    Very good video. Concerning the color tinted resin: Is the shelf life the same as the untinted CJ? I ask because the remaining amount will be small by volume and must be stored in a separate container. Correct?

      Yes I store dyed cactus juice separately. From my experience yes, it seems to be similar shelf life. But that's just my observation. Nothing scientific to prove that unfortunately.

      My vacuum chamber is the cheapest I could get with acrylic lid. I would not recommend it to anyone. It's OK for my use and had no incidents as yet but for sure it's not the best option. If you want to get to this seriously or even for own use I would only recommend vacuum chambers with glass lids. Just do a search on Google as I don't own a chamber with glass lid I can't really recommend anything.
      Sorry I could not be more help.

    Hi. Thanks for the information. I’m building an outdoor chair made of Western Red Cedar. I’m thinking about curing it with Cactus Juice instead of a standard finish.
    Would I cut and sand all the pieces prior to curing? Does the process warp wood? Planks about 1” x 4” x 3’ or so. My thought is to get every piece ready for assembly, including holes where needed, and then putting them through the process. I just worry about warping the pieces out of shape.
    Also, can I mix a cedar stain in with the CJ? Or stain them prior to curing?
    I’d appreciate your advice.
    Thanks,
    Paul

    • @CasualDIY
      @CasualDIY  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well I have to say not had a question like that before. You know you have to fully submerge the wood in cactus juice then put it in a vacuum chamber and then bake it? It's either a very small chair or you got a massive owen and a huge vacuum chamber 😅 . If we are talking about normal sized chair then you will need gallons of cactus juice and that will cost you a small fortune. The wood needs to be bone dry, close to 0% of moisture. So the drying process ( in the owen) may lead to wood warping .
      All that aside I would not recommend using this as a finish in any way shape or form. When you follow the cactus juice stabilization process then what you get is a very hard, dence material that will be more brittle. Not suitable for furniture making.

    Hi Tomasz, how hard does this wood become? If you stabilize a cutting board this way, would the wood not be able to chip when someones using a hatchet against it?

    • @CasualDIY
      @CasualDIY  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It becomes very hard. But not bullet proof if you know what I mean. I would not recommend this prices to be used on any wood that would come in contact with food. The reason you would use an end grain cutting board is that it will not dull your knife so quickly.

    • @CasualDIY

      In this case it went through the whole thickness, right to the core. You can but the results will depend on many factors and two pieces of the same board during the sane process may give different results.

    I'm sure you're telling you important information
    I am so sorry I could not fully understand because my English is not good. I need the answers to my questions below in writing.
    I am writing from istanbul turkey you will have 4 questions
    1. For each color, the paint impregnation process is outside and in the boiler, it should be waited separately for how many hours.
    2. How many hours should it wait in the stabilizing liquid in the vacuum boiler?
    3. How many hours are left in the oven each time and how many degrees the temperature should be.
    4. What are the important points that I should be especially careful about.

    I like the coloring and everything, however you’re not stabilizing the wood. You’re only soaking the outside layers and any crevices that the liquid can go into. To stabilize it you have to fully submerge the wood and put it into a vacuum chamber where it sucks the bubbles out, replacing them with resin.
