Thanks for your encouraging comment we both appreciate it. No we haven't changed camera but did change the lens. We were outdoors so could use a Canon 50mm f1.4 as opposed to being indoors with the zoom kit lens at 35mm f4.5, so we achieved the cinematic shallow depth of field we wanted. Canon RP on a tripod and sound is our Saramonic Blink 500 dual wireless transmitters and receiver with lav mics taped under our shirts. Glad you liked the video quality. Thanks for watching.

As a child, my family along with two other families would travel from Ohio in the US to stay at Miller’s Lake on the peninsula. We would always take a trip to Tobermory. At that time as a child, I remember the beauty but also the best bakery ever! I have been many places in the world in my 68 years but Tobermory still stands out as one of my favorites.
You know...One of these days Jo and I are going to make it up your way. This is a really lovely looking area. Now I have the "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" running round my brain!
We are sure you would both love the area. There are 20 shipwrecks around Tobermory, the glass bottom boat sails over the wreck of the Sweepstakes schooner sank in 1885…..that’s why the lighthouse was built. Have a great weekend Arnie thanks for watching.
Hi Tina and Norm. If you decide to visit the U.S. this winter, be sure to consider a trip to Palm Springs and Palm Desert, CA. The winter months in the Mojave Desert are magical and the desert plant life is in full bloom. Also, you will have a breathtaking view of the San Jacinto Mountains just west of the desert cities. On the other hand, if you decide to visit Southern Arizona, be sure not to miss Saguaro National Park in the Sonoran Desert near Tucson, AZ. The park includes some of the tallest and biggest cacti in the world. It's truly an amazing place! The Desert South West in the U.S. has some of the best winter weather in North America. The sun shines all the time there and the temperatures are usually in the high 70s to 80 degrees F (25-26 degrees C) that time of year. Unlike Florida, the Desert Southwest should be less crowed to visit during these prime winter months. Let me know what you think.

My wife and I have a 'Beautiful Day' rule. When the weather is perfect we drop everything we are doing and go out and LIVE! It's the 7th of November, on a beautiful Canadian day-- we're going kayaking.
I have been to all those locations, Wiarton (in fact, we attended a wedding there) and have family who own a couple of cottages, also Tobbermory and been on the Chic Cheemaun Ferry over to Manitoulin Island. And been on the glass bottom boat, seen the shipreck. It is a very beautiful location. I plan to spend some time there this summer 2022 with family.
We have plans to ride the ferry to Manitoulin Island and maybe stay a couple of days there and in Tobermory. It is a beautiful area. Thanks for watching.
We here in Ontario are very lucky to have so many lakes. Southern Ontario is beautiful but I hear northern Ontario is even more amazing because of the minimal amount of building. It is much more rugged. Thanks for the video guys. Cheers!!!
I have to say Tina and Norm you have the best of both worlds, snowbirds in Algarve and spending the summers in Ontario. Our neighbors decided going to Albufeira for the winter instead of Florida this year. WE are in the Niagara Region and have a home in Aveiro.

@@ThisIsOurRetirement who knows, they are just dangling the carrot at this stage. It doesn’t come with its own restrictions. If you are not vaccinated you have to quarantine for two weeks on return or if you are vaccinated you have to isolate in your home for 7 days. Some of our states are not letting Victorian’s in until we are 90% fully vaccinated. We had to cancel our two weeks in Tasmania until next year. 😑

We did the trip to Tobermory in June and totally loved our mini vacation. Stayed in a Yurt at the National Park - just fabulous, did the Grotto hike. Visited lots of spots on the way back.

Sure we have Bento 🍱 boxes with 3 sections in one we had rice stuffed grape vine leaves, in another cut up tomato 🍅 with olive oil , garlic and herbs sprinkled with feta cheese , and in the big section hearts of palm , celery , cucumber mixed with Mayonnaise over cut up lettuce it was delicious 😋 Enjoy 🍷🍁
What a lovely way to spend Ground Hog Day. We've also had a wonderful September. Autumn well and truly here now though. Still that has it's own charm. A couple of years ago at about this time of the year we made a relaxed "around the Georgian Bay" road trip with overnight stops at Tobermory and Parry Sound with a late-season sailing on the ferry Chi-Cheemaun. The two-hour ferry run was a good test of whether we were cut out for ocean cruising - we weren't.
Great story sorry the trial put you off cruising , we have had some awesome cruises 🚢 before Covid and rarely had bad weather except going from New Zealand to Australia 😱but we survived LOL 😂😂Cheers 🍷🍁🍺

Tobermory is such a great spot! Thanks for showing it to everyone and checking in on Wiarton Willie too :) The Bruce Peninsula National Park is not far from there and a great place to camp - it's a dark sky preserve so you can really enjoy stargazing there. We just spent a week across the other side of Georgian Bay in Killarney Provincial Park canoe portaging for a week and for the last week of September the weather was so warm and skies were clear! Awesome!!! You should take a ride on the Chi Chimaun ferry - it;s so much fun!!

If you have a chance to revisit the area you must see Cyprus Lake in the Bruce Peninsula National Park. The Groto is amazing. And Singing Sands Beach is worth it as well! Enjoyed another video once again.
Small world … I was in Wiarton today ! They finally finished paving and opening the highway through downtown… finally ! Tobermory is now the 4th most visited place in Canada and the traffic proves it ! ‼️

So great to see this video. I took the ferry back in 77 on a school trip. It was my first time in Ontario at age 17. Just fantastic. Im Sure it's a newer ferry here. Very nice to see.
You are lucky that you have had some nice late summer/early fall weather where you are. Here in Seattle our autumn started pretty much on Labor Day, with temperatures struggling to get above 15C. But after the summer we had, when it got up to 46C at one point, I will take an early autumn. 😁

when I was a kid I remember the old ferry it was really old then and very narrow so much time has gone by since the 60's sometimes I miss that area but bc is nice too....

Thanks for posting! I did many scuba dives at Tobermory with one of my all-time favourites being a night dive at Big Tub Harbour lighthouse. We surfaced to see all the stars and floated on our backs just soaking it all in. Cheers, Steve
Hey I have an idea for a segment for the "This is Our Retirement" series. I even have a title. "Norm and Tina Visit the Cannabis Shop." Essentially Norm and Tina would go visit one of the daily growing number of Ontario cannabis retailers, interview the clerk to find out how many seniors visit regularly (you will be "SHOCKED"). Make a purchase and experience the wares in the comfort of your rental condominium. A follow-up could be "Norm and Tina visit the LCBO" or "Norm and Tina make a stop at the Beer Store" (most of that video would involve standing in line for hours to return your empties). Again excessive consumption of purchased product would make things much more entertaining.

Tobermory is also close to the Flowerpot Island which is famous for the two rock pillars that looks like flowerpots.

@@ThisIsOurRetirement who knows, they are just dangling the carrot at this stage. It doesn’t come with its own restrictions. If you are not vaccinated you have to quarantine for two weeks on return or if you are vaccinated you have to isolate in your home for 7 days. Some of our states are not letting Victorian’s in until we are 90% fully vaccinated. We had to cancel our two weeks in Tasmania until next year. 😑

We did the trip to Tobermory in June and totally loved our mini vacation. Stayed in a Yurt at the National Park - just fabulous, did the Grotto hike. Visited lots of spots on the way back.
That’s wonderful to stay in the National Park, we were just on a day out from our trailer in Kincardine but we would love to do the grotto hike. Thanks so much for watching and sharing your experience.

Sure we have Bento 🍱 boxes with 3 sections in one we had rice stuffed grape vine leaves, in another cut up tomato 🍅 with olive oil , garlic and herbs sprinkled with feta cheese , and in the big section hearts of palm , celery , cucumber mixed with Mayonnaise over cut up lettuce it was delicious 😋 Enjoy 🍷🍁

Thanks for the video. A couple of years ago at about this time of the year we made a relaxed "around the Georgian Bay" road trip with overnight stops at Tobermory and Parry Sound with a late-season sailing on the ferry Chi-Cheemaun. The two-hour ferry run was a good test of whether we were cut out for ocean cruising - we weren't.
Great story sorry the trial put you off cruising , we have had some awesome cruises 🚢 before Covid and rarely had bad weather except going from New Zealand to Australia 😱but we survived LOL 😂😂Cheers 🍷🍁🍺

Tobermory is such a great spot! Thanks for showing it to everyone and checking in on Wiarton Willie too :) The Bruce Peninsula National Park is not far from there and a great place to camp - it's a dark sky preserve so you can really enjoy stargazing there. We just spent a week across the other side of Georgian Bay in Killarney Provincial Park canoe portaging for a week and for the last week of September the weather was so warm and skies were clear! Awesome!!! You should take a ride on the Chi Chimaun ferry - it;s so much fun!!

Have you both visited the small towns in B.C. outside Vancouver, such as Nelson, for example? The photos online look incredible. Ontario looks good too though. 👍🏾

If you have a chance to revisit the area you must see Cyprus Lake in the Bruce Peninsula National Park. The Groto is amazing. And Singing Sands Beach is worth it as well! Enjoyed another video once again.

Small world … I was in Wiarton today ! They finally finished paving and opening the highway through downtown… finally !
Tobermory is now the 4th most visited place in Canada and the traffic proves it ! ‼️

You are lucky that you have had some nice late summer/early fall weather where you are. Here in Seattle our autumn started pretty much on Labor Day, with temperatures struggling to get above 15C. But after the summer we had, when it got up to 46C at one point, I will take an early autumn. 😁

when I was a kid I remember the old ferry it was really old then and very narrow so much time has gone by since the 60's sometimes I miss that area but bc is nice too....

Thanks for posting! I did many scuba dives at Tobermory with one of my all-time favourites being a night dive at Big Tub Harbour lighthouse. We surfaced to see all the stars and floated on our backs just soaking it all in. Cheers, Steve

Hey I have an idea for a segment for the "This is Our Retirement" series. I even have a title. "Norm and Tina Visit the Cannabis Shop." Essentially Norm and Tina would go visit one of the daily growing number of Ontario cannabis retailers, interview the clerk to find out how many seniors visit regularly (you will be "SHOCKED"). Make a purchase and experience the wares in the comfort of your rental condominium. A follow-up could be "Norm and Tina visit the LCBO" or "Norm and Tina make a stop at the Beer Store" (most of that video would involve standing in line for hours to return your empties). Again excessive consumption of purchased product would make things much more entertaining.
