This s really really so useful to a beginner as well as one who prepares for an interview. I dono how I missed such a gud video all these days. Thank you so much, you have covered all details and explained very well..
It has been two years since I quit my job as a mainframe developer. I am trying to find a job now. This video is a great refresher. I am surprised that I remember most of it! Thanks for sharing this :)
To add a simple interview point, to check an empty file check in JCL, we need to use IDCAMS utility. In sysin dd * give PRINT INREC COUNT(1), if this step gives RC 0, means file is not empty. If RC 4, file is empty. Thanks for the video. At many places there was no clear explanation for standard interview questions. Like NOSCRATCH, NOLIMIT in GDG parameters. It looked like a pushover. If standard Abends and resolution would have been helpful. Like, SB37, SOC7 etc..
Really very useful for me , I'll never watch a 1 hr programming video but in this video there is no lag or boring very clear explanation on jcl thank you so much 👏👏
This is really very useful Kumar. Much appreciated for your dedicated work. You are making a huge impact in the lives of many! God Bless! Keep Rocking!
Thank you so much Kumar for share this valuable review, definitely it help us to have fresh knowledge and understand better many concepts and for sure to be prepared for the interviews, thansk so mucho :)
The video is just awesome to have all the information of JCL in one video. It helped a lot before the interview. Thank you for the help. Could you please have video for identifying multiple JCL error and how we can resolve? It will help us.
I had a break for 1 and half years.. but after watching this video, I feel like I never missed mainframe.. if possible REXX,SAS,EZTRIEVE tool interprets with jcl .. also how we can communicate from outside of mainframe..
Your sort is not working correctly at 44:00 because some numbers are 4 digits and some 5, can u pls explain how to sort it? record with id 8014 should come first if we are sorting in ascending order
Hi Kumar, Video was Awesome & nice explanation it was very helpful to have a quick refresh on JCL. Also can you please upload videos on Join keys with some real time examples, it would be more helpful. Thank you.
Just a return-code different of 0 (because missing the SYSIN DD STATEMENT) not an Abend ! IEBGENER must be used here to copy data from //SYSUT1 to //SYSUT2. IDCAMS coudl eventually be used also for the same purpose, but then you must code control-statements in IDCAMS's SYSIN file !
Can you make a video where you can take all the error and abends which we get in Mainframes (cobol , JCL and DB2)..such a nice video... really good work
hello sir, your videos helped me a lot during my training period ,now for my project call i am preparing ,this 1 hr video is useful to glance. One doubt if use cond =even/only in job statement what will happen can u explain elaborately.
That's really helpful, just one thing you told about NoScratch - when the limit is reached the latest generation is deleted but as far as I know the oldest will be deleted, please correct me if I am wrong
scratch means deleted permanently and noscratch means temporary deleted.if we mention empty noscratch go option 3.4 and in that volume s7sys1 see that hidden information.
