  • It may be the most misunderstood statement that Jesus ever made: “Judge not, and you will not be judged” (Luke 6:37). In this sermon, R.C. Sproul continues his exposition of Luke’s gospel with an explanation of what this command means, what it doesn’t mean, and how we can put it into practice.
This sermon was preached by R.C. Sproul at Saint Andrew's Chapel in Sanford, Fla. Hear more from his series in the gospel of Luke: • The Gospel of Luke: Se...

I cannot listen to this man without having God's word warm my heart. Even when I am being rebuked, it is done so graciously. I love and miss this man though I never had the privilege of meeting him.

When I left jail as a Christian the first study books, I bought were on special offer in a Christian book shop, by rc sproul. I didn't even know there were different versions if the bible., 30 years on I still come back to sproul, I wish I had met the man, though his teachings from the bible continue to make me grow into a more mature Christian . W ith much thanks, May God continue to bless his flock through your lifelong care of his word. In brotherly love..

Excellent sermon and lesson. It is sad that this is so misinterpreted by the public and believers alike.

There is so much judgment in the world that is evil, debilitating and destructive. We look only to the Saviour of the world who is the only judge and the only one worthy to do so.

We do of course sin against our fellow believers, wives, husbands ect... we must judge ourselves in truth and fulfill our mission to live out the truth in practice. I keep at it daily, and I don't always get it right. So I do it over until i do...whew! Should be easy by now, what's the deal? Love Bill thanks folks

    In my humble reply.
There is one character trait that really puts to thought how they can hurt another, even destroy a person's character, integrity, and reputation.
    That's the covert narcissist.
Unfortunately, there are many within the Church's, both leadership and congregates in this generation. They don't give forgives when asked to be forgiven, they will use your genuine ask of forgiveness against you.😢💔

Some of God's promises, in the judgement sphere, are rather scary. If we forgive s heinous crime, we concomitantly recognise God's promises, one of which is 'Vengeance is mine, I will repay'.

What parts of Jesus' life are you seeking to imitate these days? When is it most difficult for you to imitate Christ, the Master Teacher?

When Jesus was on earth - he urged people to forgive and to abstain from judgment - criticism and condemnation.
    Why?
Because when you judge - criticize and condemn others in any way - you will create a barrier between yourself and the other person which will be difficult to removed - no matter how much you may wish to overlook everything negative in them and become friends in the future. Unknowingly - what you reject in others will remain in your mind as a foundation for future discords which will build up and eventually outweigh the affection.
Unwittingly - you will say things in the future reflecting your underlying secret mistrust or displeasure. Instead of accepting the weaknesses of others with Love and helping them deal with and overcome their weaknesses - you will put them on their guard against you and they will never fully trust you. Your mind and their mind will have a secret battle which neither of you will be aware of consciously.

Jesus said do not condemn, that's different than judging whether an act is sinful. We are supposed to do that. Should be allow unrepentant member to overrun the body? No, pluck it out, "lest the whole body be cast into hell."
Jesus said not to be a hypocrite, he said before you correct someone else, correct yourself first. He did not say not to correct one another at all.
If a person is being corrected for sin and doesn't trust you afterwards, they are simply bothered by the fact that they cannot hide their sin. A true member of the body of Christ should be grateful to you for trying to help them. I would be.
Liars hate those they cannot lie to.
Users hate those they cannot misuse.
Sinners hate those who reveal their sin.

God said: "But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die."
Therefore I say unto you: because, daily, we live in fear of "good and evil" and believe and expect these more than we believe that God is abundant LIFE and UNCONDITIONAL LOVE within us, supplying us with all things necessary for health and well-being, it is our most feared "good and evil" experiences we attract into our lives and bodies. Our beliefs in "good and evil" obscure - CLOUD OVER - all that God has in store for us if only we will believe in UNCONDITIONAL LOVE!
We judge our todays and expect of our tomorrows what we have experienced in the past. Therefore, are the ills of our yesterdays continually repeated in the future.
We are enslaved by our memories and our undeviating beliefs that what was past must return again and again to burden and wound us.
We do not need to heal our bodies or try to make our lives better, we need to heal our beliefs!
Jesus have told us there is nothing solid under the sun.
If we could heal our beliefs, bring our beliefs into line with the true Intention of God for us, the wrong beliefs governing our bodies and lives, would dissolve like mist in the sun.
Our every circumstance would immediately come back to the Divine Intention behind all creation.
We would find that for every difficulty, for every lack of every kind, there is always a means to end the difficulty, there is always a filling of our basket to meet our needs.
What do you think happened when the sick came to Jesus and he layed his hands upon them?
Was Jesus thinking about the illness? Was Jesus wondering if the person will be healed? Was Jesus afraid God may be sleeping or is so far away he cannot be heard?
No! If these were the disbelieving thoughts of Jesus, there would be no healing.
When a person approached Jesus for healing, he immediately rejoice because he knew that the Power which is God within him, is ready and waiting to heal the moment he asked. Jesus gave thanks because he knew that the Will of God is health, not sickness. Therefore, Jesus prayed that the Will of God be done in the sick person. As Jesus removed the beliefs in sickness from the body of the sick person and KNEW that the Will of God of health is flowing into his system, so does the appearance - the appearance - of sickness change into the reality of God Health and the body is made whole once more.
Sickness is nothing more than a lowering of vitality - a reduction of LIFE - within the affected part. Restore God Life to the true Intention and Plan of our system and the entire system functions as it should.
We have been told that God sends sicknesses, plagues, famines, destruction to nations when they do not keep his laws and that we ourselves are punished by the wrath of God for sins we have committed. What is punishment but evil-doing under the guise of goodness? Therefore I say unto you: evil does not come from God. How can God be of two parts - good and evil?
It is only in our minds that we conceive good and evil, only in our hearts do we think and feel it. These thoughts and feelings have nothing to do with God who is within us, bringing us every good thing if we will but believe this is so.
It is our beliefs in good and evil, and the good and evil in our hearts, which brings us sicknesses.
In reality, we live within the Kingdom of Heaven, and the Kingdom of Heaven is within us, and we are governed by God, but because we believe in the punishments from God, or that a blood sacrifice saved us, or that we are heir to sicknesses, poverties and miseries, we create with our minds, the very things we do not want.
Be not downcast - rejoice and be glad and know that those who experience lack, far from being "punished" and "abandoned" by God, even though they have "sinned," are truly blessed.

    "Judge Not… (Luke 6:37-42)"
Kind Sir, you said, (It may be the most misunderstood statement that Jesus ever made: “Judge not, and you will not be judged").
To which I shall add...there are few words; that could be more poignant; than what you espoused. Thank you brother in Jesus...
...For all my life (an others too), have heard this; "Ya'll CAINT judge me!". And in MOST cases that's a lie; because it's true many times. For Jesus did NOT mean: saying proven "facts" are judging. Rather man-judging is more like this, "Her shoes didn't match her dress!". Or, "He's a nerd". Or, "You are an idiot". Etc, etc and ETC. And Ad-infinitum! For these are purely subjective!
But this IS allowed; by Jesus (and it is not judging): "IF you commit the "Unforgivable Sin"; you WILL go to Hell!"; Or "If you engage in "H.......Y", or you are an "Abominable Sinner and you need to be put to death!"; or "If you do not believe IN Jesus; you will perish in hell". Etc, etc and ETC. Because ALL of these are in the bible's Heavenly laws. inspired by Jesus; who IS God and our Creator. Praise His Holy Name.
So when is it Judging; and when is it NOT Judging; in every day colloquial language? Very simple:
    1. IF it is an opinion and/or subjective, it is man "judging" always. But...
    2. IF it is already adjudicated (proven) in a "Constitutional Court"; in front of a Jury of our peers; OR...if it is judged by Jesus; on "Judgment Day"; when Jesus is the perfect Honorable Judge; and his 24 elders have given the verdict; it is NEVER man-judging, when we simply state a "Fact Absolute"! So beware Brethren. And I rest me case...
...In any case, Please Pray OFTEN and Praise Jesus OFTEN; for He is the ONLY true "God Almighty"; there will ever have been. And may Jesus bless you and yours always. AMEN!
