Thanks for this video. I do have the same setting, however I also do have a wire going to Rc. Yet, my Nest keeps losing charge. Would this work with my setup as well, i.e. plugging the power adapter in C and Rc (together with the red wire that's already there)?

I am installing Nest 3rd Gen Learning Thermostats in a system where the existing thermostats do not have a "C" wire. To address this, I purchased a Nest Power Connector for each zone. The system is controlled by an Argo ARM 4P controller, which has only a single "Common" terminal located at the top right of the unit. My question is: Can I connect the "C" wire from each of the Nest Power Connectors to the single "Common" terminal on the controller?

Why or when did you rule out a power supply from the heater?

he didnt have a common, he had one in the bundle he couldve used, but there was no common hooked up. thats why it wasnt charging.

Any piece of wire will work. It’s also possible to use a twist tie, when it it has metal inside.

Hi. Am I able to buy the batter pack? If so, where can I buy one? I have the same as in the video. It doesn’t take regular batteries. I haven’t taken the second plate off where battery pack is. Thank you. Had no idea I could temporarily charge it. I’m doing it now, but have to get a real battery pack. Thanks again.

Fantastic yeah God forbid we use double a batteries like the past. It's not like it's 20° outside at 5 in the morning and I got to work tomorrow. Thank you Google, thank you nest. You know I was just thinking, it's about time someone reinvented the wheel but made it much worse

You had another wire in the thermostat bundle you could've used lol

@@dancable1378 that blue wire in the bundle could have been used as a common wire for the thermostat so the furnace would send/charge proper voltage to the thermostat

@@f.m.8742 Nest's are monumental pieces of junk. I had my entire HVAC system replaced a couple months ago, and part of their install was "upgrading" my thermostat to a Nest and setting it up for me. I have it set to 72, it seems every single day my house gets up to 76-78 and I go over and have to make sure it's set correctly. My AC will turn on and off and on and off all the time, and now the Nest is "charging" and my AC isn't running. It keeps trying to turn on as it's 80+ with 95% humidity in here, but it will turn on for 10 seconds and die again. I'm calling these guys back tomorrow and telling them to reinstall my basic old unit, NEVER had an issue with it maintaining temperature, it also didn't turn off my whole system to charge. Ridiculous POS product

Unfortunately, this is not the solution for the eventual death of all Nest thermostats. I already had a C-wire setup for mine, and the battery will still eventually wear out. Then, because this product is monumentally incompetent and irresponsible, you get to THROW IT AWAY. The aftermarket batteries get terrible reviews, and you don't want a fire risk in your wall. Do yourself a favor and get a $30 proper programmable thermostat and go on with your life.

I'm done with nest as well. I need a recommendation for a new thermostat. Had Nest for 4 years and my thermostat finally went out, won't keep a charge at all and it's completely dead.
