I usually write YA/NA romance so I'm currently writing a wlw NA romance but for right now I'm mainly focusing on writing short stories of different genres. Love the vlog! This is very motivating for me, as I just got back into writing this summer (YA/middle grade fantasy :D) and it is difficult, but it is super worthwhile. I'm always looking for new writers to watch. Do you have any advice on how to start a youtube channel? I'm so nervous. All of the people I watch are so confident. I don't know if I can do it, but I really want to.
That’s so fair to be nervous. It can be daunting! I had a lifestyle TH-cam channel in middle school, so I feel like from that channel and from starting this one, the best advice I know is (cliche) to just do it. There’s never a “right time” to start - there’s just now! If you have a camera or phone, you can use that to film. And then there are various editing softwares out there of varying intensity - like iMovie. Start with something not too complicated if you don’t have as much experience, and then grow from there. It may be awkward at first talking to a camera, but you grow more comfortable the more you film and you become more of yourself! I absolutely think you can do it. The people you watch are confident because they have experience, and once you start growing yours, your confidence will rise with it :) i believe in you!!
I'm going to sound like Captain Obvious, but if your struggling with her voice, research writing preteen character, if you haven't already. Most people forget what they were like in their younger years, because no one is paying attention to it. You stumbling your way into figuring out what the voice of a preteen is, isn't very productive.
I’m so glad I found you! I’m starting a novel too based off a short story I wrote years ago and have been stuck for so long. Seeing others get their motivation back and try again is also inspiring me 🤎 also, what do you use to write on? I’ve been using word, but I heard that other platforms are better.
I’m so glad you’re here! Totally relate to feeling stuck while writing, I hope we can get to write and progress together 🫶🏽 I use Scrivener to write! I love it a lot, though once I get to the line editing and final revisions stage, then I transition to Word. I highly recommend Scrivener for all its added writer-focused features! There’s a bit of a learning curve, but I find the longer you use the platform, the more helpful nuggets you discover.
Ah thank you so much for all the resources!! I’m definitely going to finish Save the Cat! And I have a few of these on my list, I’ll def bump them up! Loveee Liselle, Heart Breathings, Sarah Sutton, and Kayla Kempers, but I’ll be sure to check them all out! I haven’t a clue if I’ll be doing NaNo this year, but if I do, it definitely won’t be 50,000 words, because I’m not sure I’d be able to handle that with work! But I do think I might try to be a NaNo rebel this year. I think I’ll probably be revising Project Kya by then, so I may work on that. Or I’ll start my next middle grade idea! I dunno yet, but I’m excited to see once we get closer!! I’d definitely love to see you there as well :,) happy writing and the best of luck with the 4th novel !!💫🫶🏽

But I do think I might try to be a NaNo rebel this year. I think I’ll probably be revising Project Kya by then, so I may work on that. Or I’ll start my next middle grade idea! I dunno yet, but I’m excited to see once we get closer!!
