    Followed this recipe to the letter.
    It produced the best dhansak I've ever tasted, bar none.
    Better than any restaurant or takeaway I've been to.
    Many thanks, Chef Din!

    Another delicious recipe tasted better than my usual takeaway. Bit heavy on the chilli as mine is extra hot chilli powder so halved it. Every recipe I've tried has been excellent 👍👍one pot Ceylon would be good to try hint hint 👍👍

      It’s too hot for us to eat’!
      But follow these instructions and you’re have a delicious tasting hot Ceylon!!
      Make my one chicken madras, to this when you’re adding the spices add 3x chilly powder amount , 1/2 tin of coconut milk and 1/2 cup coconut nut powder! Let me know if you enjoy!!

    Another great vid. Is this close to how you prepared it in the restaurant? Maybe you would have pre-cooked the chicken in the restaurant, then added it at a later stage. Fantastic - many thanks.

      This is my one pot version of a restaurant style curry which I have created to bypass making the base gravy, precooked chicken to make it easier for you to make at home!!

    Lamb damask is my favourite. Back in the 80’s when it all ticked off…i remember my local restaurant making the best…but it must include pineapple….

    Hi Chef Din, can you use Tamarind instead of the sugar? 😊 thanks for the recipe.

    • @ChefDin
      @ChefDin  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Tamarind with make it more sour! The dish the Dansak was take from was Dal gosht this dish was just meat cooked with lentils! So if you can’t eat sugar the leave it out and reduce the lemon juice! All my recipe you can adapt for your taste!! Enjoy

      Thank you very much for your reply, I have been trying to master the Dansak for years. I will give your version a shot and see how it goes. I love the taste, and the sweet and sour. I just can’t get it right at home.

      @@zamskin29 if you follow this recipe you will get a BIR Dansak as it should be , over the years chefs have ruined this simple recipe by adding all sorts of of things eg pineapple!! Let me know how you get one and if you enjoy it!

    can i use tamarind instead of sugar?

    • @ChefDin
      @ChefDin  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Tamarind is sour, so you can use instead of lemon juice to give your sourness! Sugar is needed to give your sweetness to the dish! But if you can’t eat sugar then leave it out!

    For my personal taste, I do not like braising chicken breasts in liquid for 15-20+ minutes. Chicken breasts are low fat and can easily overcook and dry out. Whenever I make curries out of chicken breasts, I cook the chicken first and remove them from the pan when they are almost cooked through but not quite finished cooking. After that, I would work on the sauce and after the sauce is done and almost ready to serve, I would add the chicken back into the sauce to heat through and finish the cooking process. This helps prevent the chicken breasts from overcooking and drying out.

      That’s right , remember BIR curries are created to make all different curries quickly specially if you are a busy restaurant and takeaway !
