Copied the instructions to the letter, yet the menus are still messed up. I also have a HOTAS (Warthog throttle, Virpil stick and logitech pedals. Any way to get these working in the game? Using Windows 10

Can you give us a small step-by step instruction how you got it to work? I tried it myself a few days ago, but I don't get the UI menu screens to correctly display mission briefings and other text.
I've been flying this myself since 1998. And it does have a 3D clickable cockpit - decades before DCS. And Flanker 1.5 for that matter.... Easy to setup and run in Windows 10 these days.

DCS still (so far until EDGE comes out, and may still after that) quite a bit of Flanker code behind the scenes, though less as time goes on. Thus, DCS has a code-base which is decades old, which is no bad thing imho. The FC3 Su-27 is effectively Flanker v7.0 ; Sorry if that was not more clear. As for Janes F-15, still flying that now. And, for good measure, the first combat sim I flew was also the first 3D graphics combat sim for the IBM Compatible - subLOGIC Jet. 1.0, which I have among other early MS and subLOGIC sims running in a custom DOSBOX session as needed. Sorry for not being more clear.
USAF looked much better but was very arcade compared to this. The flight model of this game was miles ahead of USAF. Such a great "flying feel" this game had.
I don't know how to I missed this game, I played a lot with the 1992 Microprose Strike Eagle 3, it was realistic at the time, it stood out from the other simulators,only the Tornado,Falcon3,Apache Longbow 2,EF2000,F22TAW,F14 fleet defender,F18 superhornet,where his realistic rivals
I remember becoming a pro at this game lmao.. so many many many hours i put in it.... It had a very advanced flight model for a jane's product. I would say it has the most advanced one of all jane's games. In a time where every sim felt "on rails", this thing really made you feel like you would flip the plane if you pulled too hard and too slow.
The missions and wingmen behavior was much better than in DCS . For DCS great graphic and system learning but poor with radio interactions and AI. With F15 Janes the ambiance, wigmen behavior and mission was so immersive!
Agreed. I could play Jane’s missions in single player for hours as it was so immersive. I can’t stand DCS single player. However, some of the paid campaigns are pretty good.
What guide did you follow? I had it running well on my old windows 11 rog, but cant seem go get it running after the hardware upgrade. I can't seem to get it to play in the foreground, it always ends up in the background. F-18 was another good one, but that's even more difficult to get running. To think we were running these on Pentium IIs. The hardware now must feel like going through lightspeed to these old games lol.
Agreed. I built an old Win98/Voodoo PC because I missed them so much. DCS gets too boring. It needs a dynamic campaign engine. Im sick of waiting for it.
Longbow 2 was one of my favorite sims. If I recall, you could log into Jane's combat network or something like that and fly as front or back seat with another person in the same ship. I spent hundreds of hours in F15, longbow 2, and falcon 4. My first aircraft sim was Joint Strike Fighter and it started there. Greatly preferred F15 once I got that. Like many others I went very deep into F4 and finally got my ppl. While I felt like F4 surpassed F15, nothing ever touched longbow2. So much fun flying those missions. I particularly enjoyed the prisoner rescue covering the ch53 extraction.
Hey guys I’ve never played the jane’s series, i’m 40 , do you think it’s woth it to start now? And if yes whith one of them should i start in my i7 win10? Please i’m a poor simulator addicted ( not enough money to play dcs )
eBay has CDs for $10 shipped. I just put out a video showing how to run it on windows 10. It's doesn't run perfect but good enough to have some fun. Also, DCS World is free with 2 planes included (TF51 and SU25T). If you hit the sales right, you can pickup the Flaming Cliffs 3 planes for $7.50 each which is literally a steal. You can start with the F15C or A10A.
I've been trying to find how to get this and Jane's longbow for probably over a year but I have no clue how I should go about it. Does anyone have any resources I can look into to figure out how to get this?

For me, Nglide worked better. The menus are still distorted a bit but you can figure your way through them. Not perfect, but it’s worth it.

This was the game back in the day, longbow 2 also. Still have all my CDs, voodoo card and a Janes f16 combat flight stick, which is useless now. Great times.
Maybe that stick could work with a USB adapter, or modified for USB output with new controller circuits.

Yes!!! Loved this game! The combat lobby was the best…all of the Virtual Fighter Wings we set up and the rivalries. It was awesome.

Better flight dynamics than MSFS.
Janes and Falcon 4.0 are still better sims IMO. DCS has got to do a campaign. Janes did Desert Storm.

Unfortunately it’s stuck at 20 FPS. There is nothing we can do to change that. But it still runs smooth though.
