As a legendary trio, Groudon, Kyogre and Rayquaza are S tier in that regard. They're all just so good in design, epicness and competitive. Plus imho Hoenn has the strongest set of legendaries for all generations
Agreed, i started playing pokemon later but the 3rd gen is peak in so many things, one of the best regions, some of the best pokemons, an actual story for early pokemon games, and the best legendary trio

if you’re talking about strength in competitive the trio is pretty mediocre ( not kyogre tho lol ) like yeah, groudon sets upweather, sun respectively, but just use a torkoal plus sun doesn’t even help groudon, he’s a ground type and landorus is just a lot better “ what about fire typing? “ incineroar oh yeah kyogre op

There’s something so beautiful about old pokemon designs that I can’t quite figure out why they cant replicate it with today’s pokemon.
I think it was the simplicity and how they were less smoothed
Gen 1 and 2 followed the same philosophy but gen 3 motto for pokemon design was ‘make it cool af’
