Best video of this yet. People IMAGINE running water over it ‘cleans’ it. How can they know if they don’t look inside 🤦♀️. It’s full of grease, dead skin and shredded hair all mulched up. Cold water ain’t moving that.
Glad you've gotten such lengthy use out of a single blade. I'm assuming you're cleaning it quite regularly? We've found that with ongoing maintenance, these last much longer than without it. Rafael
Nice video, straight to the point. Am I right in thinking that once you rinse the head you don't need to wait and let it dry or dry it yourself before slotting in back in place?
Hey Yomi, Thanks for your feedback. I would suggest letting the head air dry on the inside before closing it. It's likely that you'll clean it out before anything gets a chance to proliferate in there, but it can't hurt to keep the inside of the head nice and dry as long as possible. Rafael
I just got 4 head pro. I used it 2 days ago and just put it away. Today I just dipped head in water and ran it for 5 seconds per directions. When I emptied water cup my sink was full of tiny hairs.
This is why we recommend washing the Skull Shaver regularly. It only takes a few seconds after each use but it will definitely extend the life of the unit. Rafael
I've had this for 2 years and would eventually get a constant musty smell that I couldn't get rid of, even though I ran it under water every time after using. I've determined that you really need to clean the head in SOAP and hot water (I use Dawn dish detergent) and then dry with a paper towel and leave apart over night to fully dry. Since doing this that nasty smell has never returned. A lot of people complaining about this by the way.
@@gold_pressed_latinum I haven't seen any. I've been doing this for well over a year and the blades look brand new. While I do initially rinse an run it in water as per the manufacture and that gets rid of most of the hair, it does not sterilize the blades. That's why I eventually was getting this real bad musty smell. Alcohol didn't seem to work as good as I thought. I was gonna try hydrogen peroxide until I read that it can corrode metals. So I gave Dawn dishwashing soap/water mix a try and that did the trick. After soaking it for 10 or more minutes, I rinse well with water, dry with a paper towel the best I can, and leave the top blade section apart from its connecting base overnight to fully air dry. There is no need to fully take all the blades apart for any of this. That musty smell has never returned. Whatever you choose to do, you need something to sterilize the blades besides water.
@@frankg3145 that's perfect then, I actually just went to the shop and bought antibacterial dish soap so that should do the trick for me with some warm water. I had terrible folliculitis that isn't 100% gone so not doing a thorough cleaning is out of the question. I don't know why Skullshaver don't give an official guide of how to disinfect, or provide some product to do so. There's no way on earth you can just wash things like this with water only. If anything water is what's causing the smell to begin with. I've got a 3 year old beard shaver that has never ever seen water and has no smell whatsoever.
@@gold_pressed_latinum That should do the trick for you. I agree with you 100% and I've been say that for some time now. You have oils from your scalp, dead skin cells, etc. and not taking the blade section off to fully air dry will contribute to the build up of bacteria, hence the musty smell you will eventually get. I don't think the company is even considering that and are just focused on the removal of hair. They need to look further into this. I might write them an email.
thank you for the video and all people giving helpful comments. However. After using my skull shaver for 4 years now and only clean it by holding it under water (or put it in a glass of water for some minutes), this thing really seems messed up meanwhile. I cleaned every single part of the 5 head, but there is still so much hair everywhere in between which I can not reach if I dont want to break anything. So even after cleaning everything as good as I can, it sounds weak and the blades do not move well anymore. Any tip? I am gonna buy a new 5 head on amazon now...
If you've been using the same battery for 4 years, it's quite possible that it's the battery and not the head causing you issues. Unfortunately these batteries only have so many life cycles before they have to be replaced. Rafael
I'm waiting for my pro to arrive now ( shaver that is ) but a bud of mine said if you do this it stats it voids the warranty is this the case ...?? as I want to maintain mine by doing as you showed every now and then but obviously I don't want to void the warranty...!!
What we show here is just a simple cleaning. I haven't taken a deep look at the warranty terms but I highly doubt that cleaning the Shaver head will void the warranty. It was designed so you could take it apart in this way and clean out the inside, it's not as if you're doing something not intended by the manufacturer. Rafael
After taking the blades, all five, apart, gentle cleaning with a toothbrush and the pointed end of a flossing pick helped me get lots of additional shavings out. Before I discovered this video, my blades always stopped working after a few months. $25 each on Amazon. Without cleaning the blades the motor is unable to rotate and that will do much more harm than the cleaning.
Sounds like you may not have engaged the heads properly after reassembling or one of the plastic components may have broken while you were taking it apart. Rafael
Hey there, You could try soaking the blade in rubbing alcohol, although at some point it's probably best to just replace it as it's not easy to remove absolutely all of the accumulated debris which is going to be the source of any smells. Rafael
Hey Anthony, Have you tried opening the head as we demonstrated in this video? It should be pretty to pop off, it's largely designed to be opened and cleaned. Rafael

Yep, they're designed to be cleaned and doing so will definitely extend the life of the shaver heads.

You did a great job! Thank you!!
Thanks for watching!
My head was stuck and now it is not. Thanks a million!
Glad this helped!

Been using it every day for 4 months now and the 4 head blade forte is still very good. I will probably get a new blade by the 6 month mark

Are there any long term effects of using soap?

The middle blade on the 5 head does come off, it TWISTS off counter clockwise.
That makes a lot of sense - thanks for the tip!

We can take blades off as instructed but what about the inside blades, rinsing under water does not flush them out good
Are you referring to 5-headed or 4-headed blade?
Are they Alfa Romeo cufflinks?
I do not believe so, though I don't know which specific links Paul was wearing in this review.

I can't get the heads to spin after i put it back together

How do you oil it ? My razor scratches and cuts the skin after cleaning and oil
Never really had to oil it. If it's causing so much damage, it might be time to order a new blade.

We've never had the need to oil the heads, but they are replaced quite regularly.

Y’all on extended holiday?
We'll be back with a new video this week!
Thank you. It would have be even better to show how to really clean it, not just describe it.
Appreciate your feedback! Will consider creating a more specific video on the process.

i've just "downgraded" to the 5 head model....so i cant actually get the blades out to clean them!?!?!?! noooooooooooooooo
Unfortunately, the 5-headed model doesn't break down as much as the newer 4-headed blades.

5 headed version the head turns out. But there hard to clean. 🧼 pain in bum.
