The anime elevated Kaidou's backstory a lot more. I always thought he was an amazing villain but this adds more dimensions to him. He was born in a world of violence from Vodka needing to wage war for the celestial contributions to being sold of as a weapon for said contributions. Then needing to fight for his food and earning his spot with Rocks due to his fighting abilities. It's always been a fight to survive.
Luffy just floating in the sky, laughing, after delivering such an epic finisher, and the lanterns just surrounding him was an amazing moment. He's just so majestic 👑
It’s still just a quick montage/glimpse of it unfortunately, not enough for a villain of his stature. There’s still lots of questions & mystery about Kaido that never got answered
@@handsmcgee8331 I love kaido but he isn't a complicated villain like doffy so he didn't really need a long and detailed backstory he was shown in both yamatos and odens backstories and his small backstory add to that he is a part of the rocks crew and the god valley incident so we will still see more of him when that whole flashback gets revealed
@@abdalrhman7998 Kaido was actually a pretty interesting character I’d argue from the moment of his introduction, he was also an overarching villain since punk hazard so he definitely deserved to get a fleshed out backstory imo. He simply just didn’t get enough & the Gods Valley thing isn’t an excuse to not give him a good one, that was only a small portion of his life there’s so much outside of Gods Valley that they could’ve shown for Kaido like his race, Yamato’s mother, his actual motives, why he wanted to end himself, etc. Big Mom got a fleshed out backstory without revealing any of the Gods Valley stuff so I don’t see why they couldn’t do same for Kaido. In the end Kaido feels like a generic brute villain because they didn’t really expand on him like they should’ve but the intrigue, complex, potential in his character was definitely there.

I think most fans, if they are being honest, would agree with you. I switched to manga only for about 7 years. Started reading the manga in the middle of dressrosa (2015), and completely stopped watching the anime after Luffy's king kong gun "beam" struggle against doflamingo. First one piece anime episode I watched after that was 1015 (aired april 2022). Which is still my favorite one piece episode. I'm still not watching the anime regularly, but these gear 5 episodes have been amazing. Sanji and Zoro's finals against Queen and King were also better then the manga in my opinion.

They were experimental and great at listening to the community in complaints about animation. On top of fleshing out parts of the manga that weren't quite wrapped out neatly.
I went into this episode knowing they were going to do a power struggle. I was afraid toei might fundle and make it as bad as the king kong gun power struggle versus doffy. Which is what got me to completely quit the anime until roof piece started. Boy am I happy I was wrong. They did a power struggle, but I loved the way they did it. Toei took all my problems with 1049, fixed them, and made the experience overall better. Kaido's lackluster flashback might not be perfect, but the anime made it feel more fleshed out. Momo's flame cloud moment wasn't perfect either, but it felt better in the anime. Luffy's underwhelming victory in the manga was also fixed. Perfect end to the fight showing Luffy laughing surrounded by the lanterns. They took the source material and made it better. Absolutely amazing job by toei. What a great time to be a one piece fan.
When Kaido was 8 or younger , he was force to become a adult and fight to survive. Sold to the navy at 12. Became a outlaw for 2-4 years. Join the Rock pirates and Start a empire. Momonosuke, had a easy life until he was 8 and was force to grow up and not able to really live. Both dragon on the same coin. Oda trying to say, depending on your economics, that how people will turn out.

Kaido is in my Top 5 favorite antagonists in the series, the only thing that stops him from being above guys like Doflamingo and Katakuri is the little we have of his past and motivations.
I feel like his backstory, or at least his time with Rocks is going to be its own thing and we’re going to get a more fleshed out Rocks story and how they came to be. So we’ll see Big Mom and the other Yonko getting introduced as pirates that way.

The only problem I have with the anime is the pacing, other than that there's nothing to complain about, especially in Wano. If they made the anime seasonally and gave the manga time to accumulate chapters it would easily be in my top 3

They f it up like every time they've had to do a fist clash against something. The animators are supposed to know some phisics. So sorry they didn't make an execption and rearranged the scenes to make them flow properly.
This arc was fn awesome. I loved it. Zoro was MVP ( Most Vicious Pirate) again. Sanji power ups are amazing n the growth of Franky,Chopper n Robin were on point.
Zoro v King hit harder for me in-terms of how the anime portrayed it, they set a really high bar with that episode if I'm honest. Still think they did a great job with this non the less.

I’m be honest this episode was a wave of emotions I felt the story in my heart it wasn’t a full fight spec ep but the next episode the curtain falls is gonna be even more touching
BDA kaido did tell luffy that Haki conquers the world and luffy took his advice and showed him what Haki was. Kaido stated in the last episode or 2 that Gold D. Roger conquered the world and did not have a devil fruit just Haki.

Wano manga: 8.5/10 (Amazing)
Wano anime: 9.6/10 (Almost perfect)

BDA kaido did tell luffy that Haki conquers the world and luffy took his advice and showed him what Haki was. Kaido stated in the last episode or 2 that Gold D. Roger conquered the world and did not have a devil fruit just Haki.
