Depends on how much control she insists on. WB constantly pushed for Americans/isms to be in HP films which she fought. US studios have done that with non US IPs since dot with the same excuse - Americans must, wait for it, 'SEE THEMSELVES'. That non US IPs achieve success regardless disproves the argument. Those books are the epitome of UK/European culture and trying to mix US/UK culture never works as ROP, Witcher et al prove. I hope this time she's insistent re: control. FB franchise didn't do as well due to 'Americanising' the first film especially political posturing. The subsequent 2 financially suffered over that & WB hypocrisy re: Miller/Depp, also politically motivated.
Yes, the Twitter freak stans and gay activists who love spreading misinformation about people that they disagree with and silencing and bullying into submission! It's insane! They're still trying to cancel her, but it's not going to work and she's still going to be involved with the show, and there's nothing they can do about it! She's far too powerful to "take down", and Hogarts Legacy was one of the best selling titles of 2023, and the "boycott" only helped it grow bigger and get more people to buy it, so sorry! She's not cancelled and she never will be at all! Simple as that! That game sold gangbusters, so whether you like it or not, J.K. Rowling's here to stay!
That's the thing with so-called 'cancel culture': They have exactly as much power as you're willing to give them...and Rowling isn't willing to give them any!
I hope this upcoming show has the spirit of the books. I fear for the kids that will play the trio. Hopefully they keep them away from social media. Period.
Rowling has full creative control of the show (pretty much like the movies) so I am hopeful that it will be a good one. Apparently they want to do one season per book and one episode per chapter, and since it's a streaming show, they're not bound by the 40-45 minute limit per episode. My hope is that it will be even more faithful to the books than the films were since less would have to be cut.
What’s funny about the game, is that they had a man, pretending to be a woman in it. It was so out of place. Like they inserted a cowboy into the game.
It makes me breathe easier knowing she's involved. And let's hope that the new kids are a lot more grateful for this opportunity than some of the original cast.
Hmmm...hear of any Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson projects recently? Tom Felton and Matthew Lewis and the girl who played Luna have been respectful. Ingratitude is an unforgivable offense to most people. I'll be watching this.
Daniel Radcliffe just won the Tony Award for Merrily We Roll Along. He’s actually done quite a bit of stage work over the years. As for Emma Watson, I *think* (though I cannot be sure) that she retired from acting a few years ago.
@@TardisGirl9 "Daniel Radcliffe just won the Tony Award for Merrily We Roll Along. He’s actually done quite a bit of stage work over the years." He's done steady & continual film work as well. Quick google shows that her last gig was a short, which she also directed, in 2022. Wikipedia states, with quotes, that she is taking a hiatus as of 2023, but intends to eventually return to acting. Unlike Radcliffe however, her filmography is pretty atrocious
@@TardisGirl9 stage work is not the same as being successful. If they blackwash Hermione, the series is DOA. Mark my words. And they know it. Which is why I highly doubt they'll do it. As for the sets, I think the sets will remain the same. After all, they have entire theme parks built around those designs. What I think will happen is we might see what we saw in Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts retains the same overall aspect, but gets put on steroids. The casual viewer recognises the Castle immediately but we, the fans, will notice how much bigger and more complex the buildings became. Casting will be VERY hard. Specially the adult cast. They have nearly impossible shoes to fill. I, for one, don't see anyone topping Maggie Smith as McGonagall. I have a feeling they'll cast Helen Mirren in the role, though. She'll do fine. But she's not Maggie.
Technically Albus Dumbledore had auburn hair in the books, but his mother Kendra could have been Native American. There are plenty of characters that could be race-switched like Crabbe or Goyle that would make people laugh rather than grimace. Hermione was said in the third book that she had white skin. Hermione could still be a lot of things as long as they fit her key characteristics and personality.
@@purplespeckledappleeater8738 Except Dumbledore is NOT American in any way, so no, his mother couldn't be "Native American" (not to mention Native Americans aren't particularly known for being ginger). There aren't ANY characters that can be race-swapped. Britain isn't America. Europe isn't America. Our countries have very little diversity. In 2021, 83% of Britain was white. In 1981 (Harry is born in 1980), non-white people accounted for less than 5% of the total British population. And when you move up to Scotland, where Hogwarts is, in 1981 white people accounted for over 99% of the population. So the fact Harry Potter has so much diversity like the Patil twins, Angelina Johnson, Dean Thomas, Cho Chang, Blaise Zabini, Lee Jordan and Kingsley Shacklebolt, means that the books have an actual overrepresentation of ethnic minorities in Britain. In other words, they just need to cast those characters correctly and you'll already have a very diverse series with representation that is as realistic as the existence of magic. So there's ZERO need for dumb American identity politics to come along and insert the USA's own internal racial wars into someone else's stories and culture ;)
It’s maddening, but the hive mind won’t stop because it’s deemed her an enemy. But it is entertaining as hell to watch these cancel pigs throw tantrum after tantrum.
It's easy controversy for them. The woke community is rather lazy, they pick one thing and go on about it over and over and over again, but very selectively otherwise they have to work to much for their cause. Hence they only complained about the video game and not about all other HP products like Lego, the spin off movies and Universal having a whole HP section in their park.
As much as they want to say otherwise, there is no such thing as forgiveness in their ideology. Once cancelled, always cancelled. Any apologies will be seen as proof of guilt and the harassment continues because they now see it as justified. They will never forget any grudges because their lives are full of hatred.
Much of the old cast who didn't throw her under the bus played Slytherins. Kids who grow up playing the "bad guys" probably contemplate morality more than their "good guy" actors.
She gave those ppl the opportunity of their lives that they are still reaping the benefits of and they have no problem throwing her under the bus... their character is showing and it is ugly

I'm worried for all the new actors, especially the kids. Even without JK Rowling's "controversies" it's always rough for a new actor to take over for a beloved character in a new reboot. I.e. all the grief various Batman, Joker, Superman, Spider-Man, etc actors got and will still get. Factor in how freaking intense the Harry Potter fandom can be yeah this is going to be a wild ride.
If their parents teach them to stay off social media or grow a thick enough skin to accept that's life, they should be okay. We'll have to wait and see.
If HBO does a 'true to the books' adaptation I am all in! I read the HP books as a adult and there was so much in the books that the youngsters I knew who were reading them didn't get and it would be fantastic to bring a good Harry Potter show to the small screen.
The reason I am so mad about this series is because it's a reboot, WE DONT NEED A REBOOT.we need more content outside of Hogwarts. There's an amazing world to see and we've seen so little
LMAO! Those nobody actors, journalists and other media are irrelevant to the Harry Potter mega success Juggernaut. J.K. Rowling is a winner who is an incredible decent person who chooses to live in reality and use her brain. I feel sorry for the few people that have embraced hate and prejudice and tried to paint J.K. Rowling in a negative light.
I agree with Rowlings views but I still won’t watch the show if she decides to race swap characters. If you’re going to stay true to the books, keep the characters exactly as they were described in the books, it’s not that hard.
JK rejected the original movies where they wanted some US actors. JK said "no", I want an all British cast. I hope she sticks with her original convictions

I don't know how much interest I have in this. My childhood was defined by Star Wars and Harry Potter as it was written, I loved the books, enjoyed the original movies. But now, I am outside of the age bracket, as it were. So not sure if this is going to hold my interest, especially having to wait at least 7 years to see this new version completed.
JK aint innocent either. Her stupid retcons and raceswapping characters was not needed. I do not care for the reboot because of this stupid "modern audiences" bullsh*t.
Keep in mind, tho', that Rowling is also the person laughing about sticking it to the normies for making Dumbledore secretly gay, and the people screaming for her head now were her best buds through all of that. She had no problem being with those loonies when they were targeting someone else. She's right on the trans issue, but that doesn't make her your friend. She stabbed you in the back once before, and odds are, she'd do it again if the circumstances were in her favor.
I'm watching it because she's technically trolling them into insanity. I have seen some friends of mine cried hard against it and they're all diagnosed with hilarious mental illness, I am not joking.
She could become a billionaire twice over by writing a new book series based in Ilvermorny (the American Hogwarts). Think about it! She could go bigger, better, and add even more merch opportunities by doing a whole new story, in a whole new school, that a whole new generation will wish they could go to. The Harry Potter universe is so cram-packed with potential, she's barely scratched the surface - it could be a wider franchise set in several different schools over several different time periods. The only thing I'd say is that she needs to stick to books - no more screen plays or stage shows.
The sooner the turncoats are replaced, the better. JK Rowling made them famous. Now she'll make someone else famous and the other creatures will be forgotten.
If JK is involved I'm more interested. I'm not even a Harry Potter fan. I'm way more willing to support something if the original creator has a say. Look what happened to Star Wars after George left.

It was funny how JK Rowling was their poster child and now is a byword for them. "In spite of everything you've done for them eventually, they will hate you" - Green Goblin
I'm excited to see Luna's new actress. She's my favorite HP character and I loved Evannah's performance, so I'm hoping the new one is as charismatic, but I'm sure I'll enjoy the series regardless.
I'm not into raceswapping og genderswap, etc. But Hermione, as far as I remember, was portrayed as someone with frizzy hair, buck teeth, and as a rules based, authority following person. No mention of race with regards to to her or her family in the books. Might be something about her eye colour as well, can't remember.
I think she should go for Anime, rather than a live TV show. Child actors are not going to be good, and you can’t stop them from growing up, and you can’t predict what they will look like as young adults.

If she is not involved with the show (even if just honorary) the show will fail. If the product is not HP worthy, the show will fail because she's a Exec. Producer and the title is "Honorary". They have no choice but to do their best. I'm sure there's people at HBO who would like to "DIsney" HP. I think that's what Lucas was hoping for when he sold it. While not having any input, the mere fact that he was alive should have kept them on the straight and narrow. Harry Potter has quite a few plotholes and the writing is mid at best. I wouldn't call her a great author. She just managed to tap into a niche and make something fun and kid friendly. The more mature, darker stuff in the later books is nowhere near as good as the early stuff when the lore and the world was more mysterious. Don't get me wrong I grew up with HP and loved it as a kid and teenager. Go back and read them again now though and you'll see what I'm talking about.
Part of her success also lies in how she kept most of the copyright to Harry Potter. Unfortunately, companies learned from her and nowadays will absolutely refuse to let the creators keep any copyrights out of fear of another Harry Potter situation where they don't get 99% of all the money.
She's not even anti-trans. She's just pro-women. She's saying trans women are trans women, not literally women, and that's important because of how critical sex based protections are. It's a position 99% of people agree with intuitively.
The fact that the media no longer directly attack her and instead call it 'the controversy',' shows that they have no proof what so ever about any of the accusations against her. If you had proof that someone was indeed guilty of what you were accusing them of then you would not have to worry about a lawsuit and would not back down at all. The fact the media changed their way of attacking her shows they have nothing and it is baseless. Also as for weird members of the public attacking actors for just doing a role. There should be laws in place to put these freaks in mental asylum for treatment if they can't tell it's just a role they are playing.

They're still trying to cancel her and keep failing
You can't cancel someone who doesn't give a damn about your moronic agenda.

@graymartineau8632 Agreed. Hopefully they track them and hold them accountable if they do.

He's done steady & continual film work as well. Dislike his purported politics as much as you want, he obviously has a very stable career.
"As for Emma Watson, I think (though I cannot be sure) that she retired from acting a few years ago."
I have a theatre nerd who keeps up with Broadway and he has never mentioned Radcliffe and Broadway has destroyed its reputation since 2016 the Tony Awards are practically niche now. So from being a Marquee name to being a stage actor in a niche industry is NOT a fall off? Going to have to disagree with you there.
Cast Daniel Day-Lewis.
One f%cking character makes an entire show DOA? Calm down snowflake.
I just hope they don't do Ron dirty again like they did in the films
I hope Luna's actress gets a cameo in this. She was one of the very few who didn't try to attack Rowling over this.
She did at first, until she really looked into what Rowling said. Then she apologized and stands by her.
Can they just leave that woman alone already and move on I mean goddamn it’s like this every year they got some new beef with her
It’s maddening, but the hive mind won’t stop because it’s deemed her an enemy.

Think about how sad that is. That we have to worry about CHILDREN being HARRASSED BY GROWN ASS ADULTS because they wanted to be apart of Harry Potter

The Harry Potter universe is so cram-packed with potential, she's barely scratched the surface - it could be a wider franchise set in several different schools over several different time periods.

I think she should go for Anime, rather than a live TV show. Child actors are not going to be good, and you can’t stop them from growing up, and you can’t predict what they will look like as young adults.
And a TV show might progress slower than movies. Can they really release one season a year for each book? If not, the actors will age too quickly.

At least when WB 'merged' with Discovery it booted the top wokes who stuck their noses out too far i.e. disappearing her name from the first FB trailer to a tiny corner. As the merger just went through, it was quickly updated and her name returned big and bold. That alone could've cut WB out of future projects if she'd had a mind to be pissed off. CEO Zaslav also flew over to meet her to discuss the new HP content. Not the other way around. I heard (maybe here) Disney didn't get HP at their parks because they were trying to call the shots whilst Universal agreed to her demands. These corporates need to understand they don't own this franchise. She does and she doesn't need money.
@@vampuricknight1 I agree with you there. I'm just sick of Hollywood hating creators while gladly taking their work, like how Amazon treats Tolkien, or how Bob Iger treats Walt Disney.
A wee bit, perhaps
It is indeed hypocrisy. Where would woke Hollywood be without their unwoke and "reactionary" franchises?
Hope we get Peeves!!!
Do you think they'll CGI him or do what they did with the ghosts from the movies? The books made him seem more solid(?) than a ghost
@@chasepeeler9188If he'll be CGI, they'll probably just port over Hogwarts Legacy's version as well as the same voice actor.
Sad that they cut out Rik Mayall from the first film.
If they race swap any of the main cast then I will not watch it.
Honestly, good for her. I'm looking forward to a new cast as well. I had problems with the original movies, but after all of this I can't enjoy them anymore due to the cast.
J K Rowling (to urinalists):
"Your [[ lawsuit winnings ]] shall make a fine addition to my collection..."
That's the thing that really gets me. She's won lawsuits over the falsehood of the claims in a country that panders to the left and doesn't have fully free speech and forced the BBC to apologize twice but still the lies continue.
If they are going to stay true to the source in the series the can't race swap characters. From what I been told the characters were well described. Plus, if they adapt Ron accurately I highly doubt they will race swap Hermione. In the movies they took some of Ron's shinning moment and gave them to Hermione. If they race swapped her now and kept his character true, it would look like they were taking something away from a POC to give it to a pale, straight guy.
Not to mention people will try and make out that every 'mean' thing he says to her is him being low key racist
You can't cancel someone who has F'you money! rofl
Something they should have learned with Trump and Elon
JK Rowling will be laughing going to the bank, while the film cast will be flipping burgers at McDonalds.
I work at McDonalds and we don't flip the burgers. The top and bottom is cooked simultaneously on a "clam-shell" style grill.

She did nothing wrong and everything she said was right. It’s insane the things people make up that she said when Rowling never said anything as vile as what’s being made up
'Headline readers' never research as it's not about what's said, it's what they want to have been said so they can rage over it to gain power. Fortunately we gave them all the rope they asked for and they did with it what we always knew they would. Now the victimhood trend is ending. I.E. a multi millionaire with a white father and a privileged upbringing who went to his home country for a few months in 2020 to retain her citizenship, the new Acolyte actor, bleats about cultural appropriation, releases diss tracks about black oppression yet thinks we won't notice? They may as well talk to the wall at this point. We're not falling for it anymore. (Most never did)
People want her whole body if work destroyed because her views. You don’t have to like her view but her body of work speaks for itself, she is one of the greatest modern authors if not the most successful modern author of all time.
Yeah. How many franchises have been ruined in the last decade. Eventually they came for Potter.
@@Nick-zp8wk that is a good point, I enjoy her writing so maybe I’m bias
Part of her success also lies in how she kept most of the copyright to Harry Potter. Unfortunately, companies learned from her and nowadays will absolutely refuse to let the creators keep any copyrights out of fear of another Harry Potter situation where they don't get 99% of all the money.
The music industry is the same way. Total control over creativity.
If any of them say anything, remind them they should give away the millions they earned because of her.
Her own government couldn't cancel her.
She's not even anti-trans. She's just pro-women. She's saying trans women are trans women, not literally women, and that's important because of how critical sex based protections are.
It's a position 99% of people agree with intuitively.
The fact that these people finding protecting real women speaks more about who they truly are.
Here in Australia they're legislating that if you attack children online if the service allowing it doesn't sort it immediately i.e. X they'll go after them instead.
These kids/actors will get more support than they will hate.
I hope the new series is set in the 1990s, not modern day
