometimes he would drive all that way, wait alone in the contact centre for 3 hours, only get visitation for 1 hour and have to drive home. He fought so hard for joint custody, but then each time it came closer to the hearing, she would move house. He would then have to track down them again and go through the whole process again since it was then in a different jurisdiction. In March 2020 he really started to struggle with mental health - mainly because of all that going on for years, but also because he was a paramedic who struggled to deal with the Covid issues at the time. It just got too much and he ended up taking his own life. He was such a good loving man who lived for his kids and yet a spiteful mother decides she doesn’t want to deal with him (she moved a new bloke in with her almost immediately) and so he basically loses his children. Now his children have lost him forever, they will never get to make up that time with their daddy (like this woman hopefully will) and his family have had to continue the fight he had to try to see their grandchildren at all. As a mother you’re supposed to love your children enough to put them ahead of any feelings you might have and women who do this kind of thing have no right to have children since they are far too selfish to be good mothers. Sorry that went off on a ramble, I just really miss him.😢

My dad and I had a rough patch for about 6 or 7 years, but he's always been in the picture. Now that we've made up, I keep thinking about how much time I lost with him. But they lost 17 years because of one vindictive person with terrible, false accusations: the mother. I can't imagine how they must feel, my heart goes out to them

I had a feeling this guy was telling the truth as soon as he started talking. That's almost two decades worth of pain written on his face. I hope they were able to establish a normal father-daughter relationship after this and that he's being a good grandfather.

My biological dad died a long time ago and growing up, I had a terrible relationship with his substitute, who was an aggressive alcoholic. He got sober while I was in college, but I wanted nothing to do with him.
Fast forward to my own eventual marriage and birth of my son. I wasn’t sure how to handle the man I called my mother’s husband. But I thought about it and realized he’d been sober for years and therefore a stranger. It’s my belief that part of preparing a child for the real world is giving them access to every tool and resource ethically available. So I decided that I wouldn’t take the opportunity for my child to have another person in his life who loved him.
Would you believe it if I said this man is the most loving, protective, selfless grandfather I’ve ever seen in my life.
I’m SO thankful that I knew how to be selfless enough that their relationship wouldn’t be defined by me.
I’m very slow to forgive, but in circumstances like this it doesn’t help anyone not go try.

Girl, you got the answer on WHO was keeping WHO away when you asked your mom about the letters! It's time to grow up and act like the adult you are supposed to be. This is SQUARELY on your mother's shoulders. The fact that she wouldn't come on the show, it WASN'T about embarrassing YOU or HIM. SHE didn't want to be embarrassed because SHE was the one who made up this whole story as a way out! I've seen it a hundred times.

That “mom” has so much hate and resentment for this man. I knew he was innocent from the beginning honestly. Father was sweet. Her mom tried to hide a respectful and loving man from her own daughter. And the fact he said he came back two weeks later to an empty house before the investigation started says A LOT. I hope they both live long and happily and that they have an amazing bond together. I also hope that they talk to the mother. cause it’s truly not fair what happened to both of these people.

Maybe it's just me, but I wouldn't be angry and accusing my father if he tearfully explained that my mother kept me away from him and made sick accusations against him.

He asked her about a hug when she came on stage and she said :”No”, so he didn’t.
And after hearing the result, when she got on her knees, he wanted to hold her, but out of respect for her earlier ‘no’, he didn’t.
Thankfully he did after that!

I've noticed this pattern, that these daughters come on this show and blame the dad for not being in their lives because they either never knew or were kept away by the mother, but they never blame the mother. The sons usually are pretty calm about it (not saying it's every time like this). In this case, her mother robbed her of knowing this man because she was mad he cheated on her and slept with a minor. There's a reason she hid the letters and didn't come to the show. I hope Donna can get a relationship with her dad now that they've met and she knows the truth
