I really appreciate this piece and I think the reason why is because it's a literal call to adventure. Literally the hero's journey in music form. A thing I notice about games that came out when kh2 did is that they all sort of marketed themselves as action packed adventures from point a, humble beginnings, to point b, grand spectacle that could change the very fabric of reality. It makes me kind of sentimental because I think we've really lost touch that. The idea of the grand narrative adventure. I miss it.
Kingdom Hearts 2 is what I call the end of an era and personally, the end to the Original Trilogy. KH1 was the perfect beginning by establishing characters we’d follow and focus on the course of the entire journey and it ends with YOU, the player growing from a naive kid into a mature young man, willing to sacrifice your needs and friends before yourself. Chain Of Memories, despite being the weaker continuation, pushed the story forward by introducing a supposed new threat and the pieces for the stage that is KH2. KH2 being the finale brings the stakes to their highest and concluding the narratives and stories of every single character we’ve been following for the past two entries. While not everything was explained, KH2 had the best feel of closure and not a blantly half assed finale which was obvious set up for the next entry but we cry and love it anyways because of nostalgia. To me, Kingdom Hearts starts with one, COM and ends with two
Had to come listen to this after the Smash reveal KH2 is easily my favorite game of all time and I’m definitely going to main Sora in this outfit once he’s out on October 18th
My fondest memory of kingdom hearths was probably me crying like a baby at the ending of the first game. I remember my stepmom coming in because I had my TV blasting loud and before she started (rightfully) yelling at me she looked at the screen and stayed there till the end of the song. I was crying rivers the whole time. I repeated that ending so many god damn times... Couldn't rest until I got 100% clear in the first game and so forward. To this day I make a real effort to play all KH games. So far I have only missed 358/2 days, which is kind of a bummer because one of my favourite characters is roxas. I want to thank Square Enix for making the biggest game ever. Something that can touch the hearth of the young and is mature enough for all audiences to apreciate. A game with so many secrets and one of the most freaking complicated plots out there. I also want to thank Utada Hikaru for making the songs for the first 2 games which were god damn amazing. Unfortunately there are rumors that she won't make the song for the third. I hope that rings untrue. And above all I want to thank The orchestras that participated in the remixed versions of the new Kingdom Heraths HD remixes. Just hearing Hollow's bastion theme sent such a big chill down my spine reminding me of the part where you feel completely powerless in the game. Even if this game didn't have the amazing story it has, it definitely has one of the best music ever made for a Video Game.

I played the first Kingdom Hearts in 2002 when I was in the second grade. I'm now about to graduate with my masters degree, likely in the same year that KH3 will come out. I've grown up with these characters, and now as the final chapter of their story is coming to an end, in a way, so is mine. After this, I'll be out in the real world with a real job, and a new chapter will begin. Some of my best memories revolve around this story and these characters, and seeing it come to a close is bittersweet. Even though it's just a game, it's helped shape who I am as a person, and I'll carry these moments with me till I die. Thanks for the memories, guys. Let's do this.

Nothing made me happier than going to Hallow Bastion and visiting Winnie the Pooh. I remember watching my mom beat the game for the first time and the feeling of accomplishment that overwhelmed me. My brother and I were ecstatic over KH2. Once he was old enough to understand how to play, I'd always fight with him over who got to play first. We grew up loving Kingdom Hearts. Fifteen years later, and that has still not changed.
I know your comment is old but I just wanna say that I was also 4 when the game released! I didn't play it then, I actually originally played it in 2013 when I was 12 and I still cherish it even now as a 20 year old KH2 will always be my favorite game lol
i just have to say the instrumental arrangement is amazing here, and i love hearing instruments that rarely get to play the melody in an orchestra proudly belting out the chorus
This arrangement is incredible. ABSOLUTEY ASTOUNDING. It ties together the original song, which is very dark and mysterious sounding and a very triumphant and deliberate sound that seems very Disney to me. The beginning if this piece expect ally reminds me of Beauty and the Beast, which, in my opinion, is the movie that kingdom hearts relates to the most. I can't stop playing this...must buy album...
My journey and addiction through Kingdom Hearts all started with the click of a mouse....14 years old when it started, now 20 and I'm still in love with the series more than I ever have been, absolutely no regrets in first whitnessing and finally playing this beautifle series that has been my biggest inspiration. A game full of characters that I can consider friends :) Not only that, but also a game that introduce me to the Final Fantasy series :3 Words can't express how truly amazing and inspiring this series is and the amount of love I have for the series is probably unhealthy in some ways lol But now and forever, the Kingdom Hearts game series will always be my favourite games of all time :3 Thank you Tetsuya Nomura!
how can you even come up with a composition like this man. Im no musician or anything but everything in this has like such a nice flow. The transitions are awesome.
My journey became one when I was 5. It was back in 2009 when I had my first PS2 (which used to be my brothers but he got a PS3 so I got his console and his old games) I was checking through his games when i found one with a 13 year-old looking boy with a girl and another boy his age surrounded by Donald and Goofy. KH2 was one of the first games i've ever played in my life, All because of the cover. When I first played I didn't really understand the story. I asked my brother and he told me, "You would understand the story if we still had KH1, but I sold it.". But when the remixes came out, that was no problem. Thank you to all the creators who contributed their time and work into KH. Your my idols!!
Everytime hearing this gives me chills and awesome memories :o These are the most meaningfull games to me because it got me emotional even when i was a kid.
Kingdom Hearts, this game has been with me all my life. From Kh1 it got my eyes on a commercial when it came out. The fanatic system for me began just from one simple commercial..and from that I played almost all them except birth by sleep..I can't wait for 2.5 HD Remix and number 3
There is some strange effect in this music that brings out emotion like no other, happiness, hope, laughter, sadness. Kingdom Hearts is something special
Kingdom Hearts (The first one) was the first game I ever played. Granted I was terrible, it was my first and remains favorite game series. Kingdom Hearts II is my favorite though, as Roxas was just relatable to me for some reason.
Listening to this song suddenly makes something click in my mind. Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts 2 both had beautiful openings, right? (Of course I am) Well, I could only predict in the third Kingdom Hearts of how beautiful THAT song opening will be. Can't wait for it to come out!
If you know Square Enix here they actually take their time with their games not rush themselves like other game companies here thts wat makes their games very real and having a amazing quality to the game so that way it can have good graphics and no crashes or what so ever
I started my KH journey very recently, and I played them in the wrong order (DDD, ReCoded, KH1). I still love the series no matter how confusing the lore may get because the characters, music, locations, etc. are freaking amazing, and the games are making me fall in love with Disney again.
i have a feint memory being 2 years old when my siblings played KH1, then when i was 4, i got into it. then KH2 came which they bought, loved it. been into the series for so long... 15 yrs old currently. cant wait for KH3
Kingdom Hearts III feels closer then it ever has been. Maybe I'm being optimistic and maybe in wrong, but as I listen to the inspirational ad nostalgic theme of this music, I get giddy and excited!!! This series means the world to me and I can't wait for Kingdom Hearts III!!!!
It's a Utada Hikaru song, so that's another legal loophole Sakurai would need to deal with. Let him rest, Sora is finally in Smash, let that be enough.
I want this to be the last thing I hear before dying. This instrumental is just the definition of looking back at everything that's happened up to that point.
I was unfortunate enough that I first came across KH2. The story was confusing (obviously I didn't know about any character), but I loved it so much. Something about it being mysterious and beautiful at the same time made me so hooked. I just watched the 2.8 trailer and now I'm on my journey to beat all of the KH games! 2:20 *bursts into tears*
Kingdom Hearts is just an AMAZING game series... It has everything a gamer could ask for and more... Epic boss fights... Wonderful musical scores... GREAT characters... And AWESOME game play...
"Thinking of you, wherever you are. We pray for our sorrows to end, and hope that our hearts will blend. Now I will step forward to realize this wish. +JB0523 Sweet. I need to get 1.5 REmix. I have 2.5 and I get goosebumps when I play KH2, it was the first one I played, and it's what got me hooked on the franchise.
Looking back at KH1 and KH:CoM, I really miss back where there was this great sense of weight and importance, and mystery in being a keyblade wielder, given that the keyblade was this mysterious and powerful weapon with no one who could teach Sora how to unlock its full potential (KH1 and CoM primarily) (don't count Merlin since he only taught Sora how to use magic; NOT his weapon), how heartless could *never truly be defeated without the keyblade* , AND they needed to be *worthy* of wielding it in the first place. KH2 did have a nice twist where Kairi was given a spare keyblade and it didn't retract back to Riku's hand the moment she took it off his hands, but nowadays, heartless could get defeated by any average weapon, and keyblades are getting handed over to characters like candy for the sake of the plot(twist). And also, thanks to BbS's debunked lore with the keyblade wielder inheritance, it blatantly meant that Sora shouldn't have even had the Kingdom Key since he hasn't made physical contact with a single keyblade in his life. And Ventus' soul wouldn't be a crutch either since he can't manifest his keyblade in a spiritual form. If the lore allowed Ventus' soul to help Sora become a peudo-keyblade wielder, Sora would have had his own unique keyblade while borrowing Riku's Kingdom Key until he gets to him. Oh well. That crucial lore was fun while it lasted until it debunked itself to hell and got ignored. I'll just play KH1 again where the series truly had its "heart" and didn't asspull its plot.
What are you talking about? KH's story may be convoluted (not disagreeing there) but it does reward those who pay attention. Yes, Riku was meant to inherit a keyblade but it doesn't mean you'll be chosen. The ceremony just means you have the makings of becoming a keyblade wielder. Also while Heartless can be defeated with normal weapons the hearts they have captured can only be freed by the keyblade so they'll just reform. As for Sora getting a keyblade, it was pretty much as stated. Riku's heart was darkened thus the keybade went to Sora because his heart was stronger at that point in time but once he got to Hallow Bastion the keyblade truly became his. Honestly, I'm more surprised you didn't bring up how 3D fucks the timeline over by introducing the concept of TIME TRAVEL into the lore.
@@Webshooters1 You're half-right about the excruciatingly-flawed time travel mumbo-jumbo logic into the plotline. The thing is, it was fucked the moment Young Xehanort was introduced as the secret boss in BbS, since Nomura had already planned the "mysterious" figure's pivotal purpose in the plot since the beginning. However, you are totally wrong about the Heartless being defeated with regular weapons. Canonically, the only weapon that can truly defeat the Heartless and free their hearts (souls) is the keyblade. This was literally mentioned in one of the expedition sequence in KH1. Nomura later forgot about this crucial plot and just got rewrote it to where "anyone can defeat a Heartless", which completely eliminates the importance of having keyblade wielders protect innocent denizens from the Heartless. Logically, there would be no need for a keyblade wielder if anyone can kill a Heartless with any weapon available. Also, how does your argument disprove my argument (which I'm stating, based on Nomura's own writing) that narratively enforces the fact that Sora was never supposed to have a keyblade on his hands in the first place, even if he was "the messenger boy"? Plus, if straying too far into the darkness is enough to make the wielder lose his keyblade privileges, then shouldn't several characters have lost theirs already, if Nomura wanted to remember his own plot? Look at Vanitas; a keyblade wielder who was created after Xehanort extracted the PURE DARKNESS in Ventus' heart. If he was nothing but darkness, shouldn't Vanitas' keyblade just transfer to Ventus right then-and-there since Vanitas would technically be labelled as "unworthy"? What about Xehanort; a keyblade MASTER who has also mastered dark arts? Shouldn't he have lost access to his own keyblade since he, too, has strayed too far into the darkness? Then you got Terra, a character you play as and literally has his heart get weakened by his own dark powers that gets him possessed, but somehow his keyblade stays in the hand of his soul-armor. Then there's Aqua-nort... I don't need to explain if you've already played KH3. Plus, for Xehanort (all keyblade versions) and Vanitas, they can literally travel through dark interdimensional portals and not lose their keyblade. In fact, it can still be summoned in the dark realm. So technically, the Kingdom Key still could have been in Riku's hands when he got absorbed into that portal, and Sora would have essentially gotten killed by the shadows or Darkside in Destiny Islands. Point is, despite how brilliant Nomura can be with his mysteries and theory-provoking plots, he's also extremely inconsistent and sometimes forgetful of the lore he wrote over the years. He kind of writes himself into plot traps, and other times, rewrites them for his own convenience; AKA: "BeCaUsE tHe PlOt DeMaNdS iT". Anyway, Hayner is a god. Xemnas was not ready for that flying-dragon kick. KH3's secret ending and later is basically pulling a Darkengard 1 ending E (2003 game btw), but in Shibuya; not Tokyo. Despite seeing all these inconsistencies, I am still excited to see what's going to happen to the future of Kingdom Hearts. What will happen to Sora, Riku, and that figure (most-likely Luxu) in Quadradum? Will Roxas and Ventus ever have a legitimate conversation about how much they look alike? Will Kiari get any more relevance than being Sora's sudden driving force and deux-ex-machina plot-armor? Find out later on... Kingdom Hearts 4!
@@pkillerx I guess I don't view them as contradictions merely expansions on existing lore but I would be remiss if I didn't agree with you that there have been ALOT of retcons in the series like the whole Ansem thing from KH2 that oh it wasn't REALLY Ansem just someone going around SAYING he was. If there's one thing I've learned from the series it's that there WILL be answers. They may be nonsensical ones but still answers and this series plot-wise has been anything but predictable. Also that wasn't Luxu in the secret ending, that was The Master Of Masters. Union X pretty much spells it out that he sought Quadratum because it's a place where light and dark have no sway.
kingdom hearts taught me that friends will keep your spirits up no matter where they are and if you hold on to your dreams and keep your heart strong you will pass every obstacle. even Sephiroth ^^
After nearly shedding tears to the orchestral version of ‘don’t think twice’ I came back to this version as Sanctuary always resonated with me!!! Yep still amazing, still a classic and still my favourite (although don’t think twice is now running a close second the ending to kh3 had me more emotional than I thought it would be. I love me some Simple and Clean but it’s been so overused I’m over it at this point) Okay my rant is done lol
Kingdom hearts 2.5 comes out next year but if you go on amazon.. It's says December because it doesn't have an official date but kingdom hearts 3 will hopefully come out by 2015!
***** I'm going to agree with you and say it will be about 2016-2017. In the latest trailer when they were doing the teasers for KH III, you could see clips of Dream Drop Distance, so it might be possible at least one more HD game comes out. Though very unlikely, they might do it to hold the fans down for a little longer while they keep up with development. That and Final Fantasy XV, which might also might keep fans occupied for a while longer.
My first memories of Kingdom Hearts was when I was 4 or 5. My older brother played it all the time, and I always watched, enchanted by the story and the colors and the music and the characters. We shared the same enthusiasm throughout the years, and he even gave me all of his kh manga. Though I never played a lick of Kingdom Hearts and always spectated, I still felt as if I had been carried on the journey as well. Isn't it odd how a game can capture the wonder of all ages, even at such a young age? I'm now 15, and seeing the new trailer for kh made me tear up a bit (´⌣`ʃƪ)
im actually preparing to make a marching band drill with the orchestra version of hikari and passion with a special version of dearly beloved :) its gonna be an epic senior boards project!

"Isn't it our duties as Keyblade-Wielders to prevent this?" "Nah. Not possible"
I’m just gonna leave this comment here for everyone to express their hype for kingdom hearts 4 before it comes out.
"To spend one more night beneath the stars... With my best friends... I'm doing it again..."
Aqua..
There’s just something so very special about this Kingdom Hearts Orchestral piece.
Here 5 minutes before Sora is added into Smash Bros!
Birth by sleep is major in the story. Please play it or you won't be able to understand the current story.
I recently just finished the story
Awesome. I've played all games except CoM, though I already knew what happened in that game, so I know what was going on in kh2.
If they ever remaster 358/days this should be the intro cinematic song, like Simple and clean'S orchestra version for Dream Drop Distance
I firmly believe this series has endeared itself to people MOSTLY on the brilliance of it´s soundtrack
"Just stop it! You treat hearts like they're bottles on a shelf, but they're not!"
God i think this is one of the most underrated song in the series.
Jeshuah Gaxiola sorry it’s trash
@@caloFi no it’s not lol
Essa música.... não tem como descrever o quão bela é.
This motivates me during my A-Level coursework. Amazing.
If you know Square Enix here they actually take their time with their games not rush themselves like other game companies here thts wat makes their games very real and having a amazing quality to the game so that way it can have good graphics and no crashes or what so ever
And RockSteady, they always take there time for Batman Arkham trilogy :)
I started my KH journey very recently, and I played them in the wrong order (DDD, ReCoded, KH1). I still love the series no matter how confusing the lore may get because the characters, music, locations, etc. are freaking amazing, and the games are making me fall in love with Disney again.
Best outro, to any video game period. When I finished the game and this ending orchestral score popped in, it was a masterpiece.
Only, on par ending theme was "Nice to know ya" at the end of Cyberpunk 2077
The kingdom hearts 2.8 trailer brought me here
Exactly! lol thought I was the only one.
U r not alone!
The hype lured me to this sanctuary!
Same.
XD
MANS IS IN!!!!
Wow still in love after all these years 🥰 great score
I heard this song so many times as a child and every singles one of the time, I would cry.
i have a feint memory being 2 years old when my siblings played KH1, then when i was 4, i got into it. then KH2 came which they bought, loved it. been into the series for so long... 15 yrs old currently. cant wait for KH3
This takes me back to a better place. When so much of my time was spent sitting at the foot of my bed with controller in hand.
I would listen to this for hours as a kid it's so damn good
Beat KH 1 when I was 6, then when KH 2 came out when I was 12... Omg I was so obsessed.
We had awesome childhood WHOOO im still hype for KH3 and KH2.8 LP im shaking!!
If only we could have this for Sora in smash.
It's a Utada Hikaru song, so that's another legal loophole Sakurai would need to deal with. Let him rest, Sora is finally in Smash, let that be enough.
@@noobofalltrades9766 I understand that well enough, just really wish it was a possibility.
You can, with Smash Mods. I already know I’m putting all the “banned” KH songs on Hollow Bastion
Dude growing up I remember playing on my first console and playing my first game, kingdom hearts 2, Disney has always been my life,
I want this to be the last thing I hear before dying. This instrumental is just the definition of looking back at everything that's happened up to that point.
I'm not crying, you're cying!
Congrats to Sora getting in Smash 🎊🎉🎊💥✨🎊🎊🎉🎉👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼😄😆
I was unfortunate enough that I first came across KH2. The story was confusing (obviously I didn't know about any character), but I loved it so much. Something about it being mysterious and beautiful at the same time made me so hooked.
I just watched the 2.8 trailer and now I'm on my journey to beat all of the KH games! 2:20 *bursts into tears*
This brings me to tears it's so beautiful
2:20 my fav part
Kingdom Hearts is just an AMAZING game series... It has everything a gamer could ask for and more... Epic boss fights... Wonderful musical scores... GREAT characters... And AWESOME game play...
Actually im in symphonic band in my school and im amazed at this,.I wish I could play this in the future, this is just so grand!
"You can barely stand on your 2 feet, just give up already!"
Come on Sora, I thought you were stronger than that.
@@Webshooters1 But Sora, I thought you liked games. Or are you too cool to play them now that you have the Keyblade?"
"Thinking of you, wherever you are. We pray for our sorrows to end, and hope that our hearts will blend. Now I will step forward to realize this wish.
And who knows: starting a new journey may not be so hard,: or maybe it has already begun.
There are many worlds, but they share the same sky -one sky, one destiny."
I toke sooooo long to find this music. Really.
My uncle died before he got to play this game
R.I.P
The first game I ever played. This hits hard
Hits me right in the feels
OUR BOY MADE IT INTO SMASH BROS!!!
Truly a work of heart!
Just bought 1.5 and 2.5 remix. Getting ready for the finale!
+JB0523 Sweet. I need to get 1.5 REmix. I have 2.5 and I get goosebumps when I play KH2, it was the first one I played, and it's what got me hooked on the franchise.
Simply beautiful
2:26 TheGamersJoint's intro
*TheGamersJoint's old intro
+TheEmeraldMaster exactly what I think every time I hear that part
I miss his old intro... His new ones haven't been that great IMO
Sora: you gotta have a heart to cry. *starts crying because of beautiful kingdom hearts music*
kh2 is the first kh game i play and i love it kingdom hearts the king of rpg gamed
+Bryan Saavedra why kh2 first u prob had no idea wtf was going on lol
I only buy kh2
Also ddd and 358/2 days
I sorta understand it
I started with KH II too! My favourite game. :)
They use this track on every trailer
cuz they know how awesome it is!
smw they've used it in one 2.8 trailer, and like never else. It's always Rage Awakened they use for the trailers
kingdom hearts taught me that friends will keep your spirits up no matter where they are and if you hold on to your dreams and keep your heart strong you will pass every obstacle. even Sephiroth ^^
I love this song with the orcastra sound type...... :)
I love me some Simple and Clean but it’s been so overused I’m over it at this point)
Okay my rant is done lol
I just beat Pride mode on KH2 today and this song will never leave me
Kingdom hearts was the very first video game I ever played...Good times sniff sniff
Idk 2010's people but I miss ps2 from 2000's i have goosebumps back my childhood
Kingdom hearts 2.5 comes out next year but if you go on amazon.. It's says December because it doesn't have an official date but kingdom hearts 3 will hopefully come out by 2015!
I dont think so... if they put half the effort into kh3 that they put into ffxv then we arnt looking for a release date till at least 2016
And today, the date was announced, it's October for Japan and early December for NA/EU :)
Super Domains more than likely
***** I'm going to agree with you and say it will be about 2016-2017. In the latest trailer when they were doing the teasers for KH III, you could see clips of Dream Drop Distance, so it might be possible at least one more HD game comes out. Though very unlikely, they might do it to hold the fans down for a little longer while they keep up with development. That and Final Fantasy XV, which might also might keep fans occupied for a while longer.
XxKyubiKunxX when does ffxv come out?
